I have 15 manga slots in my budget. 14 slots are always full with the remaining slot to try new titles. Everything is on the chopping block potential if I find a new title that wows me.

I absolutely think that's a smart way to do it, especially with ongoing manga and I think that helps with the wallet hurt that can come with manga collecting

I really love these types of videos, it's a lot of fun hearing what series people don't like and why. Touring after the apocalypse bored me so I dropped it after one volume. If I wasn't reading these from my library I would have dropped them all to be honest. I'm sticking with Blue Period but it can be a lot to get through sometimes. I want to love the Case study of Vanitas since it's by the same mangaka who did my favourite series Pandora hearts but I feel like it's missing something and I don't know what. With Parasyte I think the anime is where it's at for that series.

Interesting take on Fire Punch - I actually read it after Chainsaw Man, but I honestly like it more! There's something special about it, and it being a complete, shorter kinda story... and I think it's definitely worth a read even if you don't collect it! Maybe if you have SJ Digital Vault or something? It's one of my favourite post-apocalyptic stories for sure, and I love how it develops after the first volume DEFINITELY different from Chainsaw Man, but has that signature Fujimoto flair

I kind of had a feeling just like with ChainsawMan his works sometimes seem to take a volume or two to introduce to the story he wants to tell, that’s a good Idea I might check it out digitally to see if it’s worth collecting and if the story grabs me more the further I get into it.

When you said Fire Punch, I was like yeah totally agree, I also read it after CSM and felt it was quite similar and dropped it after volume 1. Then on Parasyte, I understand you thinking. I haven't read it but I watched the anime. It felt slow in the beginning, but man when it picked up, it didn't stop. Hope you get hooked on the manga as well. And totally get the hardcover thing. I am personally a sucker for connected spines, one of the major reasons why I bought Vagabond. In the end tho, when you said Hell's Paradise, I was like yo WTF, this dude is crazy. But then you talked about box set coming out, and I was like yeah, that makes sense. Made of think about offloading my volumes as well (I only own 3) to get a box set when it comes out. I did the same thing for the promised neverland. I started reading it this year, got 5 vols. Then heard they are releasing a box set, so I sold those.

I also disliked ptsd after picking it after all the hype, only thing I disagreed with was beastars, gotta give it a try before getting rid of it

Blue period makes me wish I tried harder in my 4 years of art in high school instead of using it as an easy A and place to play yugioh 😅
@DanielPeppers Жыл бұрын
I understand that...but I think we can all agree Yugioh was/is very important so honestly Great Job! lol

I agree with everything you've said about PTSD Radio, I got the series recently just to try out a horror manga and I think I will end up selling them caus it's not really my thing, but I would still encourage you to read em all before getting rid of them. The story itself I also found just kind of meh and a bit all over the place, but why people got hooked on it all happen towards the end. It shifts from the story the mangaka was trying to tell to him actually talking about what happened to him IRL, but in manga form. He kind of goes back and forth one chapter is the story, one chapter is what happened IRL, until it gets to the end where he had to stop because he was scared for his life (or so he says). It didn't get me hooked on the horror genre but still I think that last volume made for a really cool concept, I can see why horror manga fans would enjoy that series and find it unsettling
@DanielPeppers Жыл бұрын
Oh really!? I didn’t know that’s what the manga evolved into IRL stuff that’s does sound super interesting, i’m definitely going to stick with the three volumes I have and especially now that you’ve told me that it has gotten me super curious Thanks for letting me know !
@bidulus1 Жыл бұрын
@@DanielPeppers If you already have the three omnibuses then even more reason to keep reading it, those three omnibuses are the entire series, it's a pretty short read. There's no more volumes after those that you'd have to get, the IRL stuff is in the second half of that third omnibus

Great video! Just picked up touring after the apocalypse & PTSD Radio. Hope I like them and I loved the anime to Kinos Journey so I need to get the manga at sometime. I feel you on Blue Period. I didn’t hate it. I just don’t get the hype. I definitely want to reread it and give it a far chance.

