Artificial Intelligence is growing exponentially, not only in the technical sense, but also in the public eye. The reason for this is simple, AI is taking over more and more jobs worldwide in a rapid pace. From manufacturing to a whole list of classic office jobs, like accounting and even software development.
And a little bit over one year ago we were introduced to ChatGPT generating text, then photorealistic image generation with Midjourney and Dall-E and the upcoming Sora video generative AI will shake up another creative industry. In this video, we will list the 10 jobs AI will replace soon! Is your job on this list?

It is strongly advisable to use authorized human know-how to build AI solutions, including data, and to verify if AI created outcome is in line with the goals that have been set. So using AI as a supportive element to reach the goals set by authorized humans is totally fine as it increases productivity. However, the last step as to trust AI in executing the build and verification processes itself, which technically could also be achieved, can lead to unexpected results and chaos ... Something all humans should be aware of and stay alert for to avoid AI puts us humans and our whole environment on earth into danger ! In other words, authorized humans better ensure they stay in control of AI driven machines.

The risk of losing control is an issue that has been warned about for a long time already, in an open letter signed by Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk among others. Even recently with another open letter, signed by (again) Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak and Yuval Noah Harari et cetera. Our human arrogance causes us to think we can simply 'pull the plug' from a machine that goes rogue. But what will happen if a machine is X times smarter than us? Don't you think it will find ways to survive and / or meets its goals? For example, apparently ChatGPT 3.5's equivalent IQ is 155. Einstein's was 160. Just let that sink in for a minute. ChatGPT4 is 10x version 3.5. So, in theory that would equal an IQ of 1550? (Source: Mo Gawdat's interview at Stephen Bartlett's podcast Diary of a CEO) Yes, AI can make our lives easier, safer, more efficient and a whole list of other things. They already do, don't they? But what if we 'forget' to program failsafes into the system? There are known examples where an engineer made a silly calculation mistake, which created a domino effect further down the line. The result? Pillars that are not strong enough to hold a bridge weighing tonnes.. Mistakes WILL happen. I could continue, but in my opinion AI development potentially poses an enormous threat to humanity. Currently, we are in the denial phase...

we don't need to compete with machines as your last question suggests , we need to embrace the change , and see the light in all the benefits it can give to us , like automate tasks we don't want to do ! , anymore ...

Definitely agree Yannick we need to embrace the change, but these changes like job automation are just the tip of the iceberg. It definitely gives us a lot of benefits...until it doesn't. Don't forget AI development (worldwide) is an arms race...

My automatic reaction was to like your comment, but then I didn't. Appreciate your effort though ;) But yes...I think we are doomed. I am afraid humanity is in the denial stage right now. AI is coming at us, FAST. In an interview with Mo Gawdat, he mentioned that ChatGPT 3.5 has an equivalent IQ of 155. Einstein's was 160. Let that sink in for a moment. ChatGPT 4 is 10 times more intelligent than the previous version....And they will roll out ChatGPT 5 very soon...AI's progress is exponential. Mo Gawdat's book Scary Smart - which I'm currently reading - is highly recommended if you want to know more about the dangers of AI.

Hmm, I'm a graphical designer and everything I leaner in 3 years, I can now get done in 3 mins with AI... Not better, but easier. I'm not sure what to think of this :D I guess I can always read more about graphics and ai behaviour or prompts to be an AI "artist", but it simply doesnt feel good.. It's easy and non rewarding. It's what the corpos want! Not what I want :E -- Yet ai isn't that bad imo, it's a tool. Learn to use it, or learn to diverse from it.

Wow. I can imagine generative AI like Midjourney must be really 'weird' for you, as graphic design is your profession. And actually experiencing how (fast) it can create. And you are absolutely right about it being non-rewarding...I guess it's similar to a lot of things we are currently used to: Google maps vs. map reading (memorizing!), getting a movie at a video rental vs. opening Netflix, booking a holiday trip at a travel agency vs. booking.com etc etc. We don't think about these things unless it concerns US and OUR livelihood. But I also think it's very smart to learn to work with it, instead of against is - because you/we can't stop this coming tsunami of automation. I am myself a freelance photographer - so I'm kinda in a similar situation - and I am already seeing some shifts because of Midjourney etc, not so much that I feel threatened, yet. Taking into consideration I maybe will in the near future, I started this very channel...

If we dont want to get doomed We have to practice AI ethics and impose them strictly . I thik that's the only way !

I completely agree Avinash...But it seems governments are not listening to the likes of Elon Musk, Mo Gawdat etc...
