It’s called virtue signaling. They think they are so progressive and not racist ( but look into there past and oh boy…). They accuse everyone who is not them of being racist. Personally I feel like most normal people who watch stuff for satire and entertainment are not racist. Yes there is racism in many people. Even black people can be racist. My definition of racism is calling everyone and everything racist based on their skin color and some derogatory statement or word the used. The N-Word by white people is a violation and therefore white people who use it are racist. To point this out makes you very racist. One you are pointing out a word and two you are labeling a race of people and segregating them from using that word. The word is derogatory yes, but it is racist if black people use it or white people. To even mention that you don’t use it or acknowledge your race excusing your self makes you racist because that is constantly on your mind. We’ve heard the phrase “you are what you eat,” people who get angered and have no forgiveness and label someone something are the worst people on earth. They who point it out are the most racist people on earth. I tend to want to love everyone even the racists. I hate racism not racists but hey racist cancel culture would call that racist.

Casting a South Asian actor could create its own minefield, though. South Asia is just as multiracial as the United States, having been settled for many thousands of years by people of at least three different racial stocks. And, as any Indian could tell you, even though the Indian government does not officially recognize race, there is indeed a divisive color line in India. Look at the movie stars in Bollywood - ESPECIALLY the actresses - and you'll see that most of the really popular ones look more like Greeks or Sicilians than what we usually think of as "Indian." Suppose one of those light olive-skinned men was cast as Apu. Worse yet, suppose he's a native-born U.S. citizen! He'd probably have to prove to angry fans that he really was ethnically Indian!

Apu the INCREDIBLY intelligent man who graduated with a tech degree, beating 7 MILLION other students. Apu who loves his job, because he loves hearing people's stories. A man who CHOSES to work a job he loves, NOT because he is Indian and NOT because he is FORCED to. Apu the Ladies Man, a man VERY popular with the Springfield Women. Apu the friend of Paul and Linda McCartney (The Beatles) APu who loves to design, build, and arrange furniture. Apu who is a workaholic, because he finds his home life stressful with his multiple kids Compare that to the Scottish with Willie. Compare that to Bumble Bee man. Compare that to the Ship Captain. Compare that to CHRISTIANS. Compare that to Nerds. Etc. Is Apu a perfect character? NO! He's not even a perfect man. I understand why SOME people may be offended by him. Yet he is FAR better than pretty much any other Simpsons character. He is humanized more than most other characters. More is known about him than most other characters. Ironic that the people calling Apu racist and to be taken out....are th same ones ignoring everything else that Simpsons makes fun of who they treat FAR worse. Why are they not trying to defend Scottish, Italians, Mexicans? Why not defend the Christians? Why not defend the Nerd or Fat people? The Texans? Rich people? Simpsons is meant to be light hearted fun that pokes fun of lots of different people group, but if the ONLY one you think is problematic is Apu....then I think that says something about you. Note: This is why it is called acting, because you are portraying something you likely are not... Miyam Bialik as Neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler is a rare example of someone playing a Doctor who actually had the degree to be it, neither Jim Parsons nor Johnny Galecki have degrees in Physics (Parsons has a BA in Theatre, Galecki dropped out of High School after one day of 8th Grade), Simon Helberg is really Jewish but not an Engineer, Kunal Nayyar was born in London not (though he did move to and grow up in) New Dehli and has no degree on Astrophysics, Melissa Rauch is Jewish (not a Polish Catholic) by birth and not marriage and neither voice she used on Big Bang Theory is her natural one... yeah, acting is weird, people do this thing where they pretend they are partially or greatly something they are really not... such a crazy concept.

I miss Frank Grimes the most. He was the only sane character ever to appear in the series. It would’ve been worse for him if he appeared on Family Guy.
@X2011racer4 жыл бұрын
@late4thegameNOW Jr is technically not dead, so he can still come back... if the writers want to; He could be the Sideshow Bob to Homer Simpson.

Grimes was not good nor sane like everyone make him out to be. Grimes was a stuck up creep who thought he was better then everyone. Nobody like him, homer was the only one who try to be his friends even invite him into his home and in return he was a jerk towards homers. Sure homer a idiot but he does get along whit other people which is why he has a job, friends and family. Unlike Grimes who look down on everyone around him that ad close he got to a making a family is knocking up a hooker? That not a sane man, that a arrogant guy who look down on someone else that had a better life then he ever did that it drove him insane to a point it killed him. It not like homer had a easy life either. He work for a madman who don't respect his work along whit being the only member of the family whit many mouths to feed. Grimes would not last five minutes in homer world.

@@INFERNO95 Yup. Even Mr. Burns himself has many fans. I've never heard of any Frank Grimes fans. I need to go back and rewatch that episode because I was looking at it with too much sympathy for Grimes and how he was treated. Seeing your comment is making me realize yeah, he was a highly unpleasant and unlikable character which is why the show writers decided to kill him off.

You should honor his memory by using the nickname he preferred: Grimey.

@@INFERNO95 He wasn’t stuck up. He had a joyless life ever since he was abandoned by his parents when he was a child. He worked hard and had little to show for it.

Bringing back even ONE of these characters would make the Simpsons look good again, at least for an episode. I mean, for crying out loud..."Lisa Goes to an Art Museum" is just trite.

I’m Australian. Checkout Bart vs Australia. I have never been offended by the way Australians are portrayed. It’s comedy, satire and a cartoon.

Although Harvey Fierstein was just making a cameo appearance via that character, I’d like to see him again too. But sadly the type of people like him who appear in your life are only there for a short time, and leave when you feel like you need them the most, though they were there when you needed them the most but you didn’t realize it [at the time]. They have to go, but you don’t want them to go.

Bit o'trivia: the character, Fry, on "Futurama" was never supposed to have a first name, but when Phil Hartmann was murdered, they called him Philip J. Fry in Hartmann's honor.
@midnightryder363 жыл бұрын
Actually Matt Groening named him Philip after his father, Homer Philip Groening. Matt confirmed this during the 2013 Futurama panel at the San Diego Comic-Con.

@@midnightryder36 :-O Wow. It would've been a nice tribute to Hartmann, too.
@midnightryder363 жыл бұрын
@@booksteer7057 Definitely. It's cool however that Billy West's characterization of Zapp Brannigan is based, in part, on Phil Hartman's voice and the way in which Hartman voiced Zapp in his audition for the role, Zapp Brannigan actually having been written for Hartman himself.
@johnnyd31583 жыл бұрын
Given Billy West’s performance as Zapp Brannigan from Futurama, he could have probably voiced Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure.

As much as I liked the character, it was never meant to be a recurring part. The show itself has 2 other recurring villains leaving little room for a third.

Note: the Critic is much more tied to the Simpsons than one crossover. It’s two creators were the Simpsons season 3 and 4 show runners. James L Brooks was the producer of the Critic. Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson) did a lot of the voices and was second billed So Matt groening fear that people might think them connected isn’t crazy.

Theory The reason why the Simpsons characters don’t age,is because it was all in a book Lisa has written.she probably had written it all,and the tree house of horror was stuff she wrote in Halloween.she probably exaggerated(because a lot of kids exaggerate a lot) a lot of times like Bart wants to get killed by sideshow bob,or that they owned an elephant once
