I usually don't like it when people say, "It's just a game." because it's not a bad thing to be passionate about something you enjoy. But if playing the game starts to affect the way you treat others and even ruins their fun with the game then you really need to take a step back and realize that it really is just a game. Maybe even touch some grass while you're at it. Competitive games can really bring out the absolute worst in people.

Honestly, for the Apex vtuber community on JP, one of the shitty issue is how viewers often say to the streamer that reached masters (like Hinano, Noah, Matsuri, Izuru) "got carried" to masters even if they are good in their own right. This is specially true for Matsuri and some extent, Towa and its annoying seeing people say these otherwise. Watching Selen, IPN and Restya yesterday was really a blast as you can see they really have a good synergy. Selen is someone who can pop off when need to (the sentinel mozam clutch) and can keep up with the other two (Restya is a consistent Pred and IPN was a former pro). Selen talking about her friends also reminded me of rpr's discussion with an NA player on how the team synergizes. Like rpr, taisheen and made are like brothers that they themselves always do positive reinforcement while the NA team are mostly on the toxic/negative reinforcement. Aka when they made a mistake, rpr's team comms will be like looking on the positive side (saying that at least they got 9 points, they did well etc ) while the NA team is on the negative side(calling each other dumb, worst player, etc.).
@mycatto71663 жыл бұрын
I think for selen people won't be able to said that she got carried to master because at the time she reach master her rank is higher than the pros she has been playing with (Restya ipn RPR at that time are still on diamond). So that at least proves at she is grinding rank on her own most of the time. And like you said when she actually play with the pros she was able to keep up with them and gaining max kp on her own.
@Skelyos3 жыл бұрын
Agreed dunno if you saw Aqua's solo road to masters but she managed to literally solo to D1 and get to around 200 or so points off from masters before the split ended (IIRC) & people were still saying she got carried? I think it's actually great that her self-esteem remained intact after that, even if she cut them off. I can only slightly relate when it comes to writing. I used to be told that I was a great writer and debater, where like my classmates would actually feel like they hit the jackpot when I get grouped with them. Of course, when the time came when it really mattered and everything was taken seriously, the standard they expected from me was suddenly gone (non-placers) and because of that, I was left out of many training sessions to improve my "skill". I was basically an afterthought, and it only tales a silver lining and extremely positive thinking to even be grateful that I got grouped up with them. I would never join another division debate contest. I never joined any writing or spelling contests anymore. I don't even want to write for anyone anymore. I think one day I started thinking that I was the problem. It stuck ever since. Now, whenever people compliment my work, I ignore it and think that "they don't know that I copied from one of my classmates who joined regional writing contests". I don't even think I call my works inspired any more. It doesn't look like imposter syndrome, I know. It seems more like…disillusionment. People can say I have a creative mind, but my experiences only prove that I'm hardly ever creative. What I enjoyed doing then became torture. So now I end up doing nothing. Nothing at all.

sometimes when i look at the attempts to make female pro teams i honestly wonder if they're really being set up to fail, so that someone can go "hey, we tried but it cant be helped". Like the most prominent i can think of off the top of my head is the female league pro team that was put into the russian leagues, except that they were all diamonds against challengers and stuff. Felt more like a pub stunt or humiliation. and as a girl i think like, its kind of weird playing ow (a few years back), apex and league now, where people see your name and say weird shit like "oh did u get autofilled" (i'm a top main and he was implying i normally play sp) or like "ah gg" - in league and ow. in apex its more of harassment rather than quitters talk, but gets extremely uncomfortable fast. and i think like, i feels more accepted these days, but still a lot of skepticism and sexism which becomes almost "normal". Like being called an egirl, which is normal now to the pt whrre lots of people call themselves that, even though its still pretty sexist. it just feels weird, i think that a whole 50 ish % of humanity is just discredited at the highest levels of gaming (and other stuff...)