Ok. I was okay with everything until you got to Hell's Paradise (It's in my top 10). I laughed and yelled, "Oh, now. Wait a minute!" Then you got to the idea of a boxed set so I let it go. No, really everyone is entitled to their own taste and opinions. I hope it does get a nice boxed set. It is a phenomenal work. Interesting video. How do you unhaul? I am working this out. I have need to do a bit of a trim down with my collection.
@DanielPeppers Жыл бұрын
Haha yeah that one was a little bit of a lie on my part, it is a phenomenal series. Honestly I ask friends if they are interested in any of the series I want to drop and give them a good deal on it, or I have a second hand manga shop near me that I off load series which is just easier then selling them online or something like that

Hill's Paradise is from the vis sgs line they don't get box sets

Have you read Yakuza Fiancé? It might be part of my unhaul. Read the first volume and it didn’t really grab me? Romance manga has to land well with me to continue. I did pickup Yona after your video, lol.
@DanielPeppers Жыл бұрын
I have not really heard of that series, I think I’ve heard the name just not much about it. Really!? Hopefully I didn’t lead you a stray I’ve really been enjoying it I’ve only read to Volume 4 but I think that’s a good romance series

If you went into Yakuza Fiancé looking for romance then you took a wrong turn

sad. 2 from your list are actually a favorite of mine. Ao Haru Ride - it felt realistic for me. how the character's thinks and reacts felt authentic. it captured the high school romance I experienced and observed. :D Parasyte - it's on my top 3, for me it was well written. a story I wish I am the one who wrote it. curious about your list of on going series that you will continue reading. :)
@DanielPeppers Жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea I really need to sit down and see what I’m really enjoying for ongoing series. I think with Ao Haru Ride it might have been just when I was reading so much of the same thing it made it fall really flat for me With Parasyte I have to finish that series and give it it’s fair try because you are not the only one that has said stuff like that about it and I feel like it might be one where once I’m deep in the series it will click for me

I recently sold my collection of Hell's Paradise and PTSD Radio for the exact reasons that you stated.

I feel the EXACT same way about PTSD Radio! The way it was “changing stations” was super annoying to me trying to read it. I unhauled them too. I had volume 3 and I didn’t even want to read it by the end of the second one. Hell’s Paradise is in my unhaul pile. I read it and loved it!! But I don’t think I’ll reread it. I’ll just watch the anime. It was a super hard decision because the covers are AWESOME!! I may have to unhaul Real Account based on what you said about it. I only have the first 4 volumes. I was super surprised to see Parasyte on this list!! The hardcovers are totally worth it. This series has a lot of heart and I think you’d really enjoy it!
@MargReadsManga Жыл бұрын
Also! I enjoy watching “unhaul” videos! Keep doing them in the future! It’s okay to not like a series. I’m all about making room on my shelves for something I DO want to read. And then looking at my shelves with a smile to see it full of things I absolutely love.

Blue Lock: not gonna collect 25+ volumes and its (however many) spin off volumes; story is not so great vs huge financial commitment. Still like it tho.

I got DNAngel for cheap. I read it. I hate with passion all stories with 2 identities in general but specifically this one especially. I sell them I meet this girl she says it's her favourite manga of all time, I mumbled a Sheesh and off I went.

Keep on going with Fire Punch, 1 volume for that manga is definitely not enough.

Money is important so i have no comment for that One's life is way way more important than some mangas that you might or might not like At least half of first 1st Volume manga volumes that i read were not met the hype But imagine how many good manga series that i will not experienced if i drop them based on 1st Volume and what other people say about the series's ending The tricky part is it's often somewhere in between Sometimes what other people's say is right but sometimes they're wrong And when they're wrong you would have this kind of regret and thinking "why i do not this manga more chances"?
