I had the fantastic fortune to accidentally fall into tickets for WM 30 literally the week before the event. The deafening silence of the end of The Streak brought such an amazing contrast to the massive explosion of cheers from Bryan's title win. It was utterly surreal in a way that I can't really effectively explain.

Honestly shocked that Rey vs. Eddie from 21 didn't feature on the list. Sure the story was a little bare-bones (Eddie and Rey were the tag champs but Eddie wanted to prove who was better between the two?) but the match was a rock solid workhorse match between two of the greatest.

Honestly Rey's mask did it's Hulk Hogan impression and said "this doesn't work for me brother"! They had a lot of great bouts but Mysterio's mask sliding all over and them having to stop mid move so Rey could fix it took a lot of people out of the match at WM21.

I loved the IC Ladder Match at WM 32. While it should have been Zayn vs Owen's in a Ladder Match to callback their Ladder war. This match delivered in terms of Talent,Spots and psychology. Cardona winning was really unexpected and Emotional(Let's forget he lost it the next night)

I find it weird that this list has every single WM30+ match and only one from before 25. I know a bunch of the early ones used the opener more like what we'd call the "pre-show" now but still.

Realistically, it took WWF/E a long time to figure out how to structure PPV cards. Honestly, the Monday Night Wars are where they finally started to learn, because they were forced to, as Nitro ended up having longer shows which started earlier, so RAW had to strike back with something attention-grabbing to pull viewers away. But even then, when I think of great opening matches, I usually think of either cruiserweight style fast-paced action, ideally tag teams or multi-man matches, or short, brutal main event type matches with personal grudges or gold on the line. 1997 WCW showed them how it was done, but their hiring ideology for talent didn't fit until the 2010s, when they really started fielding smaller guys and former independent scene stars.

One of my favorite Wrestlemania matches was the opener of Mania 8. Shawn Michaels, in his first PPV appearance after Marty Jannetty tried to dive through the window of "The Barber Shop", along with Sensational Sherry, vs "El Matador" Tito Santana. An excellent match between two of the best workhorses in the WWF, with commentary by the greatest duo in WWF history, Monsoon & Heenan.

After experiencing the tragedy of the 2014 Royal Rumble. Wrestlemania 30 is a show that I couldn't really enjoy as much in the moment because I was so invested in Daniel Bryan winning the WWE Title that I spent the whole show worrying that it wasn't going to happen more than focusing on the quality of the show I was watching, which in retrospect turned out to be a pretty great show! A monster indeed and why I would also rank Bryan vs HHH as number 1.

Rey vs. Eddie at Mania 21 deserves a mention. Yes, Rey's mask kept trying to ruin it, but it was well-worked, fast-paced, had nice counters, an invested crowd, an out-of-nowhere finish, and set the table for their feud soon after. Btw, Daniel vs. Triple H at Mania 30 is probably the first long match Trips has had at Mania that didn't feel boring as piss.

Right top 2. I disagree on the order, but honestly, when they're both that good, who cares. I mostly prefer #2 for the implications in the long term. Where #1 was more of a culmination of a journey, crowning someone who had long been crowned by the audience, #2 was actually a star-making performance, while still leaving the victor hungry at the end of the show, still wanting, because, even though he proved himself to be better, at the end of the day, it was his opponent who was at the top. The heel made his point, winning by being more brutal and clever, and then is still in the shadow of his opponent despite doing everything he could. It reinforced all the negative feelings that had been building up since the previous Survivor Series. Then they decided to book an escape the cage match to blow off a literal blood feud, because they didn't get the point of the match being in a cage. Still hate that THAT was their 5 star match, and not the WrestleMania match.
