Looking back this is definitely something I wish I had touched upon. No more generic outfits for class changing (or at least keep your character's color palette) and certainly the crit animations need some ridiculous GBA flair to return as well!

I like the way Awakening and Fates handled the support conversations, but I want them to have some more depth to them. Also, enough with dragon final bosses. What I liked about POR/RD is that the final boss isn't an effing dragon. Come up with something refreshing for a final boss. The lord should also be something other than royalty, and uses a main weapon other than a sword.

I miss height advantage from Radiant Dawn. It added another layer of strategy to things. To put it simply for those who never played the game: a lot of the maps had ledges that made the maps progress vertically rather than horizantally. Whoever was on top of these ledges had an inate advantage of someone tried to fight them from below.

I think two of the biggest things I want from FE Switch is that it doesn't have the Avatar character because I feel that it really creates a roadblock for creating a character that is supposed to reflect us, like at point in Fates I just found myself saying "I wouldn't do this and it really doesn't make sense for Corrin to try this" which was a different feeling in Echoes where we had Alm with his ideals, beliefs and personality and I feel that the Avatar character becomes more of a means to move the story forward than being a character to the point where I wanted to follow the side characters more than the actual Avatar. My second thing that I want is that I sure as hell hope it doesn't try to regurgitate Awakening. Despite having a different cast and new "unnamed" continent Fates and Awakening felt too similar and even something like Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn where they take place the same continent, cast of characters and villains they felt very different from one another. Again to go back to Fates I feel that a lot of things in that game can be explained with "Awakening did it"; why do we have kids here? "Awakening did it" Why is there DLC where the kids fight the main villain? "Awakening did it" Why are there random monsters here? "Awakening did it"

KevinBelmont I swear there were times I could relate more with Alm than Corrin. Alm was inexperienced in large-scale war, and I was able to understand that as a player. While corrin(who’s supposed to be the player) almost felt like a pro.

For me, I hope the amiibo function remains the same like Fire Emblem Fates where you can summon the unit you scan; For Example Marth, Battle them, then have them join your party for the rest of the game. I felt that the amiibo function in Echoes was a bit disappointing because the amiibo: - Stays for one turn only - has no voices, just phantoms. - Can’t be controlled And a lot more. One plus side is at least most amiibo now work with the game.

Honestly the biggest things I want are less genaric colors (such as Gregors green into blue). The lack of child characters. Unless they have an actual story significance like Geneology and Awakening they should not return.An an avatar that isn't as plot important

My top 11 (cuz why not?) in no particular order: -Great and Long Story -Diverse Map Objectives (also i'd just like to point out that defeat the boss missions are basically the same as rout the enemy missions if the reinforcements are not overwhelming or infinite and if u make a seize mission where the boss is on the seize gate/throne than its also the same as rout the enemy) -Great Characters -Fleshed out and Interesting Lords (Yes multiple Lords please) -Mila's Turnwheel -Great Villains -Tactical Choices with great affects on gameplay and story -Third Tier Classes -Bonus Experience -Gaiden Chapters/Side Quests -Great and More Animations (More beautiful animated cutscenes, but also better battle animations. I can't be the only one who misses how cool magic was in gba or even tellius. Now its just "fireball" and "magic ball." Although I will say i think fates had better crit animations (it was more than just spinning your lance, although i think it should still get even better) not including myrmidons and swordmasters who's crit animations were way better in gba. Astra is pretty sweet though.

Sean Really? I thought it was a wonderful addition to the franchise. While I don't think you should be able to upgrade it to have 10+ retries like in SoV, I think having three redos for classic is great because honestly classic mode in harder fire emblems it's just a pain because restarting the same chapter over and over again (especially if it's for dumb reasons).

