I like your picks mate. There's at least 5 there I've never heard of and need to check out. If you do a list of AOR albums that weren't included in the Louder list, 21 Guns are pretty good. They've got Scott Gorham from Thin Lizzy on guitar. Thanks.

That's a good choice. I think a show about great AOR albums that weren't on the list is probably going to happen and that will definitely be considered.

Great show! Much to the chagrin of my wife, you’ve helped me unearth some great new (new to me anyway) AOR bands; Diving for Pearls, Aviator, and The Storm in particular. I started going down the AOR rabbit hole as I was sampling some of your picks and discovered a band called Talisman that seems to fit your category as well. They sound pretty good, check them out! Also, for a slightly harder edged melodic hard rock sound, the Swiss band, Gotthard is one of my new favorites. A bit grittier, less keyboard oriented driving hard rock if that’s your thing.

Yes Talisman are good. Jeff Scott Soto on vocals. They do a cover of the Seal song Crazy that I really like. I like what I've heard of Gotthard but I missed them when they first came out in the 90s.

Great show and choices Steve! That Bad English debut is a knockout album top to bottom. One of my favorite releases of 1989. I believe that "Forever Young" from Tyketto would have been a big hit here in the States if it was released a couple years earlier. Cheers!

Hi John. Yes I was surprised how good the Bad English album was. When I got it I had only heard the hit ballad and I wasn't expecting the heavier songs to be so good. Yes I agree about Tyketto. There is a demo version from 1988 of Forever Young so they had the song for a while before it got a proper release.

Nice. I actually prefer Dare's 2nd album but Heartbreaker from their first album is a great song.

All these albums is great. Have them all on original vinyl(yeah..i am old). My favorite of these is Diving For Pearls and as close second i have Aviator. Some guys in Aviator played in Ellen Shipley's band early in the 80's.

If I did rank them Aviator and Diving For Pearls would be close to the top. Thanks for the great comment.

Hi Steve, just stumbled over your list and gave it a listen to see what you'd included, can't argue with any of your choices - I do own all the ones you chose and the others you held up as "extras", and most of the ones you mentioned in passing (Blackjack, Urgent, etc) A little surprised you didn't include a couple of big bands in the genre - expected perhaps the Foreigner or TOTO debuts- but nice to see some more obscure stuff like Aviatir and Diving For Pearls. I haven't seen the other list you used as your starting point, but if you ever do a part 2 you might also like some of the following if you don't know them (but I'm sure you do!!!) TALL STORIES S/T (Steve Augeri pre Journey) STRANGEWAYS Native Sons (Scottish band's 2nd album with Amerucan Terry Brock on vocals, absolute masterpiece!) ICON Night Of The Crime (If Priest went AOR it would sound like this utter gem) BALANCE In For the Count (Bob Kulick again) HONEYMOON SUITE S/T (Canadian band, glorious stuff!) ORION THE HUNTER S/T (Barry Goudreau et al from Boston, wonderful album) SIGNAL Loud and Clear (Mark/Marcie Free) SHADOW KING S/T (Lou Gramm from Foreigner and Viv Campbell from Def Leppard, one and done classic) Sorry, I'll stop now! As you can tell, I love this stuff! Keep up the good work!

The Rock Candy release of Diving For Pearls has 5 bonus tracks. "Texas", it was really a solo album as the only original members were Danny Malone and Jack Moran. It's expensive as when I first went looking for it the price was $100. Managed to get a CD for $29. I guess it came out in 2005 but my CD is stamped as 2016.

I always thought AOR meant ADULT Oriented Rock... Even ARENA Oriented Rock (and you just mentionned it now!) :) To me, AOR is not quite Hard Rock, lots of keyboards... Hahahahaha! I went and googled Yul Vazquez and know exactly who he was in Seinfeld! Tyketto i would def put in the Hair Metal category as opposed to AOR... I dont own any of the albums you mentionned... :)

Had Bad English back in the day, but not sure I'd buy another copy of it today. They were ok, but they seemed very formulaic.

@@rockandmetalinvasion I don't know the Alias album unfortunately. Honestly I think John Waite has a great voice, but the album suffered from some pretty bland song writing.
