Just a correction. Ranger port was actually a community joke in the early days of EQ back then rangers although wearing chain had a very messed up AC scale and died quite frequently to easy mobs. It has long since been fixed but they died so often a joke started that they were just dying on purpose for a free port:-)

AC effected all classes equally through Luclin until the soft caps were put in. Rangers were just limited to squishier races than the average plate class and had less stamina. Their spells created a ton of aggro even more so than paladins and SK's. Flame lick would snap aggro on ANYTHING at pretty much any level of health remaining. They also used really fast weapons and weapons with aggro procs like the longsword that rooted things and made them turn on melees standing closest to their center which were usually rangers because wood and half elves had the smallest collision box radius along with gnomes. L50 war had 4k health. L50 Pal/SK had 3.5k L50 Ranger had 1750-2k depending on race. They would get hit once get perm aggro from low health agi debuff then die the next round.

I'm pretty sure it's called "ranger porting" (or commonly "ranger gating") because of the dead ranger meme. Back in the day they were thought to be tanks because they could taunt, but they would die more often because they couldn't wear plate gear and had lower hp/ac than other tanks. So people joked that rangers were always dead and porting back to their bind point. They were also commonly used as sacrifices to mobs that had Death Touch. Dying became known as ranger gating.

@@IonBlaze1 Yeah a Ranger gate is when a ranger dies because rangers were terrible. They were always dead. Also - Chatfontsize goes to 10. Otherwise some pretty good info in here. Well done!

Thanks for the great content. Some of the stuff you mentioned I never knew about or had forgotten. One just small addition that I use and find helpful is to use the CTRL-SHIFT-Left Click when Im out in the field and want to price check an item. It does what you described, but is very easy to check prices when you find stuff. Looking forward to your future stuff.

My first day to play Everquest and I couldn't find the LOGOUT button to end the game,so I did Ctrl + Alt + Delete twice. ok? Pls advise how to log out button-where is it?

@@devonwawrzyniakowski9287 You log an active character out of a server (returning to character select) by having them camp. Ctrl-X, the Camp(Exit) button on the Action bar, or the /camp command.

I’m not sure when it started. But at one point you can /bazar anywhere in any one and buy. Same with /barter for quick selling to people.

In speedrunning it's called dying to save time. Nobody speedruns EQ of course but there are still little time saves to take some of the tedium off.

If you ranger port via dueling, you lose exp if it's a players pet that kills you

How do you do the strafe lock? I tried Right mouse forward left click and enter but i must be missing something.

It's pressing the enter key when you do a normal strafe. If you press enter on any of the movement actions, it autolocks it.