What I want is: 1. Great story, long and intricate 2. Interesting and multi dimensional characters, not just based around one, overly exaggerated, characteristic 3. No S ranking! The lack of relationships really takes away from the story. the story is bland without and love, betrayal etc. It also just doesn't make sense, people can't be paired off with whoever you want. 4. Villains! (do I need to say more) 5. Big game. I mean the base game is long, not just have a bunch of dlc to make it bigger 6. Bring back weapon durability. The stat penalties made the A and S weapons useless. (sacred weapons would have unlimited uses) 7. Side quests and side stories, playable during the main game or post game (not dlc locked). They would give some backstory to some of the side characters. 8. Better my unit (or no MU). Have the MU the friend or something of the main lord. 9. Very limited class changing. It just doesn't make sense, like wtf, here Archer, have seal, now your a Swordmaster! Well there are some things I want.

2, 3, 4, and 8 are where I agree with you the most. From what I hear from the fandom FE hasn't been known for impressive storytelling but I can only hope that the story and character writing this time is at least good, hopefully they dial it back on the "ACTUALLY THEY WERE POSSESSED BY AN EVIL THING" this time around.

There has only been two games where there weren't lord main characters, as far as I know and it's still a little iffy. Ike from path of radiance was a ranger class and just a mercenary, he was lorded in the later half of the game to lead the army, but he was on half a lord. It was technically but most other lords and royalty were not a fan. He gave it up because he isn't about that life.

Okay. So honestly I want avatars back. Like I know that avatars aren't the best given how Corrin turned out but I still found Corrin kinda fun problems aside. Like maybe do the avatar like Mark. As in, the avatar is there but not shoved in your face. Also avatars aside I feel like customizable color palettes for characters should be a thing. Like I got the idea from how you could change weapon colors in PoR and RD.

Yeah, Mark or Kris I think were the less intrusive / less harmful to the story avatars. I'm fine with something like that. I just think it's too much of a gamble and you lose too much from having the player created character be the central plot focus in my opinion

The only reason I'd want dungeons to return is if they are either the only place to grind or they have some story significance. The dungeons in Echoes were just boring. It was fun the first time, but that is it.

Fates did have mostly false advertising when it came to choices. Besides from the end of chapter six and whether or not to kill a certain character later on in Conquest, it was nonexistent. I would've loved to see options (or perhaps forced if you fail particular chapters) to switch sides and/or other changes as there were plenty of opportunities in Fates to do so.

TheDealSealer I specifically remember that I'm order to access the Gaiden chapters, you have to KILL OFF most of your army. So I believe you don't mean new players, you mean really bad players.

TheDealSealer From my research, Gaiden chapters are specifically designed to get new characters basically for free, and to level up what's left of your army. So they had to make them passable with even the lowest number of units.

I think they should have each character have a limited number of possible support conversations like in the older games. That way they can focus on fewer, but better quality supports. I also, ironically, would like more interactions between the original and children characters if they bring back the parent/child mechanic. I just always thought it was weird that the child characters couldn't interact with their uncles, aunts, or characters in the army.

Excellent video Steve, I agree with at least most if not all of your points. Some things I would like to see are 1) ALL mounted units have the Canto ability. 2) Put Rescue and Shove as mechanics into the game that are abilities of ALL units. 3) Bring back a ledges mechanic from Radiant Dawn. 4) Include weapon durability and weapon weight along with a Weapon Repair feature, seriously repairing weapons was an awesome mechanic why hasn't that returned before. 5) Give ALL classes a cool kill skill, e.g. Stun for flyers, Deadshot for bow users, Colossus for Axe wielders etc. 6) While I enjoy the bigger emphasis on skills many of them just feel unimportant, and more like filler skills than anything else, such as the Rallies and the Seals like Seal Defense. Skills like these I would like to see removed in favor of something like Resolve or Adept for instance. 7) Lastly I like the weapon forging it's something that I have a lot of fun with but Fates' was just too gimmicky to be enjoyable and because of this I would like to see them reuse either Radiant Dawn's (my personal preference), Shadow Dragon's or Awakenings I will add that I liked how in Echoes you could turn a Steel sword into Silver but otherwise love RD's and SD's forging systems. Oh yeah one more thing, bring back the ability that Laguz had and that's the ability to shift granting them higher movement or in the case of the Hawk laguz to fly over canyons, huge pits etc. In most ways the beast units of awakening and fates are better than the laguz but there are few ways that they aren't. Being able to shift into their beast forms on the map is one, the other is having kill skills unique to them. Unless you count beastbane but I was thinking more of skills like Roar, Savage, Howl, Shriek, Quick Claw, Ire, Glare etc. In another game I hope that beast shifting units will have the ability to shift into their beast forms like the laguz could and remain in them granting them higher movement and in the case of Fog of War maps higher visibility.

