I asked if the World Title win was legit and he said yeah but things happen in life and you got to do the best with the cards you get. He seems really happy with life now so can't be upset with what happened to him.

Michaels *claims* in his book and DVD "Heartbreak and Triumph" that he was asked by Hogan to "be like you were in '98." Shawn says he didn't want to because he'd worked very hard to establish a better reputation in his post-2002 career, but went along with it and decided he'd go all out if they were going to ask him to go there at all. Whether that's HBK embellishing or not, we can't really know, I guess.

@WhatCulture 1 little known fact about SummerSlam 05, was it was the first time the split audience ever happened. I was there, you can see Cena and Jericho taken back by how half the audience was chanting let's go Cena and the other half was chanting let's go Jericho.

That promo work Shawn Michaels did at the Montreal Raw is the stuff of legend. As for Hogan nixing the final 2 matches he and Michaels were supposed to have and being 2-faced about the promos, of course Hogan did that. If he didn't do that, he wouldn't be Hulk Hogan, see?

I remember ordering it just because I wanted to see Matt and Edge kill each other. I was hardcore fan during the Attitude Era to a casual fan to not watching the product altogether. I would still keep up with what was going on in the wrestling world with online dirt sheets. When I heard a match was going to happen between Matt and Edge after all the backstage drama they were going through, I knew I had to watch it! I didn't even know the infamous Michaels/Hogan match was the main event for the last PPV I ever paid for until now.

I was in the front row of the upper balcony that night (roughly by hogans head at 0:06) and my friends and I made a (IMO hilariously) dry-humored 8 foot long banner that read "We do not like John Cena very much." We hung it over the rail throughout the show, not sure if it's ever visible on the tape. But shortly before cenas match security came up to the balcony, asked us what it said AND RIPPED IT UP.
