I know two things about Sunderland. First, sorry to say no one is ever going to describe it as beautiful. Second, my rule of thumb for what the people are like is what it’s like to be an away football supporter. In that respect people in Sunderland are the greatest on earth. Even in the dark days of the 70s Sunderland was always a pleasure to visit. Astonishingly even the police were respectful and helpful. Love from an Ipswich supporter

Thought The Avenue theatre became part of Vaux brewery, not pulled down and the earliest example of the stars and stripes is on Hylton castle, as in Washington's arms.