I don't see how they are awesome they just seem like a cheap gimmick to make fighting tough bosses easier you shouldn't be able to lessen a bosses strength, defense stat etc. Rallies I suppose can be useful but I'm always like why would I rally when I can attack or something instead? Basically they use up a turn that arguably could be better used doing something else.

Definitely interesting, and a good point since it's switch and it could go either way. Considering we have games like Xenoblade Chronicles on the Switch though, I want to see THAT level of detail and graphics in it overall. But I will say the sprite work is consistently amazing and holds up better over time.

Yeah, Conquest is the weakest Corrin in my and some others' opinions. One of my friends likes Birthright Corrin best, while I like Revelation Corrin most. I recommend you look up Corrin's supports with the rest of the royals, including Shiro, as well as his supports with Felicia and Jakob. Sorry for my tone in my earlier comment. I'm really tired of people acting like Corrin was just the worst Lord in the franchise.

Corrin has some really excellent supports and i agree more with corrin stands than chrom opinion and he played a more important role in his story than robin and mark and she/he is really nice above everything else, However that said, he suffers from many things: ~Her/His introduction as a character can be really cliche like the whole dragon awakening thing which is trope n°1 from shonen ~While it is easy to agree with corrin, and many people can easily self-insert themselves into the story due to corrin, it also makes corrin bland as a character and a pushover, the whole i won't kill and ends up killing more, the way he failed to stand out when arguing against garon and still submitting to him to do his bidding (which gets even worse in conquest). -because corrin act like a pushover at the beginning, and weep every time someone die (or seem to), it makes each death more and more over melodramatic, and dull each death (birthright was a bit better on this point) even important death, if you cry all the time then it is not special anymore when you cry for someone (btw this one is basic writing advice) -He act so naively that sometimes it makes corrin look dumb, i know corrin is supposed to be ignorant the whole locked in castle thing but they handle this unevenly with corring gaining burst of perspicacity some time (because plot device, i know but there is better way to handle it) -While he has a lot of good support, he has also some of the worst, (especially M!Corrin) with support such as the one with camilla (and S hinoka), being on level of trashy incest anime, so it is better to have quantity over overall quality? well, in my opinion "a rotten apple spoils the barrel" -the way corrin story with the kingdom, etc in revelation is too much of a self-inserted fantasy to be called decent, you only need to add an harem to hit trope bottom. (and yes i know they had this mangaka to help for the plot and tried this anime style but from an anime and fire emblem enthusiast point of view it was not well implemented), there is also other things bothering but those are nitpicks So is Corrin the worst character in Fe? not by a long shot. In fact a lot of those default are improved as F! Corrin making her a more feminine (i know parity but try to talk about equal wage to a norhian) and cohesive character (does this mean a character has to be manly? No just not (pushover+naive+overly crying)*(plot armor+power dropped from nowhere+over the top ending)=too much cliche), and yes corrin act differently in each games but here is the catch, it's still corrin you cannot overwrite conquest corrin with birthright/revelation, sure you can convince yourselves but then it is just bias/deny. So while he is a decent character and still is far more likable than some harem-cliche-anime character, It is not enough when your carry the story on your back (with Azura help), making corrin one of the most disappointing lord in FE. So of course there is ground for corrin to be your favorite, however this was a reminder then even if a lot of people shit talking about fates and corrin, there is also a reason in the first place why it was criticized in the first place and argument to be back it up, which means haters cannot discard corrin as trash and you cannot discard other argument as trash as well. On this good day and lets pray for the fire emblem switch game that will unite this community.

