Shane's the fucking man, that dude did a perfect shooting star press at age 46, by ratio he is easily one of the best performers. Maybe not the best wrestler, but one of the best performers hands down.

The fact he doesn't even need to is impressive as fuck aswell. I fully believe that if he'd decided early in life to do this full time he'd have been one of the best.

What the fuck is the difference between a good wrestler and a good performer? they are the same thing, pro wrestling is fake so there is no such thing as a bad wrestler but good performer, if you are a good performer you are a good pro wrestler.

The really cool thing about Shane is that he doesn't consider himself a wrestler. He actually won Pro Wrestling Illustrated's "Rookie of the Year" award for 1999 but politely turned it down saying "those things are for the boys, not for me". As far as he's concerned he can work a few matches but that doesn't make him equal to the guys who go out and do it night after night. It's actually quite a shame he's the boss' son because I imagine concerns about nepotism kept him from entering the ring full time, where he could have been one of the best.

Even though this ppv is one of the best in many people's eyes, it sucks that sometime after this event, so many recognizable names were gone, HHH: quad injury, Benoit: spinal/neck injury, Haku: left in July, Rikishi: eardrum injury, Guerrero: fired for drug use

Shane may throw the worst punches in history BUT he always gives a 120 percent for every match he is on. And willing to die in the process if needed. He seems like the kindest and toughest guy (with a sprinkle of madness) you will ever met.
@TigrMchine
@TigrMchine 7 жыл бұрын
It would make for an interesting timeline if one could graph Benoit's neck injuries with his descent into madness. I was under the impression that it was his Flying Head Butt off the top of a steel cage onto Angle that was the real catalyst for the surgery, but as to his cognitive injuries, the repeated trauma has to be seen as the major culprit.

Dokainin yup, Shane said it on WWE confidential
@kevinnorwood8782
@kevinnorwood8782 6 жыл бұрын
Dokainin Yep, and that's actually half the reason why Kurt had so much trouble throwing Shane through that glass. Half of the reason WAS because they had used the wrong kind of glass than what they were supposed to be using, but the other half was because Kurt had broken his tailbone, and as a result, he couldn't get any leverage in his belly-to-belly suplexes.

I don't think there's a man alive at the time that could be concussed in the first of his three matches that night, then in the third have a Street Fight with a guy who isn't mainly a wrestler and it ends up being possibly the best match of either's career. Except for Kurt Angle.

Always makes me wonder if the Invasion angle would have played differently if Benoit and Triple H never got injured.
@WCWThunderRosa
@WCWThunderRosa 7 жыл бұрын
The whole thing would've started later, and Triple H would've joined the Alliance instead of Austin. They started it after KOTR because the main event scene was desperately depleted with Rock, Triple H, & Benoit all gone. And if you look back at Austin's booking at the time, it's clear the role was intended for Triple H. Austin joined McMahon at Mania, and after Judgment Day, the split between the Two Man Power Trip was started but HHH tore his quad on the first night, so there goes that. Then before InVasion, Austin turns face only to switch back at the PPV. It makes no sense, especially since Vince was turning face against the Alliance, and he had just recently aligned with Austin.

This PPV will always have a special place in my heart, it was at the time of this PPV that I first started really watching WWF. I remember "watching" this on the PPV channel without paying for it, aka I watched static and listened to the commentary. Summer of 2001, not necessarily a period looked back upon with much reverence, but a very nostalgic time for me personally.

Benoit might have been one of the best and most crisp performers in the ring of all time, but he couldn't execute Superplexes for shit. Just look at any given Benoit match in which he hits any kind of Suplex from the Turnbuckle and you'll see him ram the back of his head and neck into the canvas with full force, immediately clutching it in pain.

On Prichard's podcast he says they got the right glass but someone (Prop guy maybe?) thought it was too frail and was worried that being so close to the stage area that the pyro/music might shatter it so he put a couple of layers of glue or something to make sure it wouldn't break before it was suppose to but that whatever he put on it caused it to become stupidly strong.
@mikeawesome9212

What I heard was that they reinforced the glass because they were afraid it would break when the Pyro went off, so which is it? DDP was better off working with The Rock. There was no way he was gonna look good working with The Undertaker, especially given how that "feud" played out.
