I’m very new to luxury and I’m finding the main challenge is building a list of items I actually love rather than what I think I’m supposed to love. This past summer, after a TON of research, I finally walked into Dior and bought my dream medium Lady Dior in black textured leather with silver hardware (I didn’t want the smooth lambskin because I want to avoid scratching). As I try to figure out other dream bags to add to my collection, your videos help me ask the right questions as I build my list (thank you for that!). I ❤ your top!!! I’ve been stalking Lily Silk for months but haven’t had the courage to complete my purchase 😂

Agree on most of these. The Cartier and Van Cleef items are in same category for me. I too was influenced as I saw them everywhere and let's face it - they are gorgeous but I agree that a bespoke made item from local jeweller is not only just as nice but is even more special as it is individual. Also agree with the Chanel jacket - I have always wanted one too but I have tried two on and both made me look huge. I think it's the tweed. It was the same when I tried on a tweed Balmain blazer - I have two other Balmain blazers and they are flattering (when I can actually fit in them - slightly snug at the min) but the tweed version of the same exact style - oh my goodness - no no no. I was so disappointed. At least it has saved me a lot of ££

Well done Amelia, I know we all have our “dream lists”, glad you worked out what you really don’t want. Have a suggestion (tongue in cheek), take a pic of the Pearl Chanel Bag have it laminated & stick in the back of your cupboard. Then you’ll have “the bag” without too much cost. I’m tired of all the influencing of bags but really annoyed about “fine jewellery”. Who wants the same expensive jewellery as everyone else. I’ve had a 48 emerald & diamond bracelet for years & the shape looks like little flowers with a diamond in the middle in 9ct gold for durability. I’d rather wear that bracelet than any Alhambra (VCA multi churned out “fine jewellery”) it’s pretty but I like pieces designed for me alone. I’ve had pearl jewellery designed in Hawaii, ordered & delivered to lil old Adelaide in Sth Australia. Bangles drive me bonkers with all the clacking whilst typing. A good jewellery designer can make anything (I had a late friend who was an awesome gemologist & jewellery designer). Peek around yr manufacturing jewellers, you’ll find they will accommodate your needs. Take care & have a great weekend. Best wishes from Adelaide; South Australia🇦🇺💐

Omg I need to save that Chanel jacket speech the next time I need to do housework! You should be a motivational/life coach or something, bc that was good! It got me right in the feels!! I have chronic pain despite being in my mid 30s, so I throw pity parties of 1 sometimes and I procrastinate others, or I make excuses bc I do t few like doing stuff that’s difficult or will trigger my pain, even tho basically everything does🤷🏼‍♀️… so sometimes stuff gets put off until there’s a huge amnt of crap that needs to get done; or unexpectedly, something pops up-some reason it allll *has to get done *NOW, but yesterday would have been preferable 🤦‍♀️ - and it ends up being super stressful and/or causing me more pain, bc there’s a shit ton of stuff to do and no time to do it. Definitely no time to take a break and put my feet up for a while. Every time, things go the same way… I put stuff off or just get lazy and find more enjoyable things to do (who wants to do laundry or dishes and vacuum, mop, wipe down baseboards, cook dinner every single night, or scrub kitchen/shower tile?!?) I even grumble abt just putting dishes away bc it hurts my back, but it doesn’t kill me… Actually, I usually recover after I sit for a few mins… and I’ve survived this long atleast. The last time my Mother in law visited was almost the death of me though… So essentially I’m saying- ur jacket “pep talk” actually put me in the state of mind to just get up and start doing shit; bc when I go that route it’s much less anxiety ridden, unpleasant and uncomfortable. This weekend we have house guests coming and at *some point, one just can’t put the chores off any longer. So I don’t know who I’m trying to kid by taking my sweet time to start checking things off the list. Thanks for the motivational speech! I’m going to have to save it the next time I have the urge to do some online shopping too!! haha 😆 The video was great too, such a good idea! I always appreciate when those that “influence” us share a positive, healthy message❤️ In my case, it’s lifesaving! I’m not kidding… I was so worn out and irritable when my MIL came that I almost jumped across the table and beat her face in. J/k! I’m just joking! Haha 😂 kind of…

Shawls and scarves were a big trap for me, because they are pretty, and usually at a much lower price point than a handbag. So they'd give me that short burst of satisfaction of having bought something, even if I didn't have the budget to buy a big item. Then I realised they just sat in my closet gathering dust. I'm not a scarf person. The last time I wore one of them was as a cover-up over my dress at a wedding. It had been the first and last time I had worn it.

