Betcha didn't know that the opening fuzz guitar riff was actually just supposed to be a guide track for what would be replaced later with a brass section. Otis Redding did just that on his cover version that also came out in 1965.

Sureley the Stones in their old age could grace us with a remix of how it originally sounded on the origional Chess demo

The acoustic version recorded at Chess must rank as the great lost demo of all time.Does anyone have any trace of it?Ive never met anyone who knows anything about.

in 'Stone Alone' Bill Wyman says that they worked on the acoustic version in Florida and then the group dispersed, with Keith Mick and Andrew taking the tapes to L.A. When Wyman heard the finished product back in London he "couldn't recognize it." (you need the first edition of the book since the others made Bill take stuff out - like Mick's visit to the House of Wigs before the Hyde Park show in '69. and this Satisfaction story. a careful listen reveals a drum track that doesn't sound at all like Charlie - no syncopation, robotic beat, and the bass line that's simply NOT something you'll ever hear in Wyman's other tracks. Of course session players will sign or assume an NDA for big acts. The innuendo at the time regarding the actual composer (Stones or Otis Redding, who covered it on an lp that summer, almost before the Stones'6 June 65 release) remains unanswered...

Great to see that the Dylan influence is acknowledged... never knew that Mick & Keith voted against releasing it!!!

Found it hard to believe = Keith wanted to replace guitar fuzz tone with a horn section - would have sounded like the Ottis Redding version I suppose

I always thought the acoustic was Brian
@ClassicRockFilms4 жыл бұрын
I'm sure Brian was there with Keith over dubbing the acoustic - but as far as I have read there is no trace of Brian except playing harmonica on the chess Studio version ( wish I could hear this version ) but cannot find it anywhere
