The verb for "My work starts..." shouldn't be 始めます ?

Hi, 「始まる」is an intransitive verb and it means "something starts by itself". 「始める」is a transitive verb and is used when you or someone else starts something. e.g. 授業が始まる The class will start. 先生が授業を始める The teacher starts a class. I hope this answers your question.
