Always enjoy seeing a nothing bike made into something. Being able to see potential and possible options is an art. Enjoyed this.

Me too 🤙 so cool to add life to a bike that was otherwise unloved 😅 glad you enjoyed it!

This idea is also very close to me. I am buying a very rusty bike from landfill which suit to me and try reanimate it. Generally I maintain the frame, change the drive set, rebuilt the wheel, regenerate all bearings. It is time consuming but it give my much many fun!

After seeing your ride I'm so happy I had the bafang mid-drive motor fitted to my Gary Fisher big sur mountain bike it enables me to ride much further and to tackle those nearly hill climbs while still getting a workout and i can't wait to see the build of this bike next week 😊
@toastyrides2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a great setup! Stoked for you to be able to ride far with the bafang setup 😎🤙 Thank you!! Will post it as soon as it’s done 🙌🤙

I dig the Slipstreams, I pick those up whenever I see them affordable enough
@toastyrides2 жыл бұрын
Nice! This is the first one I saw for sale around here, but since then I’ve seen another one and a Windstream (or similar, can’t remember the name) or two!

I am looking forward to see the Nexus system in action, never had it. But it looks nice for a bike like this!
@necrodefecator2 жыл бұрын
Nexus is easy to install/tune and very low maintenance, it*s a cheap way to upgrade a old frame.
@toastyrides2 жыл бұрын
Me too!! It’s really quite a nice system, especially if you find them for a good price 👍 And as mentioned, quite low maintenance. Plus chains are cheap! 😆

I have one of these I built with a 9 speed deore 700x42 conti gravel kings and bmx bars, fun little bike

Great bike, the head set has corroded into art. I just started commuting on a 26" bike and I am finding 700c irresistibly attractive. Fingers crossed for an easy build.
@toastyrides2 жыл бұрын
Yes! I think it will stay, as long as the internals are ok. Would suit the patina/Klunker look I’m going for. 700c is definitely faster, or less effort for the same speed, although I normally ride 26ers 😎🤙

nice the slipstream triple triangle cruiser sweet
@toastyrides2 жыл бұрын
Haha yes! Such a unique bike. There’s a curvier one I saw when trying to find this Slipstream in a catalog called “GT Rapid Transit” 🤩 it’s still a triple triangle but the tubes are all curvy!

I like those handle bars on that bike SWEET!

Interesting, enjoyable and instructive. I must have missed something. Slipstream or Streamline? All the best.

Slipstream this one, I’ve seen other similar models since buying this. Windstream I think was one?

Hi, Just found you channel - congrats it’s awesome! I’m also based in Auckland NZ and inspired to do a resto-mod on a 90s MTB. Would love to find my first MTB (Trek 930) but might be a bit hard.. Just wondering whether you had any advice on where to source bikes and parts (beyond FB marketplace and trademe) locally? Keep up the great content!
@toastyrides2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks heaps! Glad you found the channel haha. There’s a Facebook group that has a lot of local retro mtb guys called “Classic, Retro, old or shit mountain bikes”, it would be worth a try asking for the bike there as someone may have one sitting around? Also “bike shelf” on Facebook would be worth a try! Thanks heaps!
