I remember seeing this live and immediately said, "oh my God, she's doing Marlene Dietrich" once I explained it to me less informed friends they enjoyed it. Remember, this was The Girlie Show. At this time LIKE A VIRGIN was a classic. She paid homage to the song and a feminist icon simultaneously, voice and all. It was brilliant but you have to know something to understand just how brilliant it was. Madonna never misses. Sometimes you're just not in on the joke.

Superb coreography and performance, but what I really love is the chameleon like ability of keyboards to take on multiple roles. Here they accurately replicate the attack, phrasing, and cadence in the manner a real string orchestra would replete with accordion. This is just a masterful demonstration of the audible quality currently available in the best string samples, in the hands of players who understand how to utilize, arrange, and mimick the idiom. Bravo!!!!!

No, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the vocals here. It is meant to be a funny performance, she sang in a heavy German accent on purpose BRILLIANTLY, this is an homage to Marlene Dietrich. Something might be wrong with your auditory system and brain though.

She's doing a take-off of Marlene Dietrich's very famous performance of "Falling In Love Again" which can be found on youtube. In German, v's are pronounced like a w and thus the "wor-gin." The Blonde Ambition version of this song has always been my favorite. =^)

@metfordgeorge In her movie "The Blue Angel," Marlene's character wears a tuxedo and top hat and sings the song "Falling in Love Again." I'd say what Madonna is doing is more of a tribute to Miss Dietrich than a parody. Now, how authentic her German accent is, I don't know. Germans, please weigh in =^)
