Can confirm backswimmer bites hurt a lot, little me found that one out after getting one out of a chlorinated pool and holding it for too long while it was distressed. Excellent video, you captured a lot of detail in your recording of these beautiful creatures :)

For years I have seen these little creatures in a vernal pool on my family's land and thanks to this video it seems likely now that they are a species of flatworm!

Thanks for the video, love the inofrmation and clear video of the little creatures. , i have created ponds in my garden to specifically to attract wildlife. My all time favourite is Dragonflies and have been lucky enough to watch and photograph several Nymphs transform into dragonflies, take their first flight, come back and land on my hand and fly off again.

Thanks and that sounds like some fab dragonfly encounters - sadly they dont seem to like my garden pond very much! (but I have loads of frogs so cant complain!)

Thanks, means a lot coming from you! Ive already commented somewhere on here about the story of how I came up with the name, was going to wander over to your channel and tell you but Ill do it here - long story short I didnt want to use the "Pond Man" as it sounds like a pond maintenance company! Then one day I randomly thought of Pond Lab, thought it sounded great and wondered how I hadnt thought of it before....then a few days later logged in and realised, like most my 'original' ideas, it was actually more than a bit inspired by someone elses - your excellent channel! Which i had been watching (read binging the videos) a few weeks before! doh!

Really looking forward to this series. I have 2 ponds in my garden, one of which has a good damsel and dragonfly clientele but apart from their larvae I am very ignorant regarding most of the other species. Good luck, Mike

I'm in. Thank you for the education into worlds less seen. Are you able to recommend a book on fresh water pond life for ID?
@PondLab7 ай бұрын
Best at the moment is Colins Freshwater Life, which is a nice overview, but there is a Wildguides book out next year by Nick Baker, which promises to be good. Though I'm biased as I'm supplying the images lol
