Frankly, given how much into NFTs Square Enix is and the existence of their "ethics" department that only do dumb censorship based on "modern western sensibilities", I don't think I want my favorite Final Fantasy game (hell, the 2 Parasite Eve too) ruined by the "modern" Square Enix.

I am SO down for a Final Fantasy IX remake. That is still one of my favorite games. I have it on my PS3, PS4, AND PS5. I would love to see a ground up remake, but I pray they don't do it in episodic form.

@@tylerhuffman3134 I highly recommend it. It goes back to the fantasy setting, and you don't have to fool around with junction systems or materia. It's much more straightforward, and the characters are just all so loveable.

Given the recent release of Final Fantasy XVI, IX would be a prime candidate for a FFVII Remake-style remake. If Square-Enix can remodel the combat to be action-oriented while keeping the stylized art style of the original PS1 game, it would be a huge win.

Well there was REMASTER that came out maybe like.. two years back? It's available on all systems as far as I know. Unsure if an actual REMAKE will be down the pipeline but there is a recent Remaster

I wouldn’t hold for a remake, even if there IS one it would be likely it’s at least 4-5 years away. The original is still the best game in the series for me, just go into it not worrying about the older style because it’s really fantastic

I heard Kefka was actually an old partner of the character Shadow who was abandonned after an heist gone wrong and captured by the empire to be used later on in Magitek experiments.

8 is the is the one with the largest untapped potential of them all. Garden could be adapted massively to having actual lessons based on each and every aspect of the game, junctioning, tactics, Combat. Not to mention a wildlife class to learn about the vast wildlife of final fantasy, which can be a form of learning what gives you what items and magic without being in the field whilst also having a practical. Driving lessons, Summon Class to do same as wildlife but with aummons etc. They could put more depth into the ranking system, possibly showing other players stats aswell. Filling in the world more too since its one of the emptiest maps ff has ever done, Personally id like a sepersate section from the main story characters to create your own s.e.e.d member and go on missions with friends.

I love ff8 so much, the junction system is my favorite part a remake should definitely have it in it, if they take out dynamic leveling that would fix a big issue of people's issues with the game in my opinion

That's what I'm thinking too 😂 drawing magic should just increase the level of magic/unlock it! And monster carries only limited amount of said spells for junction and can be get from cards using quezalcotyl's card refined ability

For me its definitely FF2, FF8 and FFT. Love those 3 but i am curious about some spin offs i hope for their fans' sake that FF Mystic Quest (one with Benjamin/Zash) and Vagrant Story (since it gets referenced alot in FF12 or in Ivalice Alliance in general).

A perfect list; I 100% agree on, for once. LOL Although I never played Tactics, as I'm not a tactical game fan. This list hits all the correct beats. 8 was my least favorite; because I couldn't figure out it. Although; I did play FF I and II on the Gameboy, 6 was my actual jumping off point for the series. Next to 7; it's the one I love the most. And yes; Vivi needs to come back in glorious 3D. 9 was a great game, and I hold it up with some of my favorites in the series. 10, and 10-2, also needs to be remade. As I don't think you can have one; without the other.

And yes, Vagrant Story is near perfect in every way, except for the interface. At the very least, whether they do a full remake or remaster, they need to remove the tedium of swapping gear and crafting. Most people just wouldn't put up with that today.

people who use the laughing scene from FFX to make fun of it's voice acting tells me they haven't even played the game. if they did then they'd know there's some context to that scene and those laughs were a deliberate voice acting direction. you even hear their genuine laughter after those laughs also, the person who saved Square Soft from bankruptcy probably earned himself a well deserved promotion in the company that came with some pull

Let's be real, I would love for all of them to get remakes. I would love if they would have a dissida type game but the battle system was like seven remake or sixteen. Instead of the corny story line have the story be that square is putting on a cosplay convention of people's favorite characters and everyone shows up and it turns out they have to fight to win. That way it can be like a tribute to the fans and characters and not just another "we need all the strongest fighters of all time and space"

I think FF VIII needs a remake like VII. I think the junction system could work well if they tweak it a bit more and fix the level scaling problem. Also a slight rewrite/ re interpretation of the story could help some of the weaker points of the story. It had an unfortunate task to follpw up to the biggest FF in the franchise, and you can argue it was a disappointment. But i think IX needs a pure remake. The game is underrated in the grand scheme of things and for me its the the best game in the series.

