This is one of the best videos you've done, I think. And you have made a lot of good videos! I am an English woman living in France, which I love and I want to say how much I like your message of positivity and how much I enjoy your styling tips. Thank you for making these films. I don't think I would be able to be so natural in front of the camera. It's an art. Very well done!

I watch a lot of influencers, and I need to say that I am so impressed that you always give tips that don’t push high end/expensive options. You say “dark jeans, white shirt, blazer”, which can be high end or less expensive. You say “pedicure”, and then confess that you do your own. At 72, I am of a generation who did our own nails. I refuse to have “ old” feet and I take pride in being able to self pedicure and polish my own toenails. You prove that anyone can look polished on a budget, and you give great fashion advice without promoting high end (expensive) labels. My husband’s French family don’t have a lot of money and always look polished. Thank you for great suggestions that can help anyone on any budget.

I've started REbuilding my wardrobe and it's been wonderful to implement these fashion styles. My son could not recognize me at the Mall today because I didn't look my normal self. He said, Mom, you look like a business woman and not my mom. I smiled at him and thought "Clean and polished". Thx Frédérique. 😚😉 This is my rule.

That is fabulous! So many mom's and women in general don't put in any effort into their appearance and then wonder why their hubby isn't looking at them. I learned about the classic wardrobe in modeling school, I'm not a model, but the lessons are the same as Frederique teaches. A woman can't go wrong with a closet containing a wardrobe built on these classic tips. And for those on a narrow budget, hit the thrift stores. Can't tell you how many new and gently used items I've donated because they didn't fit, or didn't suit my body type or lifestyle. Thrift doesn't mean junk. There's gold hidden throughout those stores. Leave the kids at home. No woman can shop with kids and/or men dragging along behind...unless they're paying.😘😁

All of these are great suggestions. I don't think this counts as a "rule," but a nice watch (analog, not digital) that I know I'll wear the rest of my life makes me feel put together. A classic watch with a metal or solid leather band is a beautiful finishing touch (and it doesn't have to be an expensive item, there are lots of options, new and used, that meet this need).
@nadab47503 жыл бұрын
I agree Rebecca. Also smart watches just for when you do sport...unless you need to monitor something for an actual medical condition. I don't need a watch to tell me when I've done enough steps or when my heart rate is up. 👱♀️❤

I took your advice and one of your videos and I love hats but they don’t wear much here in America ,my mother was very eloquent and very classy and wore hats all the time she said it was our English ,welsh Irish heritage, I still think there’s some French in my blood with my mothers maiden name, anyway I was the only one at church today with a hat on and I felt classy and I felt fine.

@Marielee McGill, glad you brought up the hats! In America it's not been popular at any time in my life and I'm 67. My mother dressed me to the nine's as a child; by the age of 12 I started doing the hat/ or scarf and glive thing myself. My hair has Never done well in wind so this has been part of my look in every season. Since the late 80's it seems that baseball caps have been worn by everyone except me...that us the only hat that I don't look good in. So, I Love hats and don't give a damn what anybody thinks. Oh, but take them off at a concert or anywhere they would be in the way. Also, the hair comes out of the hats looking fine! So, keep on with the hats; I know I will...oh, I have 8 of them and probably 70 scarves. Peace and love

Brava! Agreed 100% with these-- especially, my favorite, #10. We all need more of that! If I were to add one more tip for anyone it would be my Mom's advice: "Simplicity is elegance." But, then, I think that is the over-arching concept of the French woman's presentation-- simple, not over-done, clean-lined, well-maintained, confident. One of the benefits of getting older, I feel, is the deliciousness of being comfortable in one's own skin. A confident woman is happy in herself, secure in her talents, joyful in how she moves through the world and kind in how she treats others. She leads with grace. Love your channel, Frédérique!

Bonjour Frédérique, I'm so glad you appreciated my compliment about your good posture. My Grandma always said "standing proud doesn't cost a thing". Shoulders back and tucking in the derrière also makes us look taller, slimmer and younger... and of course remembering to relax the arms! I also enjoy wearing large hoop earrings during spring/summer, as they are a classic that also gives a carefree and fun vibe. Hoop earrings, a fringe, a touch of gingham and ballet flats, instant Brigitte Bardot! Hoops also look great with a black turtleneck in the cooler months. When wearing quality classics I also like to wear something eclectic to avoid looking boring, or too serious; showing the artistic and fun side of my personality. I would love to see your take on this concept Frédérique. Update... I just saw your "Chic and Unique" short...great minds think alike😉! Therefore, I would like to see a longer video on this subject, including your comments and suggestions. Maybe include a quality item from a charity store or market (eg. a silk scarf, leather belt)? 👱♀️❤

Neutrals are so much easier to style, too. Every time I buy a bright color, it doesn’t seem to go with anything but white/cream. Despite brights being on trend right now, I find myself buying fewer of them than ever. I love an all-white or cream outfit, especially.

If you find the right brights or colors that are the most flattering on you, they are much easier to wear. Most Colors can easily go with grey, black, navy, brown, IMO. I suppose Frédérique would suggest adding color using a scarf.

@MarieC8062 жыл бұрын
Totally agree that women should have basic neutral colors in their closets. Very elegant and classy. However, it can also be quite elegant to add a splash of color with a monochromatic outfit. A red scarf (red lips) with an all black outfit. A blue blouse/top with a white outfit, a brightly colored bag with neutral clothes for a pop of color. Then you are elegant while making a fashion statement. You don’t have to be completely bland to be classy.

People often comment on my baby-soft feet. It’s from really soaking and scrubbing them in a warm bath at least once per week, putting lotion on, and mostly, never going barefoot. I wear Birkies or Steggmann wool clogs around the house, depending on the season.
@nadab47503 жыл бұрын
Yes Kimberly, baby soft feet are achievable! I'm always on my feet at work, so my feet need some TLC. I also follow YT's Dr. Dray who is a dermatologist (who did ballet); and after her advice my feet have never been better. She also rarely goes barefoot. Kerasal foot balm is what she recommends (unsponsored). Also, look for a thick foot lotion/cream with urea (which softens hard skin and also salicylic acid which exfoliates the skin without using any tools. BTW, can you share which foot balms, creams you use? 👱♀️❤

Even though you have a French spin it appeals to me very much. I tend to gravitate towards classic. And I’m working on having basic pieces. Can get off track since I live in Texas and I see lots of big and blingy here. Not what I’m comfortable wearing. You’re my style goal! Lovely video with excellent do-able tips. Thank you. Wondering how I'm going to look put together/impeccable in tomorrow's temp of 39°. But I'm not complaining!! I much prefer warm weather over cold.

Loved this video - upbeat and practical. Might seem strange but I use my music to help me get my groove on. If I get the right track on the Sonos choosing an outfit is so much better! xx

Thanks, Frederique, these are great tips. I agree with Cindy below, I feel naked without earrings! And being confident is a big thing - I mean the kind of confidence that comes with age and experience in life, not a brash, cocky attitude. And I'd add to this, just being natural, being yourself, not copying others or trying to be something you're not just to look good or impress others. Looking forward to the next video. Bonne nuit

Loved your reminder to just be natural and be yourself vs trying to be someone else's version. This can be difficult with Media etc. Really trying to work on this one.

Love your makeup, hair and large hoops in this video! The pale lipstick reminds me of the 60's when I was in my 20's! 😉😘 I also think a bit of a fringe would look really cute, too!

The tip especially about how to not get makeup on your clothes is the best. I do that all the time, then it's impossible to get off. You have so much confidence great energy, you're an inspiration to me.