I do get good teammates when they wanted to work together no matter win or lose. Sometimes I get bad teammates and they just instantly left because either they are experiencing shitty frames and connection, or the fact that they need a fresh start. Dealing with Lag and shitty frames made me leave instantly because I can't play properly without stuttering. Overall, Selen needs to understand that Friends come and go. The "It's just a game" thing is also very situational. Like another talk that Botan from Hololive had (she is an ex-pro on Rainbow Six Siege) and she shared why she doesn't want to join any kind of tournaments. If she joins an actual hosted tournament and not a fun event dubbed as a tournament pretty much her whole perspective of "it's just a game" is going to become a very serious situation. On that note I 100% agree that toxicity is the worst thing even in pro-level competitive settings. It's one thing to be harsh and critical of someone and another to be toxic.

bruh this is exactly why i dont play with team if i have the option, not just in apex but in every pvp game that i played, like destiny 2 i solo grinded to max rank point and got legend rank and as soon as my friend know about it they be like "bro carry us" i was not about that shiet but i did it anyway cause they are my friend, what do you know everytime we loose a round, not the entire match , just 1 round lost andthey either blame me or call the other team cheater , its dumb

thats rough, this is why its very lucky for me and some people when were a good team and we actually know each other irl so even if we curse at each other for being downbad (bad perfomance at the game, not bad player but only at that game) still i know what they think of me (not when im raging) so its very lucky. and Yes before i found these friends i only had online friends so their Cursing really got into me. it really did affect me. now i dont just use it when im raging or angered but i casually just say "fuck you" like its such a light thing its actually weird. how do y'all calm down when raging? i usually just splash water to my face and listen to my fav music but sometimes it just doesnt work..

When Selen talked about her being in Nijisanji and felt the same imposter syndrome To me thats ridicilous because to me at least she is a VERY different person, not just as a Vtuber for Nijisanji, but as a content creator aswell

it kinda sucks when people take ranks in games too seriously, sure its nice to be in a high elo but if you take it till the point you get mad at your own friends for such a little thing and blame them for it, it really sucks. this is why most of the time i play alone.
@chomosuke71472 жыл бұрын
I just started playing apex(Oct 2021) and had my friend(he insisted on helping) teach me how to play it. Its so hard tbh, maybe because of my friend's elo. he is a platinum player(highest platinum II). So while we were playing, his other friend saw him online and invited him to play but my friend declines and told him that he's helping me to get used to the game atm. This friend of his is really hot tempered, even the slightest mistake can make him complaint and talk trash at u. He wanted to join us but my friend told him in advance that im a new player(was my 2nd day) so im still learning with the basics. He responded sure no problem at all and joined us... The more we played, the quieter he become. Guess hes holding the rage inside of him. After awhile the atmosphere become too awkward so I decided to call it a day. After I left, his mouth started to open up to my friend. We were just playing trios and this man was complaining like he lost a major competition because of me. After hearing it from my friend, I felt so down and lost my confidence to progress further. I told him that if u want to play with him sure but I would never play with that man again. Because of him I nearly quit playing, I feel like im not good enough to play apex. Not sure if this is related but I understand the feeling of not belonging at the place that ure currently on because of someone's complaints.

That was unfortunate, Hope you can find another team in the Dragoons discord. I know that there will be plenty of friendly dragoon willing to team up with you, they even hold some competitions. So if you really feel like geting back to the game, you can find the dragoons. The dragoons squad will always be there~♥ Here's the discord link if you wonder: discord.gg/selen

@@Toxicbirb Ohhh how kind of u, I'll try checking it out. well I nearly quit but I pushed myself to play it. But after trying solo-ing, I felt more free cause I can make my own decision cause when i was playing with my friend, I usually follow his instructions/calls like when to push/run. Its been exactly a month since Ive started playing, and I can see a lot of improvement on my movement/aim/rotation. i only play trios now. after this half season is over, I would try grinding my rank and see if I improve while playing trios/firing range only.and I swear to myself that I would never play with that guy anymore even if I got better in apex, not willing to risk my mental health playing with him.
@Toxicbirb2 жыл бұрын
@@chomosuke7147 Well you should just choose to leave him and not suffer him for that long. There are plenty of people that are nicer. Btw you shouldn't push yourself too hard just to play a game, a game is for fun. If you didn't have fun at that game, you should quit it and try something new. But yeah, if you just check out the dragoon squads.

