Randon comment: Perhaps it is a global phenomenon, but in the US, the 10mm (like the one in the video) wrench/spanner is considered nearly magical - being able to disappear and appear at random times. Cheers!

Hi Archie... Some viewers suggested that I should sharpen the lower edge as well but that would stop you from hooking it under and using it as a guide because it would just cut into the wood.. Yes the upward pressure helps to stop cutting too much off... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy

When using a small spanner, it might be worth grinding off the other end and inserting it into a long wooden handle, this would give more control and make it a lot safer to use.

I have just been thinking the very same thing. Safer, more control & a wooden handle would take out any HAV,s ..... Hand Arm Vibration issues. Its a big H&S issue where I come from. Although if using it just every now & then, maybe a ruck of gaffer tape might be good enough. Good point well made.

Great idea Andy! You could epoxy or hot glue a little cheap rare earth magnet to it, and itll stick to the side of the lathe! Easy to find! To be honest, I didnt read the title. Rarely do. If its someone im subbed to, I just watch. Stay dry buddy!

I also have a couple of magnetic tool holders behind my lathe which are great for holding small metal items. I'm a bit stuck with the title to get the views... There's no staying dry in Cornwall... Hi andy ,, not sure who but someone else made a dowel cutter out of a spanner with the other end sharp which i copied , works the same , i keep them honed with a piece of 220 wet n dry emery cloth glue to a board,,. Regards Alf
