@Stonkis Bonkis Yeah, it's just his weird head cannon, there isn't even a popular fan theory about her being the villain. Also, it's pretty solidly confirmed her powers are opening gates in space and time, given how you encounter songs from the 1940s in the 1920s setting. Finally she's spent her entire life trapped, and had others using her for her power, (primarily your character) so it's kinda the video game equivalent of victim blaming to try and see her as the villain. Her actions are somewhere between heroism and self defense.

2:38 Revan wasnt exactly the bad guy. The only reason he turned to the dark side was because he met the Sith Emperor Vitiate in Unknown Space and knew that the Republic was currently unable to match Vitiate's Sith Empire, so he came back to try to make the Republic stronger by conquering it and turning it into an EMpire
@MikaeruDaiTenshi2 жыл бұрын
I also argue that the this game doesn't deserve to be on that list, mainly because you don't "end up" being the bad guy, but you "WERE" the bad guy. Though, you still can be the bad guy by taking the dark side path, but that doesn't count, because then you're bad the whole game. About Darth Revan not being the bad guy, that's argueable, or let's say, a matter of perspective. I'd even argue that most Jedi are bad guys, because they force their rules on you, and don't allow emotions because they "can" lead to evil. In fact, it's their reaction to emotions that leads to evil, not the emotions themselves. Well, maybe except anger and such, mostly because they're 1. treated wrong, and 2. literally feared by the council. the irony is, fear is also an emotion that "leads" to the dark side.
@Calekoflight Жыл бұрын
That seems to be a big recurring plot trope in Star Wars. In the old Legends continuity, Big Papa Palpatine saw some greater outside threat that would destroy the Republic if it was left in it's current state. Yea, Papa Palps was evil as hell but the Republic was a stagnant mess of bureaucracy and corporate greed.

Honestly I’d go with the game Nefarious I mean, it’s literally the plot, you’re the bad guy trying to capture all the princesses. Even if you change your mind in the good end and stop your evil secretary from using your evil plan to take over the world, you’re still the bad guy kidnapping princesses, one of which you kidnap far too often for her to become hilariously used to it and even consider you a friend of hers. Plus, the bad ending was also memorable because it basically the depicted the outcome of the main character’s motives, like taking over the world, the princesses are sealed in crystals, you’re the worlds scummiest villain.

When you realize that you cant help it but feel incedibly bad when before dying he is strugling to keep fighting. The evil Revan was actually a dark-side false personality imposed on him by the evil-god-like Sith Emperor from clear across the galaxy, and that personality was destroyed when Malak damaged his brain. So then he fell into the hands of the Jedi, who put their OWN false personality into him out of desperation because they tend to forget their values and ethics whenever they're losing. Eventually the Jedi personality, which was crap quality compared to the Sith version, either decayed or blended into his original personality or something and... yeah, more long story stuff. lol

Dark souls is much more complex, things fall into shades of grey and even the wolf is basically suffering from PTSD from the death of his master, he is actually protecting the grave of his master because of it housing something necesary to do what his master was eventually corrupted by. Basically he is trying to stop more people from being corrupted as the corruption spreads unabated because no one is fighting it because he is stubbornly refusing to allow people to fight it. So he is doing the wrong thing out of pain, sadness and because he doesn't want anyone else to suffer his or his master's fate. There is even an alternate beginning to the fight where he recognises you as his savior in the past (yup time travel) and howls at the moon in grief in having to fight you to uphold his self created duty. He probably knows that the chosen undead is essentially immortal so he probably thinks he is just pushing you back, but because there is no way forward without his master's ring, he would actually be dooming everyone to become hollow. You aren't the bad guy in this or many other fights that have tones of grey to them, the game is supposed to be a tragedy. the fact that there are 3 darksouls with roughly the same endings is supposed to highlight the tragedy of eons of keeping the fire lit and the uncertainty of what is probably the correct path of darkness which is hinted at being our age. The age without gods or magic.

the biggest plot twist in games I've ever encountered is Alys an android game. the final boss is herself and its an impossible mission. the level is harder than some of the hardcore touhou project bullet hell game.

Mario thinks he's saving princess Peach but what he's really doing is trying to break up Bowser and Peach's relationship. He also goes around killing defenseless creatures and eating mushroom people.

I have a very uncommon opinion but here we go I feel like Pokémon should be on the list you literally kidnap animals to make them fight each other in an arena while other people watch and even make bets on pretty damn evil but I guess no one really thinks about this stuff.
