The only reason I would not rate My Stand In that highly is that certain plot lines were rushed and…let’s be honest, it’s not exactly the type of bl you can watch on a monthly basis right? Like there needs to be some comic relief but there’s death and regret and sadness…so that’s why I think people always go back and watch the classic “semantic error” or “Kinn Porsche” because we all know you ain’t a bl fan if haven’t seen those. “I hear the sunspot” is a new series but it’s not exactly new because a similar movie in the past under a different name ..so it clearly has a following that has carried over for years (I’m one of them) - I’ve just heard about this “Ossan” series and sequel and so excited to watch it because the reviews are quite good and I could use some good comedy 😆

I’m not really agree, but I’m not huge fan of bl dramas and don’t watch everything which raised, so may be my opinion is not related to real bl fan :) for me “stand in” is masterpiece due to mean leads’ acting and plot story of toxic relationship. Personally i didn’t see a lot of drama (even straight) where male lead loves somebody else during long period. Usually male lead fell in love from the begging to female lead or at least not love somebody else. So this was for me fresh and not usual plot. Also to see real negative, egoistic lead is something not very common. Yes we see offen dominate and jealous lead, but he remains noble, here it’s different. He is really egoistic and toxic person. I would like precise, that I didn’t like acting of support cast and the end of some characters was too “happy” for me.

Unfortunately, the ranking was down. It's lower than #9 and #10 in this video. But yeah. For me, Wandee Goodday should definitely be on the list. I feel like a lot of people find lighthearted, funny shows with healthy relationships in dramas boring.

@@Haruka0703-u7f that’s a great way to describe it! And the “side couple” Oyei/Cher were amazing! And they even had the first ever legal gay wedding in a BL series. Idk if I worded that right, but like it happened after the bill was passed in real life, so at the timing was just really cool. And the 4 main actors Great, Inn, Thor + Fluke were all so awesome!!!! So much chemistry all around. Good romantic chemistry in the couples, great brotherly chemistry between Great/Thor, great familial chemistry between Great/Fluke. I’m ranting lol sorry. I just really loved it!! I literally just finished rewatching the series 3 hours ago 😂😂 so it’s super fresh in my mind. I love that it’s forever offered to us on YT

The top 3 deserve their spot. I am just baffled why majority of actors from Thailand don't have the skills of the East Asian counterparts (Japan, Korean, Taiwan, China), given that they've been producing the most number of BLs yearly. Acting as a craft should be natural, like we are not watching a school program level of acting. You don't need to cry much, distort your face or move your head much while talking. It just needs to be natural, like you are not acting. I have to say, the actors of I hear the Sunspot are the best I've seen so far this year. Their gazes and nuances pierces through the emotion of the viewer.

A totally agree with you. And it is one of the reason why I have difficulty watching most of Thai BL and I sadly do drop some of them. Except 4 Minutes and My Stand-In. There's 2 to 3 great Thai BL a year even though they produce around 40 to 50 BL's a year. Go figure.

Omg even their music is so bad like I rate Jeff and Non so high also Nu New is good too but not on their level as they can compete with global musicians with their own songs but rest of them fall so flat like recently I saw a MV of Phuwin legit sooo fricking bad I couldn't even finish it. For me despite being restrictive I love CBls they are the epitome of acting like I still can't move on from Untamed, Word of Honor and Stay with me. Japanese is unforgettable as well cuz they have cracked their niche of making it feel animated and their physical comedy is top notch. Taiwanese has lil bit of everything so it's comfortable to watch. But the last thai BL I genuinely was invested in emotionally was Moonlight Chicken Dinner, wonderful story writing Khoutung and Fourth made me actually cry (I don't usually cry watching thai bls) also I think fourth is actually a good actor dunno why he isnt explored much and just kept for kamedies he would do so much better if he gets another partner with a serious storyline. I am sorry gah dayum I yapped so much.

They’re good but the problem is that many Japanese BL actors seem very reluctant to kiss properly, it’s so unrealistic. They act toward each other more like middle aged couples rather than young guys supposedly in love, there’s no passion or intensity, that’s what let’s the shows down.

