I am wheelchair bound, so I do need some automatic looking after, but since I am pleasant and kind to the flight attendents, they are very good to me. They will even come and check to see if I need to use the facilities in flight and help me down the aisle if I do.(Usually I try to go before we take off.) The flight attendents will often just come up and hang out and visit with me and do things to amuse me. It's very nice. Especially Delta. Delta's the best.

My mother was a flight attendant for quite some time, in fact, my dad is a Captain, and that's how they met. According to her, if they're not busy (though, they usually are), flight attendants generally appreciate a bit of small talk, such as showing gratitude and appreciation for their hard work, asking how their days are going, travel destinations, etcetera. Just being friendly and outgoing, following instructions, and basic human interaction skills goes a long way according to her. She was an FA for about 12 years before she had me. Both worked and my dad still works for American Airlines. Just a little tip to make traveling more pleasurable for all parties! :)

Look, if you are so overweight you can't fit into one seat, that's on you. If you label it fat shaming then you're apart fo the problem. I'm considered overweight on the BMI scale (though I don't necessarily believe it's accurate as it doesn't measure muscle mass or take genetics and body shape into consideration). I'm 5'4 and 200 lbs myself and fit fine in airplane seats, considering my hip size thats not all that bad either. The layout of the planes are designed that way to get as many people as they can into it. So yes, if you do not fit into one seat, no matter what the reason, you should have to pay for the second seat. No one is born fat. It's something that happens depending on your diet and activity. If you wanna go and whine about it, I'd suggest you use that enegry on bettering your health.

That's an excellent way of putting it. SOUTHWEST seems to be pretty proactive about this issue. They charge folks who can't fit in one seat 1/2 price for a second seat. If the customer refuses, they put them on the plane while its empty, ask the passenger to sit in a seat and if the armrest can't be lowered because of their girth, they are made to pay for the second seat or they are denied travel.

Basically this is just a list of people that no one on earth likes in the first place. As a former flight attendant, here is a more appropriate list of people flight attendants actually hate: - Drunk people - People who think they are more entitled to anything on the plane than anyone else - People who carry bags onto the plane that are two heavy for them to pick up, and they expect us to pick them up for them. - Passengers who think the rules don't apply to them. - People who have no sense of time or situation. - Passengers who think they are the only one who is affected by whatever problem everyone on the plane is dealing with, like weather delays. - People who think they know more about air travel than the air crew. You don't. Just stop.

LucaT007 There was a proposal a while ago that asked for a single row of seats on each plane to be made into "disability" seating which would have seats twice the regular size. A row of seats 10 across could now seat 5. You would have to pay a small premium (15%) and prove you required the seat. But would be alot cheaper than buying 2 seats. Its target was to accommodate larger people, those with wheelchairs, and those with service animals. Unfortunately I never heard about any airline implementing it.

It depends on what you do when you "stay at home" - if you are going grocery shopping, dropping off and picking multiple kids off, cooking dinner every night, keeping the house spotlessly clean, etc. it is more work than a full-time 40 hr/week job. "Stay at home" mom doesn't mean you sit around and watch TV for half the day. It means you get your errands done while the kids are in school, then cook dinner and help kids with homework when they are home from school.
@mylittlegator7 жыл бұрын
At least when I was a stay at home mom I had the luxury of just worrying about the home, kids and meals. As a working mom I get to be responsible for all those things and work a 40 hr work week. As I've said, I have the perspective of both sides and am perfectly capable of deciding who has it harder.
@somebodypiano61917 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. Work + kids is definitely more work, but usually when a family is in a stay-at-home + working parent setup, one parent does majority of the housework, errands, childcare, etc. and the other parent focuses on their career/job. In that case, being a stay-at-home mom/dad can be harder than a full-time job, especially if the full-time job does not demand a lot of physical labor. As a stay-at-home mom, you are on your feet for many hours of the day, some of them cleaning, some of them grocery shopping and running errands, and others cooking. After all this work, you are exhausted by the end of the day.

