Hi Paul. I'm a guitarist that, for over 10 years, tried his best to ignore music theory altogether (excluding the pentatonic scale) until a legendary guitar teacher decided to show me some tasty licks I knew and explain what made them special in the context of music theory. This video brought me back to those lessons because he did that exact Eagles riff to demonstrate a certain 'Pacific island voicing' and then played it over the Hotel California backing track. I wish I'd realized earlier, but this sort of theory is something every guitarist needs to know. Thank you for making this video.

I’m pretty new to guitar (been about a year and 4 months) but I like it even more than piano which I have played 7 years. I just wanna say I love your channel and am often inspired by your amazing guitar skills and informational videos. I just generally love your videos and the subtle comedy, entertainment, and just the cool vibe you have in my opinion. It’s obvious you don’t just make guitar videos on KZbin, everything you make is such high quality content, and it’s really entertaining to watch even when I am not playing guitar. You are awesome! :) best wishes from America
