Interestingly, the first African player ever to play in UK football was Egyptian, Mohamed Latif who signed for Rangers 1935.

The first foreign player ever to play for a UK team was Austrian goalkeeper Karl Pekarna who signed for Rangers in 1905, but was only a Rangers player for a few months, because he returned to Austria due to home sickness.
