I have 3 sportsters and I think they are great!!A 83 XLX,80 XLH Roadster and a 87 XLH 1200.I have been told many times to sell them all and buy a modern big block but I just carn't do it.I'm getting older and having to maintain them is alot of fun and keeps the ol brain ticking. They are different to ride,sound cool and give me a smile.

I think they’re great too, there is a lot of fun to be had with an older bike. The new bikes don't have the sound and are going away from chrome, and they are becoming rockets.

I bought a 2005 sportster 1200 custom XL a year ago and I am well pleased with this bike. Changed to Amsoil and it runs quieter and cooler . A real keeper. Plenty of power O.E.

I really liked my Sportster it was fun and sounded great, no engine sounded as good as a Harley and I was getting over 50 mpg.

I got a 2005 883 earlier this year. I absolutely love it, however, I want more power and torque

Those new Harleys look like they belong in those Judge Dredd movies. Not for me, I'm going for a nice 2009 sportster I've seen in a bike shop

I like cruisers myself and am a big evolution motor fan. I don’t ride over 80mph New England roads not very safe for high speeds.

Agreed the evolution motor and the $3995 when you buy and when you trade up got me looking at new Harleys. And definatly was a game changer for Harley-Davidson.

Used to have a 1957 XLCH. Now sorry I sold it, but at the time I was raising 4 sons and simply did not have the time or money for a scooter. One of the prime mechanics of the Brother Speed club of Boise rebuilt the engine when I first got the bike, but it needed a lot more work that I simply could not afford, at the time. Certainly miss that bike, but the damage it did to my knee with the slipping starter gears is now requiring me to replace my knee.

lots of inaccurate info here. I especially like in the 1971 sportster section you show an evo engined hardtail chopper.

Love the sportsters , but not (what I consider ) , the very ugly model 'S ' . Wish they would have named it something else .

I agree, and wish they kept an evolution engine somewhere in the new models.

Why 2010 xr1200? It was released in 2008.
@bobsfreeworld662010 ай бұрын
uropean-Only Debut (2008): The XR1200 was initially introduced for the overseas market (everywhere except the USA) in 2008. European riders were the lucky ones who got their hands on this sporty first. At that time, American riders could only watch from afar as the XR1200 made waves across the Atlantic. U.S. Release (2009 and 2010): Thankfully, in 2009 and 2010, the XR1200 became available for purchase in the United States. The first batch of 750 XR1200s sold in the U.S. came in a vibrant orange color and even included a signed number plate by racing legends Scott Parker and Kenny Coolbeth1.