One thing I hated with the latest Fire Emblem was two things: the downgrade of critical hit animations in previous FE games a character when doing that sweet crit there would be a sweet animation to grab your attention. Now when your character gets a critical hit all you get is a screen displaying your characters face and just a regular attack animation its boring. And also can we get the recruitment theme back? I don't remember ever hearing Together We Ride on the 3DS games.

Since everyone else is making lists... 1. Light magic. I miss it, bro. 2. Some actual worldbuilding, okay? You don't have to go all Tellius on that; Echoes did it fine. I just want it to feel real and lived-in, you know? 3. Unless it's Genealogy, no marriage and no kids. Y'all can't be trusted to work it in without time travel and Babyrealms, so you're done. 4. Yo, that castle-building mechanic in Fates was actually really fun tho??? 5. Make it gayer. 6. I liked how magic cost HP instead of requiring an equipped weapon in Echoes. I'm weird, tho. 7. More human and believable characters, both heroes and villains. Y'all STILL haven't topped FE7's cast! 8. Tactical decision-making and diplomacy in-between or before battles. Gimmie summa dem PC strategy game elements. Love that shit. 9. More complex morality, and full dramatic exploration of what happens when the hero is wrong. 10. Casual mode and the Turnwheel can stay, because I am a pathetic baby who has trouble beating FE titles that aren't Birthright and Awakening.

Seeing as everyone in the comments has covered most of the points I want, I'll just say what I extremely want. Interesting maps and character limits. If anyone remembers the end game of Radiant Dawn, you had to split the entire party into three groups (honestly, Radiant Dawn's separate party system was pretty cool even if it had its flaws.), prologue of Path of Radiance (first few chapters), you could only use certain members in each chapter, Gaiden/Echoes Alm and Celica's routes. Things like this was so interesting to me and I wished they integrated it again.

I like all of these ideas. Regarding the story, I'd like to see another commoner protagonist like Ike. Princes and lords are cool and all-hell, some of my favorite characters in the franchise are among them. Lord Hector, Lady Lyn, King Tibarn, King Naesala, Zelgius Earl of Kadohl... But Ike being a commoner was a refreshing change of pace. It made him more relatable, more like one of us.

WRT Online play, what if they could have co-op maps where you and someone else could basically have halved army size. And it would be like having an allied/green army with you, except player controlled. Or maybe, to add onto this, they could do a FE8 style thing where you choose your lord you want to play as, and they each get their own units. And those co-op maps could be missions where they meet up at times. You could still do this as a single player experience, obviously, but the option for co-op would be there

The thing with full voice acting is if they include an avatar unit how will they say your name..? Unless the avatar won’t have a customizable name but will still be customizable facial wise would be cool, or they could still have voice acting but will be silent when your name comes up in the dialogue, although that may feel a bit hollow at times, for example: “What would you do, (insert name here)..?

555redkid I've played many games with voice acted cutscenes and an avatar with customizable names, such as Dragon Quest VIII and Final Fantasy X. They always use some sort of generic title whenever they mention you (in Dragon Quest VIII they always called you 'hero' and in FFX they refer to you as 'Guardian'). Of course those games don't have voice acting outside of cutscenes so if you talked to someone your name might be spelt out in the dialogue, but that is usually how I've seen it done.

The number one thing I want for FE Switch is the return of different map objectives (and brand new ones never seen in the FE series!), along with alternate objectives (like "Kill the Boss OR Escape" kind of thing, or the Path of Radiance prison map where you can win by stealth or a brutal all-out fight).

