Been looking at buying this metrel or the megger mft1741+. Which would you go with by experience? My work tends to be domestic, commercial, ev charging installations, EICR of domestic, commercial units, churches etc. Have you utilised the autosequence programming prior to testing an installation? Easy to use? Sending the results over to a test cert on both testers how easy is it, do they autosync over as you test or is it a case of sending after each test etc?

That's the same conundrum I'm in which to get. Megger or Metrel. The decision 🤯

Hi Daniel, with the MI3152 the firmware and software can be updated direct from our website, free of charge. Keeping the tester future proof. The memory system is one of the many advantages. If your doing all types of testing you can build your testing structure in the tester or on the software to make it easier to test and save results. Call me on 07554 669027 or email me brendan.beaver@metrel.co.uk and i can tell you more about the advantages. Thanks Brendan

I have have been using Metrel for some time now love it a lot. I am currently using the mi3152 my only gripe is the silver test button mine has gone faulty you have to press it really hard some times it feels like you going to push your finger to far. It is a very costly repair I was quoted £250 pounds by Metrel to change the whole screen I don’t understand Why, the problem is only minor which I was told by Metrel reps at the elex show still waiting for them to contact me. Guys at efixx are brilliant they explain this meter to the max love watching your vids.

Where is the 'variable RCD' function like on the Megger MFT series?
@efixx3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew if your talking about the different RCD types you can select them to match the installed RCD before testing. Thanks for commenting
@asp2173 жыл бұрын
@@efixx Hello. I am not referring to the different class of RCD (AC/A/B/B+/F) I am talking about the requirement to test a 30mA A class RCD at a higher range than 150mA at x5. For example, Hager require their 30mA RCDs to be tested at 250mA, so with a Megger MFT 1731 for example, you can set it to 50mA and then test at x5 (250mA). This proves the additional protection against electric shock (

sorry to say a failing tester .. and hopeless support in the UK . Been using one for a while, but out dated, firmware updates causing choas and now RCD tests all over the place, giving crazy results. Going back to Megger who run good support here in the UK . A shame because this one served its purpose for car chargers - first one to do it

Metrel is considered the tester of choice by serious professional electricians. They carry out more functions than your twist and go Fluke or Megger.

when regs change, metrel will simply put new features into an update an you update it (like a new improved tester) ... its future proof. If you want to improve or update your Megger you will have to buy a new MFT 🤬 I'm not anti megger btw... I got a mint condition megger 1741 from ebay for £650 in a bidding war as my first tester 😂, but direct from a retailer its £1k + which is waaaay over priced considering it does not have dedicated ev set up.... or 6ma testing... for that luxury you have to pay £1.1k... megger 1741+.
