In lick #4, the tab says 8s9 on the B string but I think you're actually playing 7s8?

You're right ! Playing 7s8 highlights the 13th, 8s9 highlights the eleventh. This one seems more appropriate in this context. The choice is yours ;)

These licks are nice, but I don’t think learning a lick over a 1 chord vamp is a great way to learn jazz vocabulary. I highly recommend anyone learning jazz to study complete lines that acknowledge a full 2 5 1 chord progression, that way you get a sense of the most important element of jazz phrasing, how you emphasize the transition between one chord and another

The 2nd lick is built with the Bb Mixolydian mode starting on the 11th (Eb). It can also be seen as the Eb major scale (Ionian), so you're not wrong. These two modes share the same notes. Bb7 is the V7 of Eb.

Cool licks. One reason my ears hate jazz is they all sound the same. Not here but in general when I hear fast jazz it’s this tempo and this quarter note sound. No actual fast bursts or runs that sound diff but same chromatic sounding stuff “dee da dee da dee da” over and over. 5 mins and my ears are bleeding. But it’s good to have a few licks under my belt . Thanks

1:46 Lick 3 seems like a D# Lydian, but than that Ab, and it sounds so belonging to the scale. What's going on? EDIT: Oh I see they're all Bb, and it's Mixolydian, and still, in this case there's an A out of the mode that sounds so belonging.