What I want: 1. Good story like echoes (like Whimsy said in his comment) 2. Balanced Classes (I'm sick of fighters getting shafted while wyvern riders and cavaliers are op) 3. More moderate stat growths, like in the gba or gc games, the high stats in Fates kind of broke the game. 4. Good Map design/ Enemy placement (Plenty of chokepoints and evasion boosting tiles) 5. Either no Avatar, or a non-plot centric one (Like in Bewear's post) 6. Improve defensive options/Balance the game around Classic mode (I have no problem with casual mode, but I found that Awakening and especially Fates really promote an aggressive playstyle which works on casual, but falls apart when perma-death is added. 7. Balance the skill system (Seriously, some of them just break the game while others serve no purpose.) 8. Limit Class changing (Again, breaks the game balance) So really, just a good story and a balanced game. I'm looking at you Fates! Echoes gets a pass because it has a good story and is a remake of a 26 year old game that was horribly broken. They did the best they could.

I feel like player choice should also extend towards recruitment, sort of like the you can recruit one but not the other archetype (Like Karel and Harken). Suppose at the beginning of FE switch there are two rival mercenary bands and you can't hire both, but you need to fight the enemy forces. Both mercenary bands have a handful of different characters that cater towards a character's play style, and you pick one to start off the game.

a more perfected or balanced version of the mila turnwheels from echoes. I think it can do wonders to alleviate a lot of the unnessary frustration that comes from fire emblem. Also in addition to the magic trinity incorporate color trinity from heroes/fates? So knives/hidden weapons>magic(generally)>bows. (magic being in the radiant dawn style fully fleshed out bi-triangle) A little complicate but for a console FE if given enough time to establish to new-comers the layers involved, it could be a great way to add depth.

While I think multiple player choices is a good idea and one I've also wanted, there is a problem to it. Options to wage war differently may affect one's character. An aggressive lord and more cautious lord will approach the battle differently and if you give the player the choice, it won't necessarily be consistent with the characterization of the lord. IMO, ledges and authority stars should return. Speaking of authority stars, each unit in the army should have characters who are subordinate/loyal to them which benefit from the authority stars. For example, Lyn would enhance Kent, Sain, Will and Rath. Ike would enhance the Greil Mercenaries. Micaiah would enhance the Dawn Brigade, etc. Skills should return but nothing OP like the 3rd tier mastery skills. Instead, remove them and give the player the ability to increase the number of skills they can add for different combinations. Finally, different magic types should be effective/ineffective against the different terrain types. For example, if you hide in a forest, a fire mage will be effective. If you are in the water, lightning will be effective. On the other hand, if you are in water, fire will be less effective. By effective, I don't necessarily mean effective damage but an increase in damage/hit rate. To make this work better, more terrain types will have to be introduced which improve the map design and strategical aspects of the game.

It certainly isn't impossible to be consistent with the characterization though it can be difficult to pull off. For example in Radiant Dawn (SPOILER ALERT), Micaiah is given three options in regards what to do with Pelleas, I think all three options make sense from the perspective of her character. Her choosing to attempt to sacrifice herself makes sense because she puts her life on the line in part one. Her choosing to kill Pelleas makes sense as well because she's forced to make tough moral decisions in part 3. Her letting Tauroneo do the job also makes sense as she was going to let the Apostle take Jarod's life instead of doing it herself. IYO, do you think FE should have an unlockable bad ending if you make poor decisions? Only available on a second playthrough though because getting a bad ending on the first playthrough will be confusing and a slap in the face for most people.

I kind of feel like the magic triangle is pointless. While I do like the idea of the types of magic being different in some way, having a separate effectiveness triangle for just magic felt clunky. Mages tend to have high resistance and low defense, so you would typically want to attack them with physical damage anyway. Mages are also most effective against 1-range units with low resistance, so in both of those cases, the magic triangle wouldn't even come into play. I was thinking it would be cool if they did something like fire emblem heroes and combine the magic with the weapon triangle and have mages locked to one or two spell types.