A remake of Duodecim would be amazing but I would be happy if Square. Would. Effing. Put. It. In. The. PS Store already. WHY they haven't done that when most, if not all of their PSP titles are there baffles me to this day. Come on, Square. You have no excuse. My PSP is at the end of its playable life with the joystick showing wear and tear. Just put the game on the Store so can play it via my PS4. I wanted to like NT. I really did but they made it a chore to unlock the story. It killed any enjoyment I would've gotten from it.

6 to 12 is basically the golden age of final fantasy, they would all benefit from remakes, other than that tactics is obviously up there. And personally always open for a FF dissidia ressurection, they drop the ball REALLY hard with NT and that bs 3v3, could've been an amazing game but nop they blindly followed what nobody wanted.

I think Vincent in Dirge could use a DMC or FFXVI treatment, instead of just a thirdperson shooter, while Dissidia could use a new formula, that game was so repetitive as hell, you just fighter other main character/villain and a mannikin, not much of enemy variety

Ok, so here's my thing on ff IX, Now don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a remake and it is my personal favorite ff game, but I just think there's other games that need it so much more than 9: Ff2 had a nice story to me and outta all the ff protagonist, firion is my personal favorite, but I feel like that game could heavily benefit from a remake bc I'll admit it's not perfect especially the lv up system and how to lv grind ( I'm sure people know what I mean) Ff8 I feel like that game is way too easy bc with the exception of 1 fight, you can spam gf the whole time and it's not really fun. I alway felt like 8 wet to straight forward and we dodnt get enough time to get to know the characters especially in disk 1 where every character got on my nerves atleast twice. I feel like squall gets credit and recognition for every game he's in except his own game. And I played ff7 remake and i especially loved the fight mechanics and side missions and I said if they can do that with 7 there's no excuses for them not doing it with 8 bc after all, they were Seeds who just got 1 or 2 missions . 6 I would love the story to be expanded bc while 6 was a good game, it was way to short of a story with that many playable characters and I feel like I was barely even Terra considering she one of the biggest characters in that game. I'd love to see what they'd do with ffv especially with what they did with strangers of paradise. I feel like ff5 is almost never talked about and 5 was a really great ff game easily in my top 5

FF game Remakes that i want: FF1~6, FFT, FFT Advance, Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerberus (3rd person shooter) (non-FF) other square games: Vagrant Story (can be souls-like) , Parasite Eve series (3rd person survival), and Einhander i dont want remakes of: FF8 (not really interesting in terms of settings, characters and story, well... i guess a remake CAN fix that) FF9 (one of my favorite FF games, but somehow it doesnt need a remake, cause of how good it is already) FF10 (it may NOT my favorite, but still doesnt really need a remake. same reason) FF12 (same reason, my most favorite FF game. rather than a remake, i want ultimate edition / expansion, better dialogue sound quality, new maps (Rozarrian Empire) more quests. or better yet a sequel FF1XII-2 ...also the 3DS sequel - scrap that.)

FF tactic deserve remake , great story great sondtrack monster character etc , im playing FF tactics since kid and always try many job and their secret dungeon , they have a cut scene animation and its look so cool and FF 16 almost look remake from FF tactics

I would have to respectfully disagree on 10. I love that game but I think it'd be a better idea to remake older and more flawed games first.

Honestly with how well received the FF7 remake was received, combined with how much more appealing the combat system looks (have not played the game so can’t say it is or is not better), I can’t help but think many of these games would benefit from that same treatment! I love RPG’s, but I am sorry I do not love the standard turn based ones that are like final fantasy. Don’t get me wrong, I realize the combat systems have evolved enough over time, but ultimately, I prefer games more in the vein of Action RPG’s where the combat is more exciting and varied!
