No, it's true. Govinda was a good actor but his genre is dated, mainly because there are no comedy actors anymore. Plus, Govinda was good only because of his team - David Dhawan as director, Kader Khan's dialogues, Karishma has phenomenal comic timing that no other actress can match, let alone surpass. For a comedy to work, the whole team has to be really in-sync.

With due respect, I would like to add few points… It is a matter of perception whether you are successful or unsuccessful. In reality, it's not just the actors who failed but also the directing, casting, and script that failed. It is best to avoid using the term failed actors bcz luck is part of the equation 80% of the time, especially in this profession. The 90s are relived through actors like Govinda Karima Kapoor because they are not just actors, but also memories of the 1990s. In addition to Vivek Oberoi and Emraan Hashmi, it depends on the casting, direction, and script, and not only on their talent.

In my opinion new actors should get the chance. They really amazed us there's no doubt that they were our heroes but with time everything changes and so does the moviestars. But ofc the worst thing is that nowadays upcoming talented actors like them are still in their struggle phase while the starkids ( not all, I'm talking about the talentless ones) are getting all chances.. But in other hand who goes to the cinema now!? Everybody prefer ott and all.... Vivek was a good actor but many of his well publicised films flopped including Yuva, Dum, Prince, Kisna etc. He had only one solo hit Saathiya. In short, audience didn't like him enough to go to theatres to watch his films.