I'd love if we got a co-op mode that used each player's own unit, but not duplicating units. For example: In Awakening only 1 player would be able to use Frederick with player 1 picking which unit to take in their team first. After, player 2 gets to pick and chooses let's say Donnel, now player 1 can't pick Donnel. It'd add more reason to level up more of your characters. I think what I would find the most fun is a mode where you and your teammate split units, and have an apotheosis style map where it's a large map, a lot of tough enemies, and it requires actual strategy to succeed.

The idea of long, varied class changing options is #1 or 2 for me. Sacred Stones would be the basis of this. Echoes did it okay, but the fact that Mercenaries could class change infinitely but pegasus knights could only class change once was really weird to me. A lot of villager types that have many options of class changing 3-4 times to obtain different skills before reaching a final class would be great. Then, if you replay the game, you can change up the classes used along the way for different skill sets. I would also hope for a fun forging system like in Echoes, maybe just more expansive.

The voice acting in Echoes was probably the best from any game I’ve played to date. It really gave me a better connection to the characters and made them feel more alive that other games. If the switch were to have a “build able” avatar it would be harder to get a voice actor for every setting but I could be done. The battle animations of echoes was also fantastic and really made the battle flow. I feel like remaking a fire emblem like Thracia 776 or Genealogy of the Holy War, two games that weren’t officially released o the West, would be great starts for another fully voice acted game and would give the characters in those stories much more needed character.

The DLC for echoes eventually made me sell my limited edition of it. I really want the next FE to make me feel like Path of Radiance did. I loved that characters promote with xp and not with promotion items, I loved the variety of objectives, loved the cast of characters, loved the game length and loved the difficulty. Completed it on normal difficulty and after many struggles beat it on the harder difficulty

Things I'd find interesting/things I'd want in FE: Switch: -Subquests in maps. Things that you don't have to do but you can do anyway for different merits like being able to recruit a unit, getting gold and some EXP for units. -Different recruitment methods. Be it bribing, kidnapping like in Thracia or threatening units. It'd be nice to have more ways to recruit units. Hell, maybe IS could take Joshua's recruitment from FE8 and actually make it luck-based instead of Joshua cheating it if they feel evil enough. -Non-dragon final boss. If not, then put more ways to kill or damage the final boss other than attack this or that. -Better boss battles backed by story and gameplay elements. Basically make another boss/antagonist like the Black Knight and spice it up with some mechanics. I'd like a few bosses that aren't introduced in the same chapter you fight them in, makes them feel like just another extra strong enemy unit for that chapter. Plus make them really powerful, maybe just strong enough to be a proper match for your main lord. -Bring back the weapon durability system or have a better way of implementing unbreakable weapons. -It'd be nice if they make a deep and complex main lord for the game. I'd appreciate it if they make the main lord his/her own character and have the avatar just be a side-character type of person. -Speaking of main lords, it'd be cool to alternate between main characters depending on route choices and such.

I love your idea of player choices that make a difference in how the game unfolds! I wish they would enact that style of choices! I liked the idea of the xenologue chapters from FE7 too, completing certain level requirements to gain extra chapters, but I really liked the open map from FE Echoes. I have to admit that my absolute favorite addition that Echoes brought to the table was the dungeon exploration! I REALLY REALLY hope that they can encorporate that exploration system again! Echoes had such absolutely great polish, it's definitely a new standard that I hope they continue to put out! ALSO, MILAS TURN WHEEL WAS AN AMAZING FEATURE!!! It wasn't game breaking and gave the ability to explore different strategies without absolutely having to restart a map, I fell in love with that game mechanic!