True that’s why I was surprised when the video said it’s rated lower than other BLs, not to hate on Thai BLs but Thai BLs are so saturated, there’s tons of them out there and a lot of them are hit or miss bec of how generic most of their BLs are. Meanwhile, a 4 episode Life: Senjou no Bokura made me feel so much emotions in just 4 episodes. Taiwanese and Japanese are my fave BLs so far, I have some with Thai but a lot of their BLs lately have been generic and repetitive school BLs but the good ones are really good. Meanwhile, Taiwan has YNEH and I am also in love with The On1y One right now, it’s another school BL but it makes me feel nostalgic and idk I feel a lot with that BL

I think the basis for the video is perhaps the MDL rating. Wandee Goodday is at 8.1. Jazz for two and MLMU is at 8.2 Wandee Goodday is my personal number 1 and has a comfortable place in my heart. MLMU would not be on my list. But therefore one or two JBLs.

I really enjoyed Century of Love - the actor playing San was so good, it really felt like he was channeling “elderly gentleman” energy even with his small mannerisms, and the way the supporting cast circled around him so organically, it really brought the story to life!

Lol what do you mean Japanese BL dramas are often rated much lower compared to other BL dramas? They have produced the best BLs if we are being honest. MOST Japanese BLs are not cringe, the writing is great and the acting on point. And above all, NOT BORING. Old Fashion Cupcake? Life: Love on the Line? Cherry Magic? Eternal Yesterday? Our Dining Table? All Classics. And this year, apart from what you included, they have Love is Better The Second Time Around which is even better than the number 1 on this list, Cosmetic Playlover and Sugar Dog Life which are already promising in its first few episodes.

Don’t get me wrong, what I meant was most Japanese BL dramas are being rated for much lower if we compare it to Thai BL dramas. Most Japanese BL dramas only average for about 8.0 even if the story is much better (and concept also) while some could get as high as 8.5. Some people just might be a bit critical when it comes to JBLs compared to Thai/KBLs hence the lower ratings.

Don't get me wrong..about MY LOVE MIX UP I feel like MLMU is over-hyped by all bl fans, and i can absolutely get it why it was a success series since it's first day of airing coz GEMFOT shippers like me were eagerly waiting for the series to air since who knows from when, bcoz that's how much we missed them and wanted to see them together acting in bl series,we just couldn't get enough of their chemistry🤌bcoz that's how much they impacted on us with their both series MSP - MLC✨but we waited for so long to only be exposed to bad acting(idk if they're acting was bad or the direction),bad production, the script is like it's written on the night before the submission.. It's just so messed up, the episodes are just not adding up,the whole series feels so unnatural,everyone's acting felt like they're OVER-DOING it, especially Fot's It feels so cringey, I was never affected or felt uncomfortable by Fot acting adorable, being a dumb baby,before MLMU(maybe there lack in their acting workshop or again the bad direction)Like in MSP - MLC GEMFOT lacked nothing from their chemistry, to their acting it felt like they bought the characters to life,unfortunately that's not the case for MLMU.. The series lacked so much to the point that I had to drop it in EP3:((

I never thought I would be critical of GemFot after their masterful performances and chemistry in MSP and MLC. I can't watch MLMU because it's too sad and heartbreaking to see them being reduced to this

@@soso_skz I rewatched the original Japanese series yesterday again, it is also a bit long with not much happening, but, so much better than the new series ! All the Japanese actors are better, especially the one playing Aoki and the actress playing Hashimoto ! It must be the direction and the way they chance the storyline, for my feeling the same happened with the remake off Cherry Magic, and I am afraid the Thai version of Addicted too ! I love Japanese BL's, even when the pacing is slow, they are very poetic, the actors beautiful and first class !

The Sign is brilliant but it's not a BL tho it's a any other series where the main characters happen to be Gay. Ma favourites on this list are: UNKNOWN, Love For Love's Sake, I See The Sunspot, Ossan's Love Return, 4 Minutes, My Stand-In and Jazz For Two. Opposite of the popular opinion Century of love was not to my taste. I though that Daou was overplaying and his body language was disturbing me. And I'm not into adaptation the way Thailand does it. I did watch the first 2 episodes of My Love Mix Up and Cherry Magic to give them a change but I got disappointed each time so I drop them. I will try again with Ossan's Love with very low expectations.

