Everytime I see lists like these I would love to see a spotify playlist with the recommended recordings of these things that don't stray too far from the original melodi and chords etc. Would join a patreon for that ;). Anyway - thanks for all the content.

Great list. I think All Blues is actually in 6/8, keeping the 12 bar form intact !

Two great Bb blues - 1. West Coast Blues by Montgomery 2. No. 1 Green Street by Green These two taught me a ton about Bb blues!

No. 1 Green Street is especially great for those new to jazz coming from a blues background

Thanks Brent. I love playing jazz blues. There's a few here I don't know well, so great to add them to my "must learn" list. :-)

Great list, Brent,. I really like these and know most. I need to learn Freight Trane. Others that I enjoy playing,. Miss Ann's Tempo, Solid, Things Ain't What They Used To Be, Doodlin' (Db), Tyrone, West Coast Blues, Footprints, Unit 7. Some that I want to learn.... Opus De Funk, The Kicker, Nostalgia On Times Square. As a guitar player, my list wouldn't be complete without Wes Montgomery's Sundown and The Thumb.😊

Hi Brent! Love your channel and your book!! Do you know or have some recommendations of blues standards that have some vocalise or a vocal Melody? As a guitar and a singer I have trouble finding vocal blues standards!

What about Wes Montgomery?
@richardsorice45092 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I love playing Sundown, The Thumb, Unit 7 and West Coast Blues.

Wes definitely deserved a mention. Not sure how common his tunes are at Jazz jam sessions as most of the other compositions aren't actually guitar compositions. Wes' compositions are mostly played by guitarists. I like West Coast Blues, Fried Pies, D Natural Blues.

Being a guitar player, I have Always gravitated towards Kenny Burrell for examples. Please include some KB in a minor bebop lesson.
