DO NOT use toothpaste on your glasses to get rid of the scratches. DO NOT use anything on your glasses to get rid of the scratches. If they are prescription glasses, you will be slowly altering the prescription. The lenses are slowly ground in a particular curvature to get the prescription, by using an abrasive on them you are removing layers of the lens and changing the prescription. Also, If you have any special coating on your glasses, like an AR coat, DO NOT use the alcohol mix they tell you to use. It will eat the coating. Just buy the special cleaning fluid they sell in the stores. It will cost you, but save your glasses.

Depending on your glasses, if you have special coatings, for example, that glasses cleaner is terrible. I suggest washing your glasses under a faucet to rinse off any particles that could scratch them, and then using regular old dish soap to get rid of any oil or fingerprints. Also, that nail polish on the edges, could make it scratchy and bad for lenses.

Soaps can erode the coating over time even if you wash with soap rarely(once every few weeks? Eventually 1 year later the effects can be seen). You just need a good lens cleaner cloth(just feel with your hands...too stiff is less quality, soft is better). All glasses shops sells these items if you lose yours). Never wash the lens(this is what I was told by the pros), but other parts you should wash like the temple/temple tips.

Some of these things are not recommended(soaps, dish cleaners) as they can clean off the coating on the lenses which would effect the vision after some time. If you want glasses to last longer, don't do it. Wipe it with the lens cleaner cloth(often comes with the glasses you bought) and only wash the temple/temple tips/nose pads.

I live with an optician. Please don't rub soap or toothpaste on your glasses. Get a better quality lens, and they won't fog or scratch very easily. Please don't make your own cleaner. Actually, you shouldn't use zeiss, either. A high concentration of rubbing alcohol will royally screw up your lenses. Technically, if you sew cleaning cloths into your clothes, you should hand wash them with dish soap. Fabric softener (there's a bit in laundry detergent) will make your lenses foggy. Seriously, people. This is your vision we're talking about.

i dont clean my glasses, last time i cleaned them was a few months ago and that was with my sleeve i dont use my glasses case i never take off my glasses unless im sleeping or showering idc if my glasses fog up, just take them off, why the hassle just push the damn glasses back up when they fall who cares about the scratches on the glasses, you cant see them when u put them on the only glasses problems i cant fix is that when its hot my bridge is sweaty so my glasses r sweaty and smelly and people take off my glasses and say the most annoying thing ever * dumbass voice * "u look so weird without glasses, how many fingers am i holding up?" * wiggles fingers * lol u stoopid im holding up 6 fingers
