I think the worst one would be the Cloak of Invisibility in Wizards and Warriors for the NES. It turns your character completely invisible, so you cannot see it at all, which is a major problem in a platformer, but to add insult to injury the enemies can still perfectly see you.

Scroll of Icarian Flight would be my Elder Scrolls pick. Know your Mythology, it allows you to jump miles into the air but doesn't do anything for the fall damage you're going to get when you land.

LOL reminds me of a ring I found in Diablo Hellfire, "Ring of Darkness" was worth 0 gold and basically turned the screen black, all your light source vanished, meaning you couldn't see what was attacking you. However, this ring had an upside. If you were a Bow/crossbow user, you could equip the ring when you got to diablo and start firing in Diablo's general direction, he couldn't see you and perfect kill was easy lol. This ring as a sword user was a challenge n a half!

First of all, the magic armor in Twilight Princess doesn't use a magic meter because the game doesn't have a magic meter to begin with. Second of all, The armor using rupees isn't as much of a problem because it's easy enough to get the biggest wallet and fill it before you get the armor in the first place. Also, there just aren't enough tough enemies or bosses that will require it that running out of money permanently is a problem.

one that came to mind, Nemesis from Cave Story. the game teaches you about leveling up your guns by collecting energy fragments, eventually reaching level 3 and dishing out a lot of pain. but Nemesis works the opposite, making it so you want to keep it at level 1 to deal big damage with long range explosions. i forget what level 2 does, but at level 3, you end up shooting rubber duckies that deal no damage to speak of

The Boots of Blinding Speed are great if you do use resist. A 1 second resist 100% spell(or 50% if you're Breton, because they already have 50% passively) are easy to make and cast. The Cuirass of Saviour's Hide also gives 60% resist magicka. They do require a bit of maintenance, though, being Netch leather boots. Still, the most useful item in the game, IMO. Unless you are Khajiit or Argonian.

Worth mentioning in the GBA Fire Emblem games the Devil Axe has a second huge reward to using it. Most weapons grant only a couple Weapon EXP points each time they're used, the Devil Axe is the exception, giving around 6 times as much Weapon EXP in a single swing, bringing you closer to the ever important higher weapon ranks, giving you access to a Silver Axe faster if our boy Gonzales is able to stay alive using it

Trumbles in the C64 version of Elite. At a certain point in the game, you're offered the chance to buy what is supposedly the most valuable thing in the universe. It turns out to be a tribble-like creature that multiplies out of control, eating all the food in your cargo hold, obscuring your view, etc. They're also quite hard to get rid of.

1:15 I personally use devil gear on low leveled units to try and get some easier levels and roll the dice or far more often I use them for unnamed generic units to try and get some use out of otherwise easily ignored units

The notorious ''MO Disc'' from the 1998's Metal Gear Solid also deserves a mention. It may be common knowledge by now that it is useless, but back in psone days they were many players that were trolled, thinking that it existed for a reason, but walkthoughs revealed that aside from playing a small role in the story, it has really NO use in the entire playthrough (aside from wasting valuable space in your inventory for no reason - and you can't even get rid of it)!

'Scuse me while I go reinstall Grim Dawn. World of Warcraft had a number of Engineering items designed to make your character's life easier. Goblin engineer was "known to be questionable" in the safety department. I had a character killed twice by malfunctions. Some of the funniest stuff I'd ever seen in a game.

The Magic Armor is mostly good for taking on certain floors in the Cave of Ordeals... where the enemies only drop Rupees. I ended using it on the floors which paired Freezards with Chilfos (and sometimes throw in Ghoul Rats, because that's just not a tough enough combination by itself!), and on the final actual challenge floor, with three Darknuts. Yep, he got Dark Souls players while being completely truthful. No lies, no omissions, no double meanings. Just player expectations that everything must have a use, even if the description says otherwise.

one of the first I remember coming across is the Casey Bat from EarthBound. It's overall stats are pretty good, since it's technically Ness' 2nd best weapon ( his best, like everyone else's in the game, is a 1 in 128 chance drop )....but it only has a 25% chance to hit, so you'll miss more often than you'll hit anything with it

The Scroll of Icarian flight (Morrowind) idk how they could include Morrowind and not mention this one, you literally find it at the beginning of the game (usually) by walking and then hearing someone scream for their life and fall from the sky to their death, you loot his body to find the scrolls that make it to where when you jump you go to astronomical heights to which you will suffer the same fate unless your using cheats or you are good and lucky enough to land in water.

Let's go back to the 1980's! Faxanadu for the NES had an item near the end of the game that was an amulet meant to double your attack power. But because someone ballsed up the plus and minus signs, it instead HALVES your attack power. Not something you need just before the hardest fight of the game....!

On the other hand, want to know what the most useful single item in Morrowind probably is? Anything enchanted with a single point of slowfall. This is enough to prevent ALL fall damage. You can literally jump 100 miles into the sky and then land at full speed and take no damage. Combine with the scrolls of Icarian flight or some ridiculous Jump enchantment.

