As a kid I would fall asleep to this noise since at the time AC's were built this way. As the years progressed AC's dont make these noises anymore and are extremely quiet, which actually bother me a ton, I cant believe people thought these kinds of AC's were "too noisy" and dont let some people fall asleep, this is the most soothing, most secure noise to my brain. hearing this tells me its bed time and the picture and feeling that come to my mind is a dark but very dimly lit room that is cold enough for you to bundle up under a blanket to keep you warm, but not too cold where your shoulders freeze up, just the right amount of cold where the warmth of your blanket is enough.

My Grandmama was my light growing up. She had an old lakehouse, and a window unit in all bedrooms. I remember they were big huge rooms with high ceilings. Her room was the biggest, at the front of the house. Every morning, I left the loft and crawled in bed with her and this sound is what was humming. Grandmamas arms around me and the big rectangled box pouring out freezing air. THAT was safety, and the best sleep ever. What I would give today to crawl in Grandmamas arms again. Thanks for this sound. My whole family sleeps to this. (Including the 8 week old lil boy that Grandmama didn't get to meet.) Thank you for the memories.

So it seems that many of us that prefer this video of the others is because of the soothing buzzing sound you hear coming from vibrating plastic or old compressor. Best sound for 2 reasons. It reminds me of summer time. Living in AZ having AC is a must and summer is full of ACs going off all night. I remember it being late at night and just listening to the AC and slowly drifting away into a calm sleep. The 2nd is it reminds of a motel AC, when you get there and it's all late at night so you just go straight to bed and you feel the freshness of the pillow and sheets, its dark and the blinds are closed but you get just a hint of light coming in on the edges from the parking lot lights and you let your mind relax and close your eyes.. only to wake up to a cold room but its a peaceful sensation

This is a good one, you can hear the metallic compressor sound. As a boy in the late 1960’s my parents travelled quite a bit during the summers in the desert southwest. We always stayed in motels. They all had window units put through the wall usually below a window. I would always take the bed nearest the air conditioner. I loved laying there with the icy air blowing over me. Also, everyone smoked back then so the a/c’s sucked in all that cigarette smoke. They took on a wonderful smell that no longer exists do to almost no one smoking these days. This wonderful sound first brings back happy memories, and then lulls me to sleep in a very short time. ❤

When I use to live with my great grandfather R.I.P when I was 19 he use to have one of these types of ac units in the room I use to sleep in...this was the around the time I was always playing on my Xbox 360 either playing gears of war 2 horde mode or yughio online and the couch that I use to sit on to play the game would be right in front of the AC unit... so all my friends on Xbox would always comment on how relaxing the sound was when I had my mic on.....I was known as the kid with the ac background sound 😂😂😂 I have so many great memories back then when I could just have a part time job and not have real bills and play the game all night long with my ac blasting cold refreshing air on a hot summer night but those days are long gone and the remembrance of this amazing sound is all that is left....thank you for giving me a little piece of nostalgia...GOD BLESS EVERYONE

As a child this 1 a/c cooled the entire house off.We made it through 105 degree days in Ga,miss the old days.My mom was alive and Dad was Healthier.I slept in the living room with my Sister.We loved each other back then and omg the house was comfy.Here we are mom is gone.Dad and sis stay with me in a 5 bedroom House,3 car garage,3 full baths.Central air conditioning and heat fire place in each bedroom.Multiple flat Screens throughout the house and a in ground pool.I’ve never been so miserable 😩 in my life.All we do is sit around and talk about each other,spread rumors.God help us!! One time many years ago our city was the hottest it had been in decades, nearly the heat of the Sahara. We’d been too poor to pay to fix our home AC so my parents set up a comforter and sheet on the ground in their room and we all sat next to the window AC to keep cool. That night was one of the most calming, and this exact sound out us to bed. Well, to sleep on the ground lol.

I remember moving into a mobile home community to finish the last couple years left of my middle school. We couldn't afford much else at the time, but we had this old general electric air condition with the knobs. It was all beiged out like an old computer, and it admitted the most comforting sound ever. I never slept soo nice to any other sound. The ac died shortly, and we got rid of it. I guess the comforting hum meant that it wouldn't last any longer. But we got another. But it was not the same.

The AC sound reminds me of being at a campground and there's a whole bunch of other trailers there. And you're walking toward where the arcades are and there's a little shack with an AC unit in its window, or maybe it's the sound of the pool pump. But yea, very relaxing sound, I've had it on all day, along with a 10 hours of Box Fan White Noise (Medium Speed) but I have the sound down really really low for the white box fan sound. So I'm getting two sounds. I'm more used to having the sound as it runs all day at work and I have a sound that I made from our home furnace when it runs, I recorded a 4 minute sound recording and looped it for 4 hours, but it's a good clean recording, so I usually play that through my bluetooth speaker. It's like I kind of need that hum now.
