@@maxhindmarch252Not really. Incompetence can be cause for punitive action in some cases. Perhaps not jail time, but there can certainly be severe consequences, especially if their incompetence leads to the death of others. This is what inquiries and investigations are for - to determine if and what consequences are warranted. Also, it was predicted. Every government in the world has been aware that a major pandemic could be a possibility in the near future for years before it hit. Woefully few of them did anything about it.

Johnson looked up to Churchill, who stepped in as our war time PM, because he had the skill set after Chamberlin's resignation. In a similar way, Johnson should have given way to a more competent minister with an operational public health background, during covid. Ultimately it would have probably been better for Johnson's career overall - if we look at it from his self-preservation point oif view. I said this at the time, when it was clear that Johnson failed to act on the advice of medical professionals during the first few months of the pandemic, which could have saved lives and reduced the need for lockdowns, to one degree or another.
@BK1001111 ай бұрын
Without echoing comments already made about Boris, one of my biggest takes from this is the complete & utter contempt the other senior Ministers & govt in general have for us! There may be certain exaggerations here but it can’t ALL be untrue and I actually believe most of what is being said. Whilst being aware of this complete mess of a government, others stood by him, even to this day and continue to speak out for Johnson! Sunak is now our PM, Truss became PM, crashed the economy and is accountable for much of the crisis we’re now in financially, Gove continues to be a senior member of the govt, Dorries has only recently resigned, Hancock earns millions from a ‘reality tv show’ career, JRM continues to lord it around and now has a tv career adding to his income….the list goes on and on… For me, it really does prove that we are treated as 2nd class citizens, but on this occasion, the cost was many thousands of lives. Criminal cases should be brought against those who lied, who have cheated (and there are many who did) and it’s time for those who continue hiding away to be brought to justice. But let’s be honest now! Who honestly believes this will happen? The evidence has been there for yrs now & still all they do is continue to spend MORE public money on enquiries that appear to NEVER have a definitive outcome with the appropriate action taken. A complete and utter disgrace, criminals in plain sight & the world stands by and watches….

With language like he was using about his supposed colleagues I don't know how the lawyer can use the word "professional" in the same sentence. It gives a really clear view into this ghouls mind. In ANY other real profession with behaviour like this you would be gone instantly. I've personally shown people the door for far less. It should be remembered that Johnson put this stain on humanity in a position of massive and unwarranted power.

ALternatively, he was having to cope with tories in a pandemic - I think my language would be similar.

@@piccalillipit9211 As a "professional"? In a working environment the language you use tells people a lot about the person. I started my working life on the shop floor in a black iron foundry. That language was in constant use. I finished my career as a Director at a large company. I'd consider that type of behaviour as a good guide the person and would remove anyone with that type of character. They're corrosive. Blame Johnson, this idiot is just the messenger.

@@gazza595 Did you have a company full of Tory MP's...??? "would remove anyone with that type of character. " he was the best of them. We are not talking about comparable situations. I am assuming you worked at a professional company with intelligent professional people. The Tory party was a bunch of grown babies of extreme privilege and very limited intellect making decisions that were killing thousands of people through their own ego and stupidity. I hate Cummings, But I am pretty sure I would lose it if I were in his situation. I don't think I would have time for professionalism and niceties. I think I would be losing my mind as the only intelligent person who actually cared about saving lives. Im not making any excuses for him.

It's interesting, all these people are prepared to squeal like pigs and point the finger at one person in order to save their own necks and then think everything is ok. This is typical of the thinking with MPs they are all as guilty as each other and should all be punished if they broke the law.

I look forward to the enquiry into he way the Scottish Government dealt with covid. Their lock downs and restrictions were far, far harsher than England's. I am sure this wonderfully impartial channel will report on it and judge in the same way, rather than ignore it, because this is all about the 'nasty Tories'.
@bernardcribbins708311 ай бұрын
ONS figures showed 256 excess deaths per 100,000 in Scotland Vs 312 excess deaths per 100,000 in England, as of April 2022. So the data suggests you are either a) ill informed or b) feel that a temporary restriction in freedom is worse than tens of thousands of old or vulnerable people dying.

Glad you agree the tories are nasty. They have certainly proved time and time again how nasty they are.

I didn't vote for this shit show of a govt and the worst ever P M in UK history but you are right, it's not Cummings to blame.

Cummings reckons he's some sort of cross between Plato, Einstein, Machiavelli and Rasputin, but really he's just an edgy teenager.

We knew all that before, during and after his office. Why, how why he was ever pushed upwards we will probarbly never know. If they think they are as clever as the people they advocate I'm sure they are not.