The cursed ring of transformation control from ES Skyrim. You learn about it from a prisoner that is a werewolf but never get the non-cursed version of it instead you get some hide armor for finishing the quest even though it teases that you will get the ring at the end.

Sorry, I don't remember the exact details but I think it was Yakuza 0, so... In all games of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series there is at least one optional very hard boss battle against someone from Amon family. In Yakuza 0 you have to fight 3 of them at once and one of them is armed with a machine pistol. Your reward for defeating Amon is usually a very powerful item, often a weapon. Well, in this case you are rewarded with a burning dagger, that deals a lot of damage plus setting your foes on fire, dealing constant fire damage. Sounds nice, right? Well, the dagger is burning, not just the blade, all of it is burning. This means, just equipping the thing will hurt you and your health bar goes down to zero in just a few seconds.

You find it on the body of a Bosmer wizard and it fortifies your acrobatics by a massive 1000 points allowing you to leap far into the skyline... ... only to realize the effect wears off before you hit the ground like a meteor from deep space.

Cursed armor and weapons in the Dragon Quest series. These are extremely powerful granting high defense or attack points. However, on occasions your character will freeze being unable to take a turn. They can only be removed with help from a priest, who will charge you. Once the item is removed it will no longer be in your inventory.

The Nemesis in Cave Story - at its bottom lwvel, it's incredibly powerful. Unlike the other weapons, as it levels up it gets weaker. At level 3, it just fires rubber ducks. You have to take damage to reduce its level again.

I actually really liked the Magical Armor on Twilight Princess, I beat the game with 3 hearts and wore it only when I needed to. Ruppees are easy enough to come by, and a few fairies was able to beat 3 hearts only pretty easily. I've always hated 'invisibility' on Doom, enemies seem to be more accurate instead, and playing CO-OP with family they won't notice and end up with friendly fire. Anytime I'd have it on, I'd yell "Don't shoot the invisible Pig."

What about the Casey Bat from Earthbound (Mother 2)?This weapon for your main character is the most powerful at +125 damage, and when it hits you'll usually get a critical SMAAAASH attack making it a real monster. Unfortunately it also has a 75% miss rate, meaning that 3 out of 4 times the only thing that you will be hitting is air, an issue of accuracy not shared by your enemies. Feels kinda trollish, doesn't it?

If I recall correctly the effect of the boots of blinding speed takes effect on equip so you just need a 100% resist magic spell that lasts for a couple of seconds while you equip the boots. I may be wrong.

If were talking souls, Bloodborne has a shield. It sounds useful, since there's only 1 in the entire game but it sucks. 100% Miyazaki troll on players. Keep in mind this was the first game that wasnt a "souls" so we got used to having shields as an option

The Plan B pistol in cyberpunk. If you go back to the area where dexter does you'll find his his gun: the plan b Depending on where in your night city your are level wise and money wise can mean your power fantasy or not. If your a low level V with major eddies you'll be grateful If your a low level V with only scraps worths of eddies it's horrid If your high level V with mass eddies galore your still jipped of power since y'know you probably found much better weapons. The reason why this gun is a major risk with little reward, it uses eddies as it's ammo However if you're that player who wants the in home gun rack filled it can be placed there.

sword coast legends has a hammer that each time you use it. it makes it harder for the enemies to hit you. Which is true. since it makes your character model smaller and smaller. so small you can be a pixel size and blend in with the ground!!!! you move that fast too, so not very LOL

Morrowind's Scroll of Icarian Flight is useful to speedrun the game but when you first come across and use it, you'll find yourself catapulted across the map and will instantly die. Experimenting with it will also almost always lead to your death. Only by knowing how to counteract fall damage will you be able to actually use it.

Wrong! There is NO magic meter in Twilight Princess Jess! There was going to be a Magic Meter in Twilight Princess but it was cut from the game! You are thinking of the Magic Armor from The Wind Waker which DOES have a Magic Meter! Plus, there is a very easy way to determine if the game has a Magic Meter. The only meter in Twilight Princess is the Oil Lamp Meter which has a Yellow Bar. What color is the bar in the Magic Meter? Green. Plus, there are Green Potions in the game but they are completely worthless. So you really need to do more research Jess because you are going to have a lot of angry Zelda fans calling you out for that stupid mistake.

In the case of the optical camo suit in Wildlands, how is it difficult to see where you are when invisible? Nomad is literally in a distorted slightly bright outline easy to spot when in the day and when using night vision. It also makes detection by snipers completely impossible, unless you're extremely up close, it activates after remaining still while either prone or crouched for ten seconds, you unlock it after completing Operation Silent Spade, and it only works with a certain patch, certain backpack, or the Future Soldier uniform.

You can counteract the blinding effect of the boot of blinding speed in morrowind by wearing enchanted armors with the resist magicka effect on them the higher the percentage of resistence the more you can see with 100% completely removing the effect.

One of my favorite from the NES era, Faxanadu has a pendant that cuts your attack power in half and once you get it you can't get rid of it. It was not intentional, just a coding error as it was supposed to double your attack power instead.
