I think it has more to do with the rules: in soccer all players are able to appeal directly to the ref in play and when it’s stopped-appealing to the ref and discussing the game with him is not just allowed it’s expected. That’s not the case in rugby where only the captain can talk directly to the ref and only at certain times-of course, the ref can talk to anyone at any time!
@christianbarnay24995 ай бұрын
@@steadadelica No. The rule about talking to the ref in football is captain and goalkeeper only. The problem in football is not the rules. It's the lack of enforcing them. And that lack comes from all football authorities from FIFA to National and District authorities always siding with players against the refs. Football refs are all alone against everybody. They simply can't do their job.

Ha, Nigel really is the best. Sad to hear he's put his cleats on the shelf for internationals. Probably spoke more sense than any ref and taught new ref's coming through how to ref a game. Legend!

This makes me wish there were some clips of Clive Norling. - I particularly remember to Andy Robinson "Any more of your mouthing goodboy and you're.walking. British Loon or not"

I don’t think ever ever heard anything more Welsh than “there is no reason I can’t give you that you cannot award a try”

"I'm straighter than that one" - what a legend. This is exactly how it should be. One man embracing his shit in a fine way. I have zero issues with that.

Nice compilation of the best ref I've ever seen in 40+ years of working on rugby programmes.

Without the shadow of a doubt... Nigel Owen is the greatest referee in Rugby... his comments, funny, witty, remains however always clear and fair... and respected by all players... "this is not soccer!" Definitely define the huge difference between the two sports... rugby is a game of respect...

Reffing is an art not a science, Nigel is a proper Picasso.
