@@HomegrownFloridaZ9a I can tell right now only cabbage/lettuce/ rosemary/ basil are good for this...Never succeded to get fruits from cherry tomatoes. Mush beans also got sick of some fungi after 8 weeks and didn't get their maturity. Strawberry also got rotted ,spinach never ever germinated in this system.. So I am very sceptical about radishes who needs a short period of daylight... I try to shorten till 12 hours per day instead of 16 hours timer ( every day I should manually to switch on and off the power button..so exhausting and never know when to change water completely-.every 2 months I do it)

I live in Sarasota and I have a weird property because my sweet potatoes make very few tubers. Green beans always succumb to some sort of fungal wilt, my pineapples are 4 years old, no pups, no pineapples, okra never grew. Made 2 or 3 pods at most and they were horrible and woody. Kale, bok choy, cherry tomatoes and black eyed peas are always winners here though. Learning more each year. Thank you for all the great info!

I’ve found they do best when you put a bunch of seeds in a spot in the garden and basically forget about them. They like certain conditions to sprout and I’ve never been able to do it in trays. Eventually they just pop up. Usually around April or May.

Since SoFlo is about to kick back into high-speed growing season, have you done a video on your irrigation setup for your raised beds? I'm about to get mine setup and I can't decide if I want to use drip/soakers or something like a shrubbler or wobbler emitter in my beds.
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a

I haven’t done a video on that yet but if I could do it over again, I would opt for drip over my microsprayers. I think mine increase the possibility of disease more than drip.

The past 2 years I have taken a strawberry growing class at my local extension office. With the class I get 10 bareroot strawberry plants and I know they're a kind that will grow here. They always have the class right at the time we should be planting here. It just saves me from having to remember to order them and figuring out which kinds to order. Mint is supposed to be practically a weed but I can NOT grow it! I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with it. I have trouble with thyme also. Maybe I love them too much lol. My boss has an amazing rosemary hedge in front of his house.

Thyme eludes me too, lol. For mint, I neglect it and it loves that. I basically forget about it and it has survived for 3 years now. I barely water it

How do you deal with the trees on the white fence , my neighbor does not trim his trees
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a 11 ай бұрын
We hire a tree company every 2 years and they trim all the branches that extend on our side. They have a small lift that they use and then they climb up the trees to cut them. We always let our neighbors know we are going to do it just so they are aware. Make sure to check with your county regarding the regulations since my county rules might be different from yours

So am I correct in learning that I can cut all my sweet banana and green peppers back and they’ll produce again as long as they look healthy? How tall should I leave the plants, 6” - 10”- 12”?
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a 11 ай бұрын
Yes, they should. I usually cut down to right above the lowest leaves. I’ve found if I cut below those leaves, sometimes they won’t grow back. If your area is frost free, no need to cut back.
