There is another type, not so common but it exists (especially for men): have a family/wife home, and one girlfriend on ship. Usually happens for deck department (officers, engine - who can have some good status and privilleges), who are spending most of their life on ships, until retirement. Also, every step of the relation burns much faster than on shore, I guess because your time is limited there. Some are saying that you have a parallel life while on board, like a fantasy world. I never shared this opinion, but probably is safer to do, if you don't want to get hurt. Take care!