Totally agree about the Chanel jackets. I just ‘wanted’ one for the symbolism. But when I tried ones on (preloved) I kept having to go up and up in sizes. And that just made me feel worse about myself which seemed to defeat the purpose of spending $$$ on a jacket. They are so small in sizing and don’t really suit my body shape. I’ve found great alternatives at high street stores such as Mango, Zara etc.

Hi Amelia ! About the Chanel jacket , have you ever thought about looking for a vintage one ? I had the same problem with a Balmain leather jacket ( love the 80's dramatic shoulder cut ) but new ones looked baggy on me ( I'm 5ft3 and size 4/6 ) . Then I found a one from the late 80's ( less expensive + unique model ) and the fit is perfect . You are lovely as usual .

Yeah true we need to talk to ourselves at times to make sense. Oh btw Cartier have Love Bracelet that is just cuff version which one can take out easily. But frankly the Love Bracelet design can be easily customized by local jeweler and cost lesser where else the JUC is harder to customized and perhaps costly, so am thinking of JUC the small version later. I recently got the VCA vintage Guilloche Alhambra for my B''day. Got this because the design is unique and not easily customized and i love it. In my opinion for fine jewelry those unique design is worth getting from the brand itself where else those design that is very common i.e Love bracelet, can be easily copied and still cost lesser than those luxury one. I will also revisit my Wish List. Lol.

Cartier love bracelet. When I fell out with the person who gave me it, after a few months I took it to the pawn shop to sell it. The bracelet cost £3200, the pawn shop offered me £480 for it, he said it was only worth that scrap gold value. I was shocked. I returned it to the person who gave me it.

Yes, gold is only worth its intrinsic value based on the going carat weight. The only way to recoup funds is to sell to a luxury reseller that cares about the name. The thin JUC is $3690.00 with tax USD but only 9 grams. Its only worth about $300.00 USD.

Have to say when I see your Petite Malle on your shelf I get a little bag remorse as I sold mine. I have an unworn Chanel pearl mini bag that I've never worn and my daughter is advising me to sell it, which I may. Prefer the small love bracelet and have the regular size that I've never worn. I often ‘go off’ things after 6 months when something new comes along. However, I’ve a theory with jacket and I think it’s because it isn’t you. You may feel it doesn’t fit your body type well but I’d say it doesn’t fit your personality. It gives a cool, aloof, calm, slightly uptight vibe and your clothing - from what we have seen - is vibrant with pieces that enable you to get out and get stuff done, like you live a fast-paced lifestyle and that jacket is the opposite. Another KZbinr had a Prada crystal bag which she recently put up for sale and I think because it just isn’t her… but it would be you. Does this makes sense or do I sound bonkers? 😅

Love bracelets are too expensive for what they are. They are oval so they are more comfortable than a round but why get something billions of people have? There's so many other beautiful things at Cartier to waste time on the just en clou or the love. Same for VCA and the Allhambras. I also want a Chanel type jacket. I have no intention to ever pay their money for one. Instead I'm making my own (I indeed have the necessary skillz for it) The beauty of making your own it you get it to fit you and pick your personal fabric ;-D

Thanks! So much of this spoke to me! Chanel jackets are made for people without much chest (any). They are very straight cut and look gorgeous when they are tight across the chest and when you have super thin arms, no shoulders. I also wanted one for years but had the same experience after pre ordering a few and finding them looking awful on me when they arrived. I am a regular size 8 or 10 depending but with a chest and they looked terrible and frumpy on me. I have had however had a lot of luck with Chanel dresses, recent fine knit dress with A line silhouette and one from 21 cruise which is a kaftan which I belt, gorgeous flowing silk. The problem is that these dresses cost a small fortune and honestly are not more beautiful than dresses that are $2k not 10k so that’s it for me and Chanel ready to wear, I’m done. It was fun but no more it just doesn’t add up, I can buy more flattering clothes online with return policies without torturing myself at Chanel. I have turned much more attention recently to clothing than bags as I find if your clothing doesn’t quite flatter a beautiful bag cannot fix that situation!🥲 Wish it could but we know it can’t.
