No, I thought Strickland had a good chance going into the fight. I probably would have put it at about 60/40 in Izzy's favor, and I was very surprised at how dominant Strickland was, but I knew he had a better chance than most people were giving him.

I was on a cruise ship in Canada during the Strickland Izzy fight. After seeing the high dollar production segment ESPN had on Izzy, it allowed me to put $500 on Sean to win. Signs people. Signs are out there.

That’s not really the correct definition of MMA math. By MMA math calculations, Dustin would lose to Islam because Islam beat Oliveira, who beat Dustin. Predicting that Dustin will lose to Islam because Islam is an insanely strong pressure grappler, the kryptonite of modern Dustin, isn’t MMA math. It’s actual analysis

Important to note that Struve’s TKO over Miocic was preceded by some truly horrendous eye pokes. Stipe probably shouldn’t have continued fighting tbh

Yea that's about the most excusable upset lose you can think of. Not just the pokes, the shear fact that he's a 9 foot sasquatch person, how do you train for that? You can't find a sparring partner with similar dimensions and skills. Not making excuses, a loss is a loss, but if they ever had a rematch, there's little doubt that Stipe would have avenged the loss.

Thank you for reminding me of that bad decision in Cannonier vs Strickland. Strickland out struck him badly volume wise, and I think the only reason it was given to Cannonier is because of Sean's bloody nose.

Damage is the first criteria. Sean had volume but not power as opposed to Jared who hits like a truck. Throwing a jab for 3 rounds is fine and all but when some mixes it up and does more damage then you lose

he did zero damage to Jared through the entire fight. You can land pit pat shots all you want but volume isn't a scoring criteria, damage is. Nick Diaz used to pitpat and then once his opponent was cooked he'd lay the power on and land big shots, Sean's boxing is like Nick without any of the finishing instinct.

I really would like to see Dustin win, but I don't see that happening unfortunately. Styles make fights, and this is a bad style matchup for Dustin. Also he has mentioned and said the word retire out loud in front of people that is never a good sign when a fighter talks about that before a fight. That's my opinion and I hope I'm wrong LOL