what I would want to see is at the start of the game it establishes that two kingdoms are at war, and that the good kingdom your apart of is loosing. how I would like to see it go down is that the lord who has been leading the defense is being overwhelmed, realizing that their is no way out he sends his retainer (enter jagen archtype) to take his younger sister and flee, giving the sister the legendary sword that's been passed down the family for generations (because their is always one) the army stays with the older brother and gets decimated (this is the prologue where you fight against the older brother but the battle is deisgned to be lost) Chapter 1 starts with the princess and jagen running away from a small detachment that chased after her, where they run into your avatars villiage, their the princess conscripts you into battle that the jagen enforces. However this is where your MC shows tactical aptitude warning Jagen about the layout, (forest area where you can set up defensive postions, a bog area that can be used to slow down incoming enemies but would severly limit Jagen movement with his armor, or the open field that the jagen character can utilize his mobility to mop up the enemy(this is working off of the videos suggestion of actually changing the maps you play on based off of the taciticans decisions)) Jagen realzing that you have the better understanding of the land gives you leadership After the battle its revealed that the enemy figuring out the town you came from burned down the villiage while you were fending off the enemy attacking the princess Chapter 2 involves trying to rescue as many citizens as possible from the burning town (this also leads to recruiting allies) by killing mages with fire spells after saving the villagers but loosing the town you join up with the princess and help her fight Now the big thing I want to point out is that the princess is very flawed, she is used to being pampered, never expected to be thrust into a leadership role, and just frankly has no idea how to even run an army, this ineptitude leads her to be unable to use the legendary sword Now I would like it to be where you can reveal to the jagen why your sticking around with the princess Either you can't stand by and let the evil kingdom destroy your home Revenge or be a bit snarky and say "wait I can leave after being conscripted" now how to implement the children mechanics, basically pull a geneology of the holy war, make it so that the war eventually leads to a standstill where the two kingdoms come to an armistice but each are in reality just recuperating for the next war or hell go full blown holy war and have your army be defeated and pick up 16 yrs later following the children This would subvert a lot of the common tropes First a female lord who is the central character, that hasn't been done since Lyn I think Second the female lord is not originally exposed to be the chosen hero, originally the sword would respond to her brother, but as the story progresses and the character develops a bit then the sword will awaken for her (think of Falchion, when Lucina gave the sword to her sibling in their support if falchion did not find the weilder worthy it would be a dull blade in their hands) Third it emphasis that you are making actual tactical decisions as an MC not just following a script also it makes it so that your MC is not the focal point of the story you just kinda got hitched along for the ride and lastly it makes child characters not hamfisted into the story like fates

14:10 Reminds me of Tactics Ogre LUCT If you've never played Tactics Ogre LUCT, I recommend playing it on the PPSSPP emulator so that you can take advantage of save states and play on a bigger screen. Your choices throughout that game can have a significant impact on the story progression. Something as simple as wounding instead of killing a named opponent can factor into which story path you end up on. Law and Chaos are not equivocable to good and evil either, the path of law is the path of oaths and duty while the path of chaos is the path of rebellion and can be the path of justice, you'll feel like the game is punishing you no matter what choices you make but it's not, each outcome is legitimate and it's worth reaching the end and replaying to see different paths unfold.

Just got into fire emblem not too long ago. Started from Smash admiration so I ended up getting Warriors lol that got me hooked then three houses, then all awakening, birthright with the dlc, and echoes with no regrets. I’m loving them it all so far. Funny seeing how many of your hopes became reality

As weird as this may seem, the feature I want to return most is the amiibo functionality. I personally don't mind if the new Fire Emblem follows new ideas or is heavily inspired by old ones as long as the game is fun and the characters are engaging. But that's also partly why I want the amiibo. There are a lot of characters in Fates that I didn't particularly care for, but the amiibo allowed me to call upon four old characters that I knew well and enjoyed using from previous games. They were all functioning units as well. They lacked support conversations unfortunately (but understandably), but they all had stats similar to both their stats from the games they came from and their appearances in Super Smash Bros. They all came with signature weapons and their own classes as well, even their voice actors from previous games! I thoroughly enjoyed being able to use these units. They felt very powerful but not overpowered, it made for a nice mix of old and new, and it gave me extra options in the event that I didn't care for some characters or they weren't up to snuff for the chapter I was about to attempt. Echoes nerfed the amiibo functionality so much that there was almost no good reason to ever use the feature, and to make matters worse it only summoned phantoms as opposed to the actual heroes. The only thing that the Echoes amiibo support did right was play battle themes from the characters' respective games as they fought. If future Fire Emblem games could incorporate amiibo functionality exactly as Fates did, while also adding unique battle themes and giving the characters supports (even if it's only with the main character), that would be absolutely amazing. Again, I realise it's probably weird to want that above anything else, but hell if I didn't love just decimating everybody with Ike and Ragnell, or watching Marth and Lucina dodge every attack that came at them before immediately proceeding to critical hit them.

