Award winning artist Ginger Cook...
is recognized for her exceptional balance of color and light. She intertwines the bold strokes of thick impasto with softly layered translucent washes. The use of natural stucco and the combination of multiple layers of different media present the viewer with a three dimensional work. The Ginger Cook style of painting is both fresh and innovative.
She delights the viewers with her for unique painting style and mastery of color and is held in high esteem by many major manufactures of fine art acrylic paint in the world.
In 1997, she received 4-winning first place awards and the overall Grand Prize win of Liquitex “Paint a Difference Competition", an open call to acrylic artist across the world to submit artwork that represented the best of Acrylic Painting. Liquitex subsequently featured her as a Master Acrylic Artist, with a show of her paintings at the National Academy of Design in New York City.
Utrecht acrylics paid her the complement of a full page ad featuring their paint and her artwork in Artist Magazine the following year.
2007 Chroma Online Acrylic Paint of Australia have asked her to test then newest product and subsequently represent it to various art groups and university students in her Southwest Region of the United States.
She currently demonstrates Matisse Paints for this major Australian Paint company through Jerry’s Artarama stores in the Houston area along her many fans on KZbin and her Online Academy of Fine Art and Acrylic Painting located at GingerCookLive...
When you are ready to take your acrylic painting to the next level…consider getting Personal Art Coaching from Ginger Cook and join the Merry Band of Artists on GingerCookLive.gallery. Thanks for a wonderful tutorial Ginger. Especially having a central focus and darks and lights. I took a photograph the other day at our beach near where we live with a cargo tanker moving past in the horizon, however it was central in the uploaded photo so I could move the tanker either left or right when I paint the scene. I learn so much with your tutorials and appreciate your time. A big thank you again Ginger.

Hi Ginger! I’m watching this video tonight after watching the Monet trees with the red under painting. You’re now on the example using one of Salvador Dali’s painting. WOULD YOU PLEASE DO A SALVADOR DALI-type painting tutorial ? I say type because I know he hasn’t been dead long enough to copy an exact painting. I LOVE Dali!! He’s so fascinating. I went to the Dali museum in Tampa FL and it was FANTASTIC. I learned a lot about him during a particular period in my life because I became enamored with his work. I was so lucky to get to get to see so many of his originals there. He’s not my favorite artist but he is very unique. I know he’s not popular with many folks, but did you know he’s thee most forged painter ever? Thanks.

Thanks Mona. You should have seen Jon and My ex installing and getting the refrigerators to switch. They had to take the doors of of both. (lots of different opinions on how that should be done. Finally Jon just did it.) Then how to hook up the ice maker. It took about 2 more hours after the show last night. The front door to the house had to come off for them to get it in and the other out.....But all food transferred and old stuff thrown out that had expired.... Super... AC man is supposed to come today...but it got cold last night, and will be cooler for a day before it gets hot again. In Texas we get cold air coming down from Canada in Winter and Spring. Artsy Hugs from Houston.

Oh Ginger, I was in hysterics about the fridge story. A similar thing happened to us. our fridge broke down just before we moved her a few months ago, so we went to the shop to buy a new Fridge. We were thrilled to get a french-door fridge which had been on display, so it was cheaper, and when we got it home, we couldn't get it through the door off the kitchen where it was supposed to go. We ended up taking the whole doorway out and making it an alcove. LOL

Also, Frida Kahlo would be a great female painter to create a painting stylized like her since she hasn’t been dead long enough. She had a very interesting life, tied in with politics and painted under conditions of great physical duress, which I suspect most don’t know the extent to which she went to paint while pushing through so much pain and physical limitations.

Do the masters know about the lightest light to the darkest dark, or do they do it naturally?

Well they knew because they all went to art school or trained for years under a master. You can go back to the 1500s and Velazquez or even Michelangelo and they all knew this stuff
