My teacher is... well... I’ll let my complaints speak. For the current piece: 1. Plays too fast before we even learned the piece 2. Jumps in without practice so we constantly sound a mess 3. Made the 3rd and 4th violins switch to 2nd and 3rd parts 6 WEEKS after we started learning the previous violin parts 4. Didn’t even slow down the tempo to give us time to learn our new parts 5. Rarely plays with the rest of the orchestra, only firsts 6. Neglects our poor viola 7. Separates parts by skill. Obviously firsts have harder parts so they need to be more skilled, but the people who aren’t particularly good at their instruments are all put together so we can’t learn from each other and that part gets drowned out. At least put one skilled person in every part😭

Okay I genuinely greatly disliked classical music for the longest time. I just thought it didn't have as much soul or emotion as jazz, it sounded 'strict' if that makes any sense. But after 1 week of discovering and binge watching twoset, it's definitely growing on me. I can confidently say, I would love to go see an orchestra live some day :)
@andrewbarrett15374 жыл бұрын
There's tons of emotion, but IMO it might be more noticeable in the old-school classical recordings of, say, Fritz Kreisler :)
@andrewbarrett15374 жыл бұрын
Sometime in the 1940s-1970s(????) classical playing changed and musicians' whole approaches seem to have changed vs the old recordings of the late romantics. However, romanticism has made somewhat of a comeback (starting in the 1980s?) and so there are probably more classical musicians playing somewhat like the musicians of 100 years ago, today, active, than there were say in the 1970s. Actually, they should do a video about this :)
@gianellab.49534 жыл бұрын
Maybe it was the type of classical music you listened too? For instance, I realized very young that the more contemporary type of classical music is just not for me. I don't know the terms well (my violonist friend told me but I forgot haha), but that kind of classical music can be more experimental and less melodious or pleasing to the ears. What you say makes sense to me, though. I have always felt that not all classical pieces hit emotionally (or at least, not to the same degree). Part of it is the performing for sure, as Andrew said, but I also think part of it may be the composition.

But it was hypnotic and beautifully curved. Eddy was expressive while Brett was more refined. Interesting. I'm a violinist and my daughter has a degree in traditional animation. I don't think she's ever noticed my bow stroke. I'll have to ask her lol. As far as being expressive or refined, in some ways, it matters what type of music you're playing (Baroque as opposed to Romantic, etc.) or if it's the melody or harmony, which can often be the 1st or 2nd violin part.

Have you watched that orchestra episode of Tom and Jerry. I thought the animation of the synchronized bowing was mesmerizing, even tho it's probably simple or generic to an animator's perspective (maybe? I'm not an animator, so...) Watching this really reminded me how much I miss going to concerts and being able to see the musicians perform. It really adds to the experience if you're able to see how they feel the music and how it, quite literally, moves them. Honestly I could watch Brett and Eddy perform like this for hours on end. They don't just play the music, they feel it, live it and let it become part of them. Really fascinating and beautiful to watch.

This is fantastic, and I love the risk they take of being entirely exposed with one each on violin I and II... But I would really love to see them attempt some of the viola parts to those pieces, or other common viola audition excerpts... Don Juan is tough enough on a violin, try playing it on a 17+" viola. Good luck lol.

@TwoSetViolin Hey Brett and Eddy, I'm a Hornist at Juilliard Pre-college in grade 10. I immediately recognized the Shosty 5 as we performed it as our unspoken golden piece during our concert last year. Have you guys ever considered trying to come down to Juilliard in NY? I think it'd be awesome for you guys to come visit, not only because of your talent, but to show young musicians like myself how to bring classical music to social media. Anyways, I love your guys' channel and It'd be awesome to see you guys on the campus at some point in the future! Keep up the good work :D

Well, during their first world tour, they gave speeches and private performances in various places, such as : - the _Kaohsiung American School_ in Taiwan - _Yale University_ in New Haven - the _Elizabeth Faidley Studio_ in New York - the _Melbourne Youth Orchestras_ They've planned to perform in New York again for their next world tour, I'm sure they would be more than happy to go and visit Juilliard and even share their experience with students there if the opportunity presented itself ! Maybe they're just waiting for an invitation... 😊
