Well, they don't need to, everything they care for is on the move with them. So while if they want to capture some specific landmark for some purpose and not holding the line means they lose their objective of securing that landmark, for the Eldar, avoid loss of life is more important than whatever they were fighting for in the first place. Their military goal is always secondary to not losing eldar lives. There's very few situations where holding the line is needed to secure their primary objective.

The Eldar have a lot more flaws than that. 4. Limited Numbers: Regardless of their battlehardened nature, the Eldar are still a dying race. There are perhaps only billions of them compared to the quadrillions of literally everything else, and that's being generous. For that reason, every Eldar death is a severe blow to their race. 5. Complicated Breeding: Eldar do not quite breed like mammals (thanks in part to their degenerate past), with the males having to mate with the females multiple times over a gestation period to impregnate them. This means they cannot replenish loses as quickly as other races. 6. Arrogant Nature: While partly covered under the Extremists category, this does bare mentioning. The Eldar are so arrogant due to their status as one of the oldest species in the galaxy that they actively look down on other races, especially humans. For this reason, they are prone to underestimating their opponents, and worse often refuse to ally themselves with potential alien allies even if it would benefit them. 7. Reliance on Prophecy: Instead of relying on logic and facts to completely dictate their choices, the Eldar are prone to follow the vague visions of their Farseers of potential futures, and often not to the best of results. While this can make them unpredictable, it also means they might not make the best of choices. 8. Honorless: The few times the Eldar do decide to ally themselves with other forces, they will still often betray them at the drop of a hat if it benefits them, making them extraordinarily untrustworthy. 9. Psychic Corruption: While partly covered under the Slaanesh category, this still needs mentioning. Just like Humans and even more than humans, Eldar are vulnerable to the corruptions of the Warp due to their race being almost entirely psychic. While only a small portion of humanity are psychic, the fact that the entire Eldar race is psychic makes this danger all the more prevalent 10. Decentralized: The Eldar are not a united species, instead having independently governed Craftworlds (and of course the Dark Eldar) who often will not work together and sometimes will fight each other. Say what you will about the Imperium, at least they are united under one banner and will fight the enemy as one, whereas the Eldar will not.

Most of those are wrong. 4, 5, and 10 all fall into the same category of low numbers. 7, and 6 are same category of arrogance. 9 is a lie. Eldar have the most stable and powerful psy abilities of any race. Outside Nids own Psy stability. They dominate Slaanesh in terms of protecting themselves psychicaly which is why Slannesh has to jump through massive hoops to snag Eldar souls of both Craftworld Eldar (Psychic) and Dark Eldar (not Psychic). 8 is not a flaw, thats a strength. Eldar only help Eldar which is the same strength Generation Tech preach about Humans only help Humans.

@@WarlockInTraining No, 4, 5 and 10 do not fall in the same categories. 4 indicates they have low numbers already, 5 indicates they have the inability to make up those numbers, and 10 indicates that they do not possess a unified government. How is their arrogant nature (6) and their reliance on prophecy (7) even remotely in the same category? 9 is not a lie, just look at how the Eldar Empire originally fell. And even with all that training and experience, which is commendable, the danger still persists. Hell, you even have cases where Tyranids have been corrupted by Chaos (look up Demonthrope). And dominate Slaanesh, they do not. If they did, then why do they need soul gems to keep their souls from being consumed by he/she/it? And 8 is a weakness. If you are completely untrustworthy, than that means you won't be able to cultivate allies. Even the xenophobic Imperium has truly honorable members and armies (a good example are the Tallarns), which ironically makes them easier to manipulate. There's a solid difference between looking out for your own and being a dick, and being dicks is precisely the point of the Eldar.

As their standard grunt tech didn't have as many gimmicks as the Gundam units, which suffered from over draining and uncalibrated energy outputs. Thus stretching battle time from roughly ten minutes (at start) to almost a couple hours in the later half of the series. As for the Aestivalis operational distance limits. That's only limited to the frames registered to the starship Nadesico. In the series, movie, and game, lone Aestivalis units have operated far beyond their homebase or assigned starship for hours and or days without dragging along stockpiles of spare batteries being carried along, like in the walking stick episode.