I agree with your wish #1. I've always wanted fe game with a choice on what kind of maps are you going to do and what kind of allies join you. Basically like in The Witcher trilogy. There are many choices that affect who is going to be your main ally and what destination you are heading. It would also add a lot more replay value to the game.

In regards to choices actually having an effect on the story, FE6's branching chapter setup is definitely something I'd like to see return, especially if implemented alongside some FE7-esque gaiden chapters. That would make for an entry with an immense amount of replayability simply due to all of the possible ways the game can be tackled. If the game is more linear, then there can be even more replayability due to different skill builds, which can then have the chance to go even more in-depth if a generational time-skip, akin to the one in FE4 (definitely the best way for child characters to be implemented), is used.

The problem I have with the 3ds Fe games is that because their on a more graphically impressive system the creativity itself takes a huge toll. When someone is limited they use their creative minds to pass the limitations of a system

It's fun to watch a video like this nearly 6 years later when the publicity cycle and release of both the speculated game and the next mainline game after have already come to pass on the Switch. Contemplating how Three Houses and Engage matched up against these hopes and desires is very interesting.

One thing that I think would be neat that I haven't seen a lot of other people point out would be potentially stirring up the setting and changing part of the genre, Like a steampunk or cyberpunk version of fire emblem would be pretty neat. (Steampunk probably being the best fit because they'd have to come up with some contrived reason for everybody to not use guns and the like). Just something to break up the monotony of generic medieval fantasy.

Hmm, what would I like to see in a new FE... 1: An interesting lord, not a sword user. Maybe a mounted lord who uses magic and lances? 2: Pair-Up, the same way it was done in Fates. I found that to be quite a good mechanic. 3: Weapon durability, like pretty much every entry in the series. Although, it would be nice if legendary weapons didn't break. 4: Interesting map design, kinda like Fates: Conquest 5: Functionality with all FE Amiibo. Some people hate this sort of thing, but I think it's a cool idea. 6: S-ranked weapons 7: Repeatable side quests instead of grinding Risen/Monsters. Stuff like "defend this village from bandits for 15 turns" 8: Animations that are more akin to the ones in the GBA series. Going 3D puts a lot of strain on the system. Why have that, when you could have detailed 2D art instead? 9: A long story, something that will take a while to get through. Maybe 50+ chapters long. 10: Character deaths that have an impact on the story and final outcome of the game. And some things I don't want to see: 1: S-Supports. You can't use romance as a plot point if the player chooses who loves who. 2: Massive amounts of DLC. This whole DLC thing is getting out of hand, I feel. I'd prefer maybe 1-2 DLCs, each adding new side stories 3: The return of lockpicks. Don't even get me started on these, there's nothing worse than spending 4 turns heading to a chest, only to not have a lockpick. And a side note: It would be cool if there's an option to have a Japanese dub with English subtitles.

I don't know. It's hard not to be cliche about it. But a humanoid final boss probably. Maybe someone who was with you but betrays you at the very end once you've taken care of the actual enemy forces.

All i want from Fire Emblems for the switch is : - Open World RPG - Voice acting for all dialog options or at least add voice acting to major events - FOcus on the romance, thats Fire EMblems strongest point -Different endings and maybe add option to romance more than 1 character so can have a harem
