My family is planning a week long camping trip. Even though car camping provides much more space for packing food i don't want to spend my vacation cooking and cleaning and our car is mid-sized so we are a bit limited on space. I think using backpacking meals is a great idea. We do go all out for breakfast but these meal ideas will be fabulous for lunches and dinners. I've learned so much about ways to car camp more efficiently by watching backpacking videos. We're also a bit of a minimalist family when it comes to camping so we tend to camp with just the basics anyway. I'd rather have a good comfortable sleep system than lots of pots and pans.

Yeah, there are a few things that I can only find at Walmart like the Idahoan soups, and I really like those.

Approx 2500 calories per person: Breakfast: 1.5 c museli with 2 tbs oil and .25 c protein powder Lunch: 4oz jerkey. Make your own with lean turkey or lean ground beef. It's really easy with a dehydrator. dinner: 1 c white minute rice (dry) 1 c instant refried beans (dry) 2tbs oil Two days of food this way packs down smaller than my extra clothes (which consist of shorts socks undies and one set of thermals) coffee, snickers and fruit, all of which I recommend, are extra 😅 . No dry milk needed, only water to rehydrate beans and rice and to moisten the breakfast, about 3 cups total.