I've seen 4 of these so far, and I find it hard to pick a favourite, but Unknown would be my likely choice. I listen to the OST daily. Something about the emotions of the music. My Stand In is a close second. But Love for Love's Sake and Jazz for Two are not far behind, either. Some others I really, really liked; We Are, Be Your Star (Vietnam), The Sign, Two Worlds. I'm looking forward to watching the others. So little time, so many BLs.

When i watch bl series last year, i can say that some of bl series is good then i will give my own opinion what bl series is high rated to me this year.. The stand in 1st Unknown 2nd 4 minutes 3rd Me if i rated the series base on story and production quality and main characters act... Thanks

BL series Unknown, Jazz for Two, and Only Boo are my favorites. I'm excited to watch I Hear the Sunspot. I don't think I'd watch My Love Mix-Up since I loved the Japanese version of this series.

Century of Love has the potential to be a great BL series, but it suffered from some plot inconsistencies. The actor playing Wee could benefit from more acting lessons, but he still delivers a decent performance. With a more serious tone, it could have been a perfect 10 series for me. Despite this, I managed to watch it until the last episode compared to Wandee Goodday whom I dropped midway because it was quite boring (😬).

Unknown and Grey Shelter are my favourites for my intelectual mind, my stand-in is my favourite for a mix of complexity and handsome lovers, and jazz for two is sweet. I've decided to sit 4 minutes out until it is completely because it seems q little disjointed and I think it will make more sense if watched complete.

I've just finished watching Century of Love...on GagaOOlala: outstanding! Long ago I also watched I Hear the Sunspot: a little jewel! Now watching I Feel you Linger in the Air: surprising, exciting.Waiting for more - the list here seems promising.

I Feel you Linger in the Air is so good, it gets better each episode. That and The Sign are the best Thai Bl's from the 23-24 season for me. The Sign has become my favorite BL period, it was so ambitious.

A good list. The only one I haven't watched is the Ossan one. Right from the very first Ossan's Love, I have deeply disliked this series so I won't watch it. This leaves me conflicted about the upcoming Thai version, because I love Earth and Mix! It has been a mixed year so far, because for all these good shows, there have been some droppable clunkers as well. I have mixed feelings about My Love Mix Up (Thai) because I loved the Japanese original and the manga, and there seems to be something lacking in the Thai show and parts of it have wandered far from the manga - such as Mudmee's ridiculous father in the latest episode. 4 Minutes is the best of the currently airing shows. My Stand-In, Century Of Love, and Unknown were excellent and will be rewatched at some point. I'm surprised The Sign isn't on this list, or is that classed as a 2023 drama? A couple that are under-rated but good are Meet You At The Blossom & Takara's Treasure. It's a shame Blue Canvas of Youth was pulled by the Chinese authorities because the first 4 episodes made it a show shaping up to be one of the best of the year.

The only thing I don't like in Love for Love's Sake is its _title._ Otherwise, it deserves all the praise it receives! (I'm dying to watch it again! ❤) On the other hand, I don't get Jazz for Two rated so high. Yeah, it's a gorgeous cast and all, but it's just abusive behaviour misconstrued as 'love' like in early days BL. They needed therapy more than boyfriends!

TBH it not being on list make it more believable to me, We Are is not bad but its bland, we had so many BL like this already and only thing that made We Are stand up is cast... but I just refuse to support it when I know gmmtv and director New half assed it and it could be much better if they put some effort in it.

"My Love - My Mix-up" is terrible. It is a juvenile high school series obviously written just for Gemini and Fourth. I love knocking it. It is as bad as "My School President." Both had a horrible script. If you want to see Gemini and Fourth at their absolute best, although as supporting characters, then watch "Moonlight Chicken." "Only Boo" may be a high school series but it doesn't revolve around high school. Some of these actors are getting "too gray" to be high school students. Gemini is 20 years.