That's true but bulk comes into it as well. There is also limited space inside the cabin. If a large person weighs as much as one and a half normal people (just as an example) then it is more bulk than weight that is counted. They take up two seats but still weigh less then 2 average sized people. In this situation then the airline has sold 2 seats but is using less fuel because there is half a person less weight in the plane.

Um, I think it is totally fair that if you need two seat, you buy two seats.
@yywaters6 жыл бұрын
It's pretty controversial, seeing that some people have a harder time controlling their size. But on the other hand, them taking 1 extra seat is 1 extra passenger who didn't get to fly
@mitsukiahatake61436 жыл бұрын
But if a fat person is taking their seat and part of mine (almost half) that’s not fair. I paid for my seat therefor it’s mine. Doesn’t matter if they can control it or not if they need two seats pay for two don’t take up a seat someone else paid for (that happened to me)
@Vladimir-wh5hs6 жыл бұрын
Jesus is Lord, if they cant afford the seats then they shouldn't fly should they. if I take up 1 seat but I cant afford 1 seat I dont get to fly therefore , if I take up 2 seats and I cant afford 2 seats I shouldn't get to fly.

Jesus is Lord, they can control their weight they just need to eat less and healthier and exercise, they could pick just one and still lose some weight. if they have a bad metabolism then do more exercise and they'll lose weight.

The lavatory situation can be helped by timely announcements. Nowadays it's pretty common to put "last call" on the screen when in reality the gate isn't even open. If they make people wait in line for more than an hour, they will get some queuing up in front of the bathroom.

I think if airlines are going to accommodate fat people, that they should also accommodate skinny people as well. I'm so skinny that I take up barely half of the seat. So technically speaking I should only be paying for half of it. It's only fair.
@drewdavis35657 жыл бұрын
MizuKageG exactly. But I'm kinda overweight for my age (I'm 13) and that's why I try to exercise / eat less before going on a plane🤕

A very good thought, though on planes it's more of the weight, not volume that matters. Except somebody is taking up your seat ofc... My solution would be weighting the passengers when checking for weapons, and each paying for the weight they add. A vast price can be given, such as 500$/€/£ per 50kg.

@glennrishton56796 жыл бұрын
I have seen them plenty and they werent all male often this was a group going to or returning from a vacation spot. Hit the airport bar for a while before the flight then would stand in the aisle for the duration of the flight. This was not too unusual 20-30 years ago, not so much anymore.

So to recap: Never use the bathroom on your 14 hour flight, never bring your children anywhere even if they're of college age, never accidentally bump into a flight attendant, never EVER be overweight and for the love of god, whatever you do... If you're a stay at home Dad and your working Wife wants to treat you with a first class seat on your family vacation TURN IT DOWN!!! The stewardess hates that shit!!!

But the last time I was on a plane to Argentina/Buenos Aires from Huston/Texas, this 80 yr old guy was kicking my chair, shaking it and putting his feet where mine when.... at first I thought it was his self conscious when he was sleeping but then in the morning I looked back when it started again and he was wide awake 🙄🤬😭😵

Sexy lady what you are saying is being a KAREN. Flight attendants have more power than what you think, they can make the flight turn around with just a request to the pilot.

Sexy lady you think passengers of an airplane are rich, they can’t sometimes even afford the business class ticket let alone first class.

Sexy lady flight attendants are professionals, the salaries of FA’s are 30k per month even on their first month of the job and can go even more 50k per month and have more benefits compared to what you are thinking.

First class dads???? How about the wife who bought a last minute flight for her and the kids. She was told they had to sit apart. She puts her flicking kid in your seat and refuses to move him. Police tell her to put the kid in his seat and sit down and shut up. I go to the bathroom and come back to the little fifer in my seat again. This time we are in the air. She goes up front to talk to flight crew. The kid is told by me to get back to his seat and he does. Ok, here comes the red wine to her seat while she is up. Or the wife who will not take no to not getting upgraded. My company bought me a very expensive first class seat in advance. I was checked in but not boarded. When I tried to she snatched my ticket out of my hand and said I agreed to sit in coach. NOT!
