Honestly the aliens in "Signs" are some of the least prepared, poorly informed horror villains out there. They invaded a planet in which 75% of it's surface is covered by a liquid that is apparently hilariously corrosive to them. Oh, and that corrosive liquid also RAINS from above on a regular basis.

He expected that Finney would eventually lose hope and resign to the inevitable until Robin’s final call that gives Finney the courage he had inside and go after the Grabber. Plus the dead kids gave Finney the idea of how to craft the trap

I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but Ghostface is the most famous example of a totally unprepared horror villain(s). No matter who Ghostface is, there is not one single Scream movie in which the poor bastard does not break several bones and then die. I don't think more than a few of the victims throughout the entire Scream franchise were killed without first causing grievous bodily harm to the killer.

Regarding The Black Phone: It's implied both in the short story and in the movie that his brother is not usually in the house. He says "everything's different this time." His brother also says that he's only staying with him for a little while and usually lives and works somewhere else. Kidnapping and preparing to kill anyway also reveals a compulsion, something many serial killers have spoken about experiencing. Also many serial killers have led double lives for years without getting caught by people who knew them very well or maybe even lived with them, so that's not unbelievable either. The disturbing part about that is that it's almost too believable because it's happened a lot. We also don't know that his brother was there before he kidnapped Finney; he may have kidnapped him and then the next day, when The Grabber comes downstairs, is when the brother may have come over. That's also when he tells Finney "everything is different now". (I can't remember exactly what he says but it's one of those.) He also fell asleep on watch because he had been waiting for Finney to try to escape at that point for like three days and had been awake the entire time. Listing that as a fault of being unprepared shows that the writer of this article didn't watch the movie.

kind of agree. I do think the grabber was unprepared for Finny to fight back in the manner that he did (setting a trap in what appeared to be a bare room). he had already taken out a few kids that we saw to be tough and good fighters...finny was scrawny and meek in comparison so grabber likely didn't see him as a threat. the movie hinted that the brother had only recently moved in temporarily and was mostly coked up (and likely only came to the house to eat and sleep before going out again) so he wouldn't be too aware of the goings on around the house.

That was poor for those killers and the siblings not to do any background check on a girl they don't know well enough to just assume she wouldn't be any kinda problem. Granted most of the deplorables were easy pickings and Crystal was only there because of a case of mistaken identity, but the hunters should've been prepared for any one of their victims to have resourcefulness and survival skills.

Most likely, Prey's Predator is basically a school kid. The ones in the first AVP are also underprepared, because they're teenagers. They have to EARN the plasmacaster. This one is even unfamiliar with the speargun's workings, implying that it's not even ready for a proper Xenomorph hunt. It's given less advanced tech, because it's not proven itself worthy of more advanced tech.

I feel like Corey Cunningham would qualify for this list. Man actually thought he could steal the mask of one of the most dangerous killers in horror without consequences. Then he broke into Laurie's house, the woman who survived two encounters with Michael Myers, lived like a doomsday prepper for 40 years, and has been suspicious of him since he started dating her granddaughter. He not only thought he could take out Laurie Strode, but actually thought she would commit suicide after everything.

I feel like you don't give Finney enough credit lol people in the comments have said it better than I can but what I gathered from the movie was that the grabber thought finn would be easy prey and through the ghost kids, finn outsmarted the grabber and didn't give the man a chance to 'come back from the dead' as many killers do in horror movies when he, a preteen, brutally strangled him to death. Yes, the grabber was unprepared but not because of many things on his side (his brother could have come by after taking finn but also many people have lived with killers who had people in the basement and never knew for YEARS, the grabber fell asleep cause it was like day three of staying up all night waiting for finn to come upstairs, etc.), more because he didn't expect finn to be as brutal and smart as he was (plus the ghost boys). Anyway, would love everyone in the comments to comment their favourite thriller/horror/slasher movies where the killer/antagonist gets absolutely bodied by the protagonist. I wanna have a movie marathon and I like justice/revenge :)

I think Hush was a good movie overall, it had an interesting premise and was shot well, but I wish the killer kept his mask on. I understand the logic, she can't speak or call for help, so it doesn't matter if she sees his face, but to an audience it's a little unfortunate that the killer is just some dude instead of a masked assailant.

I would also like to add another entry. It involves another disabled girl. There is a Korean movie where a hedonistic serial killer goes about killing people. Not only is he sadistic, he is also smart. When he come across a simple deaf and mute girl, he thought it was easy picking for a girl with disabilities. It was a surprise how the girl managed to outfox the sadistic psychopath. Not only did she escape his murderous attempts on her life, but she also managed to bring the hubris in him as she put the end to his psychopathic killings. Edit: I know this movie is a thriller and drama, but I think it's worth mentioning. Edit: The movie name is Midnight.

There is a actual good answer to Purge as yo why they don't have the guns. Guns are expensive. And most Purgers are normally the lower class angry at the upper. Hence why Hawks character not only having a house with security measures but the aforementioned shotgun having the remington brand new add on "Chainsaw" handle.

Haven't most of the Purge films focused on the upper class slaughtering the lower class for fun? The whole film was because some rich kids were chasing a guy into an affluent neighborhood and Hawke's kid let him in the house defenses. Even then, the Purgers only found out because Hawke's neighbors were trying to get Hawke's family killed by telling the purgers where the guy was. Ethan Hawke's character had security measures because he was the guy who's job it was to sell security for people who wanted to survive the purge and had the money to afford high end defenses.

Another unprepared horror movie villain that hits suddenly, and ironically is Wish Master. I can't remember which part. But, right when it seems there's no hope of defeating a seemingly invincible djinn, the film's heroine simply wishes that the inebriated forklift driver responsible for releasing him a few days earlier accidentally, was sober. Simple yes, but logical, and effective.
