The instrument she is holding in her left hand is called a bident, a spear with two heads. It is a symbol for the masculine and feminine energy the positive and negative charge of the bio-electric matrix. It is the electric and magnetic current of the kundalini shakti, the Ida and Pingala coming together into a unified whole an instrument. Like a lightening rod it draws in spiritual energy which when used properly can be directed in a positive manner toward the manifestation of creative energy. In her left hand is a thunderbolt representing the kundalini shakti which rises from the muladhara chakra and makes its way up to the Ajna chakra. There may also be an indirect correlation to the two hemispheres of the brain as well. Magha Nakshatra is related to the Ajna chakra which resides in the body at the third eye where the two poles of Ida and Pingala meet between the eyes. It is the location of the Penial and Pituitary glands. The yogi who masters this chakra and manages to raise their kundalini to this point is granted devine vision and intuition. They are able to see past, present and future, to understand the subtle workings of life to see and understand things which are beyond the purview of mundane human beings. This would explain the animal associated with Magha as being the eagle who is able to take a birds eye view of the totality and see the bigger picture. The Nakshatra Aslesha has its home in Muladhara chakra or the ground and through many lifetimes of experience knows the intimate details of life from a deeply personal perspective. How interesting that the Gandanta point lies between Magha and Aslesha which are the two sides of the Ajna chakra. When Alesha and Magha come together, when Shiva and Parvati are reunited, heaven and earth, male and female, spirit and matter, unite. The microcosm and the microcosm become one. All seeming duality and paradoxes are resolved. The primal energy of all creation is available to the adept. When the energy is further purified and raised to the crown chakra ones conciousness merges with the bhraman or cosmic consciousness. This is the essence of all Occult knowledge.

:) yes the objectivity is the best quality. I have sun in magha gandanta too, mercury conj and in lagna and yes, objectivity is a result after lot of struggle of knowing what works and what does not. Thanks for the mantra and all info, very useful

One small but important correction to my previous comment about the animal symbolism connected to Magha. The animal connected to Magha is the rat which is a nocturnal animal and can see in the dark. It goes into the smallest places and understands the inner workings of nature and those things that are hidden. The planet that rules Magha is Ketu. Ketu is associated with the Eagle. He is often depicted riding an Eagle. It is also interesting that Muladhara chakra is governed by Ganesha who rides a rat. Aslesha nakshatra is associated with Muladhara chakra which resides at the base of the spine and the Deity of Aslesha are the Nagas the Devine serpents. The serpent is a symbol for Kundalini.
