It's okay the warriors are just too dominant as a healthy team. Luka is in his 3rd year averaging 29 ppg also 8 ast and 9 rebs ppg you should be proud of your star player. I'm a warriors fan and it feels good being in the finals I think we gonna with it all for 4th chip. Watchu think?

His defense isn’t great enough to say he’s all around overall but you could definitely argue that he is one of the best all around offensive talents in the league if not the best. The fact that he’s basically averaged 28 to 29 per game in three of his first four years at this young an age is astounding plus hes averaged 8 to 9 assists per game during those years too. It’s crazy that people slept so hard on a kid who was the best player in the Euroleague (which is the second best league in the world) at the age of 18.

So a thought I had in reference to the various forms of compliments and/or statements towards Luka about not having "speed" or being slow. I agree he has a slower pace but he definitely has top level speed/burst (not the most or best of course, there are crazy genetics that some guys have) Most guys with a fast playstyle blow right past their opponent or they don't. When they do go by them, now they have to deal with the big men in the paint. When the big men see the full on sprint towards the basket they close in. This means the offensive player has to make split second decisions on whether to commit to the shot or find an open man. Basically they give themselves time to find one opening and go for it when they play this way. Luka, however, plays at a slower pace which can be so hard to tell when he'll finally use his burst to get those two steps behind his opponent or towards the basket. Once he gets those steps on his opponent then he can basically box his own defender out while slowly moving to the basket bc the guy is behind him and can't really defend without fouling. This creates another conundrum for the guys in the paint tho... usually their instincts would make them want to move over and commit to the defense on the guy with a lane to the basket... but Luka paces it slow enough that they can't really tell what Luka is gonna do. He paces it so he can still take a well balanced pop up jumper, he can still move towards the basket slowly while using his size/positioning to keep his defender behind him, and now he has many more opportunities/more time to scan his peripherals for passing opportunities. He is basically challenging the defense to choose first so he can react and capitalize. Can't imagine the thought process in the big guys' heads. Like "shit he is in front my guy. Shit he is moving slow... I can't collapse and leave my guy open, but what if he takes the easy jumper and I don't contest, ah shit what if I contest and he gets a free handoff to my guy? Shit what if I do nothing for 1 more second and he gets the ez layup?" Anyways I hope this makes any sense at all. Typed it from my phone... just wanted to give my take on the "lack of speed" stuff I see, when I simply see it as a "pace/playstyle" thing. Luka has the speed, trust me, you don't get around these top level NBA guys if you are slow.

It’s funny in basketball when people see someone so obviously dominating but not exactly doing it through incredible speed or dunking/athletically they seem to have a hard time accepting them as great players. Was the very same thing with Larry Bird even though he continually smashed all before him. It’s like people have an image in their head of what a top player should look like and what attributes they should have no matter what the actual evidence in front of them is saying otherwise. There are many ways to play the game. Talent can’t be taught.

Luka reminds me of a young LeBron. Literally nobody around him and no depth, but still taking down the top teams in the league and giving it his all vs the league champions every year. Get this man a superstar next to him and then we'll see how good he really is.

@anyone, genuine question. Those (rather awesome) spin moves Doncic makes sometimes. Isn't he traveling though? I can't really tell very well and I don't know the traveling rules in the NBA that well. Or is this a case of "technically it is, but refs rarely call it"? In any case, he is one hell of an amazing player.

If you're talking about in the post, it's such a great example of footwork. He keeps his dribble in the post and then takes the ball up on his pivot foot. Then the last tiny detail he uses is, when he leaves his pivot foot, he shoots it in the air. If he can't do that in a split second and his feet touch the ground then it would be a travel but as he currently does it, it's clean as he'll.