You forgot they have the advantage of precognition. Their farseers can see the future. In any case most Imperium commanders see the Eldar as low priority to fight. While their motives are alien and obscure and they're self-interested and have no problems killing as many humans as they need for what thy want, and are expert manipulators, and just not killing them is heresy, they're easily the least threatening xenos for humans. They're not interested in territorial gains, they're not interested in the extermination of humans like almost every other alien in the 40k universe, and very often they're willing to work with humans against a less reasonable threat. So many experienced Imperium commanders just don't bother fighting them unless they're being aggressive, and are willing to accept heresy charges to secure help from the Eldar to fight more threatening xenos or worse, chaos.

I figure Eldar can travel through the warp, but not as fast as Imperial ships with Psykers, and they do their best to stay sneaky. Figure whatever the odds are of an Imperial ship having warp trouble every week, the Eldar have those same odds every day. So they quickly pop in/out of the warp, traveling between webway entrances and their target location. Bonesingers on the ships make sure they are in good shape before and after going into the Warp

Eldar where more advanced, they created planets for fun (the Virgin Worlds) they were the ones commanding the armies of the Old Ones during the War in the Heavens and their psychic powers were unparalleled, at their height an Eldar could will itself back to life because it found being dead was boring after a few hundred years and they routinely created demons for as little reason as doing house work. Remember almost 90% of the Eldar empire was destroyed with the birth of Slaanesh, the shadow city within the webway (also creating their own version of the warp just to be able to actually WALK from one planet to another) and the self imposed isolationist who had done away with most of their tech/psychic creations to "get back to nature" on the craft worlds where the only ones to survive. Yes, that is right, the Eldar of the craft worlds were the equivalent to hippies/mountain men for the true Eldar empire.

Eldar Wraithguard and Wraithlords aren't constructs animated by AI. They're constructs animated by dead Eldar. When an Eldar dies, its soul enters the soulgem each Eldar wears, for later recovery and placement in their craftworld's soul matrix - which is how they keep their souls from being devoured by Slaanesh and the other Chaos gods. In times of war, they can call up their dead to pilot these wraithbone constructs: one for a Wraithguard and 3 for a Wraithlord. I don't know if that still counts as a 'robot' or not.

He forgot in the Good/bad mass is that thanks to the manipulation of Wraithbone Eldar are immortal. When an eldar is killed its spirit can enter a piece nearby and shelter in it until returned to the craftworld where it can then enter the infinity circuit and live there. If needed it can then be transferred to other equipment and help operate it. thus eldar vehicles and weapons become autonomous. Its this ability that powers the wrathguard. however, if the equipment is lost and broken the elders spirit can be sucked back into the warp, where the demons of slaanesh will take great pleasure in hunting it down and eating it.

Technically wraith guard aren’t robots in the way that they are more like a massive walking sarcophagus with a gun, wraith guards use spirit stones which are the souls of fall eldar as both an energy source and a mind to let them function

Excellent and thorough, though under specialization and tech, a single item could have been listed as both a flaw and an advantage spirit stones. These objects seems to have unlimited uses from powering weapons and objects to HOUSING THE COLLECTED EXPERIENCES OF THE ENTIRE RACE!! Ahem excuse me, the reason for the advantage is obvious they never lose what they have learned, but a critical flaw of this is that sometimes the more powerful "souls" can overtake the host hence loosing the individual and the chance for more growth. This is especially true with Phoenix Lord's, and exarchs essentially trapping the unlucky on their single path for eternity.

Wraith units are certainly not robotic. They are shells of wraithbone powered by eldar soul stones of their ancestors. They are not expendable pieces of robotic machinery, quite the contrast. Eldar risking the soul stones of their ancestors is for a dire circumstance. Also the wraith knights have a living pilot in them, well one of the pilots is living. :D

The Eldar have been around since the early Eighties. The Protoss were heavily inspired by the Eldar (psychic technology, highly specialised martial castes, and so on) not the other way around.
