Do NOT comment on the camel toe. I think women do it on purpose to get attention. I highly doubt anyone would appreciate you bringing it to their attention. Also, yes... what's with the roots. If you can't afford to upkeep your hair colour then don't do it. You can do streaks instead or even just a different haircut will be a nice change. My absolute pet peeves is unnatural hair colour like blue or green, or red, or whatever. Especially once it's starts fading it and goes to 100 shades of blue. I have never . . . Ever seen a person with these colours where I thought yeah that looks good. I question... do people look in the mirror before they leave their house. How can they think it looks good . . . I just don't get it. I can hardly wait for this trend to be over. Sheesh

Fenty by Rihanna is killing it- long term too. Kylie Cosmetics was short lived after ppl both tried her crap and realized there was at one point, a no refund policy. There is a 10-second rule when pointing out a flaw: Only point out a flaw if it can be fixed in 10 seconds. That would include things like lipstick or food on your teeth, fuzz or hair on your clothes, etc. Things that cannot be remedied quickly are likely to embarrass the other person and put them on the defensive.

If you want to be noticed, make the effort. I went out to a lecture about a month or so ago after being "green passed" for so long. I didn't have one. I had on a simple black dress, a beige pashmina and Italian shoes that tied the two together. I had on some whimsical earrings that I got in Sicily but no other jewelery. I was just sitting there waiting for it to start and a man walked in. I literally saw his eyes widen and stare for a second or two too long. He didn't approach me, but the eyes said it all. The lecturer, who was quite a bit younger was also really smiling at me. The same Intitution is having a big do tomorrow. It will be partly outside in the evening. I'm trying to decide what to wear but it will be interesting to see what unfolds.

I realized the importance of eyebrows when my teenage son said, Mom, you don’t have eyebrows. I do but my hair is graying and the brows went first. I used to get all over hair color, but it was too harsh, so now I get balayage that incorporates my gray and I don’t have to worry too much about roots. I had my eyebrows tinted with my hair color, but it would only last about two weeks, then I had to pencil them in again. I got some Anastasia brow stencils, I chose the one I liked from the pack, and now I just hold it on and use a brush and eyebrow powder to color them in. This has garnered my best results.

I think quite young women, like under 20, look cute with the false eyelashes, it's fun on them. If you can't afford an expensive handbag just have a small plain wallet, no bits hanging off, pompoms and so on. I keep a tote in my car with my extra goodies, but a clutch type wallet that co-ordinates with shoes is always classy. Just recovered from one of my worst migraines and Frederique made me smile :)

In response to your question, I heard that you should only mention it if they can fix it in the moment (something in the teeth, some food on their face etc). If it's something like the pants, they can't run home and change so I would leave it be. I appreciate you talking about the yoga pants and big lips. As a lady in her 20s, I feel like there's a lot of pressure to "fit in" and unfortunately that style is popular right now. Thanks for your guidance on how to be classy!

I'm so late to watch this, but you are SPOT on with these points! I used to have the lash extensions (although I tried to keep them "reasonable") and it was such a relief after I got them removed, and I started working on my natural lash health. A waitress the other night had MASSIVE fake lashes/extensions and it was so distracting it was difficult to take her seriously. Was she going to fly away? Would they fall into our food? ugh. These other "trends", camel toe, yoga up-the-butt pants, talon toenails, etc, just make me cringe. Your way of presenting this was absolutely delightful and humorous.....thanks for making my day. Great video Frederique. Very reasonable and rings so true to me. In my opinion, if you have something done, like lashes, brows, lips etc.. nobody should be able to tell. I am a bit younger than you, but when I practiced yoga in the late 90s/early 2000s, Yoga Pants were generally in reference to a stretchy pant that typically had a straight leg or flared bottom, and the waist rise also varied. Usually black. The skin tight "Yoga pants" we see today are something I have always called leggings. They have been around forever, we used to see them under tunics and cardigans, that is where they look best IMO. A true (to me) Yoga pant is actually pretty versatile. I might go figure skating in my black flared bottom pants, and afterwards I can throw on sandals and a pretty top with my summer straw tote, and the look is quite flattering. They are not my first choice if I am otherwise not exercising, normally I would choose jeans or a long summer skirt, but they work just fine multipurposing if I need that. I cannot imagine myself wearing leggings like a pant, if I wear them they are dark with a top that well covers my ass, and they don't double well as something I would wear out to lunch. I also wholeheartedly agree with having a nice bag. Quality leather bags are not necessarily expensive, neither are many faux leather bags. I usually carry a tote with a black or brown leather clutch inside so I can pull that out if I don't feel like carrying the whole tote everywhere.

I disagree with the person who said that most women in the US tried to look nice. I lived in Europe for 20 years and NEVER saw the trashy clothes, huge implants, big lips, skin tight clothes etc that are everywhere in the US especially California. And on a recent trip to the UK I saw the same Kardashian look all over the place. I think it’s incredibly sad that so many women now feel they have to advertise their bodies in outrageously sexual ways.

The only time I stopped a stranger regarding her clothing was in a busy large train station. She was a 65-ish lady and had obvously been to the loo - her dress was caught up at the back, tucked into her knickers. She was horrified that she had been walking around for a while like that, and nobody had told her. I felt so bad for her! I don't think I would tell someone about a camel-toe, as I would wonder if she had checked herself in the mirror before leaving home and thought it was okay.
@jjohnson68333 жыл бұрын
I was very grateful once when a kind woman told me that my skirt was caught in my waistband! Luckily, my tights were opaque black so it could have been worse, but I did not want to keep walking around looking foolish! You wonder about the ones who kept quiet …
@angelatewson82023 жыл бұрын
Yes, I like the 'if you can fix it in 10 seconds rule' but I believe skirt stuck in tights comes into that. Happened to me a couple of times when I had young children, who also liked to stick stickers on me. I was grateful to the ladies in London who told me very nicely! I have since discreetly told a few women, and they have been grateful. I would also tell someone if they had their period and had leaked, that's so easy to happen very quickly and must have happened to quite a few of us. Just say it very nicely and with empathy. Otherwise don't comment. But i think it's pointless with some of these things. It's just people have bad taste but would be insulted if you told them. They may regret it one day. I do get fed up with having to avert my eyes though. But in the end, these are only clothes. My pet hate is dealing with drunks, there are so many of them these days who think they are funny or clever.

Agree with these points! I had never seen the long toenails before, how horrible are they! I cannot imagine that they are practical either 🤣😂 I don’t think it’s a good idea to inform people that they are showing a camel toe, unless you know them. It may be intentional and you might get an aggressive or violent reaction. For other issues, (food in teeth, makeup smudges, skirt tucked into knickers, toilet roll stuck to shoes, etc) I would definitely say something, but things that people cannot instantly rectify, or could, god forbid, be intentional, I prefer not to embarrass them.

Management should have addressed the issue. Unless we are related or very close friends, I will not say anything to a woman about her choice of clothes. Regarding the yoga pants and joggers, they are still a step in the right direction because I can not understand how people leave their house with pajamas, onesies, rollers on their hair, or with a robe.