Idk how anyone can say boosted in Apex of all games. If you're talking about other ranked sweat games, then maybe yea cos those games have huge hyper carry potential. Apex is really hard to hyper carry at the peak, because the more skilled the player pool becomes, the more stacked your odds become vs other games where you can basically bully the enemy team's weakest link and then slam them with pure advantage.

Well considering that she turned the number one player in her current server into embers snack. Recently I'd say that case of Imposter Syndrome should get just yeeted. We all know if Selen were to go actual full sweat she could probably carry a team to like top 10 predator easily. If anything someone who wants to make a team that could be almost called like above Predator we could call it like alien at that point. Selen is genuinely one of the top picks. Like if Selen didn't like pity enemies and went full savage burn out Apex predator I'd honestly be willing to bet Selen could beat the under 24 hr predator rank. If she actually like tried.

luckily when i'm playing dota i'm hard stuck in 4k mmr so i never had impostor syndrome and just playing for fun with my friends and now i'm playing alone i had such bad attitude toward any competitive games and swear a lot (talking to myself not using voice in game for bashing them)

Once again, I read through comments before watching the video, thinking the story is gonna be awful, and it ends up being pretty normal-ass, toxic online behavior. Don't get me wrong, she was right to leave. I'd have done the same. But this "imposter syndrome" is a pretty normal thing most people go through at least once in their lives. Just about everybody has that moment once or twice where they think "did I earn this?" Unless you were somehow born a narcissist. And the way the comments frame the story, without getting the context straight from the horse's mouth, makes it sounds way worse than it actually is.

I don't mean to be rude but what's the point of subbing english on an english video? Especially since the subs are kinda incorrect anyway
@MuStCoMmEnT093 жыл бұрын
Subtitles are nice to have, since it gives you the option to mute, and gives more people access to content in the event they're not good at processing audio. Or even if they're deaf That said, yeah, would've been nice if they proofread the subtitles a bit.
@shinji1363 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you're aware of it, but deaf people exist, as well as those whose english is not their first language.

Sorry if there's any incorrect subs which might be my mistake, i just feel that sometimes the words is hard to listen as even when i'm doing subs, i sometimes listen wrong or had to listen a ton of times just to make sense. Truely sorry if i cause you any trouble.

To justify the behavior of the ex teammate, probably they had their worst day at that time, but hey they might be just rude. Good riddance anyway.

You don't need to try and justify someone saying something like that to a teammate. Bad day or whatever, you could seriously wreck someone's confidence and self-worth.

i know its really bad for that guy to say that and all and selen made the right decision but wouldn 't of it been good to talk about it with him first instead of just cutting it off like people sometimes lash out when they tilted not trying to defend him but it mught of been better to try and resolve it
@MuStCoMmEnT093 жыл бұрын
A comment like that only comes from somebody who doesn't respect you in the first place. The word choice alone probably indicates that he would never have been capable of respecting her in the first place due to likely being a bit sexist. She definitely made the right call. You don't treat your friends like that, and even if you're lashing out you're still responsible for your actions, and choice of words.

Yea that guy is rude, but sorry , my hot take is that at least current Selen doesn't deserve Masters , Id agree with Diamond 1 . Sorry , but Selen is just equally toxic LMAO . Its a toxic v toxic world out there.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I haven't seen Selen be toxic on the level of what that guy said, or blaming teammates or sending hate messages to other players. She BMs enemies sometimes and ribs her teammates (friendly messing around) but that's totally different from getting loud and angry, or sending hate.

"deserve" lol okay, as bad as toxicity can be in games idk what sort of ranking based on toxic behavior you got going on here lmao. if anything compared to some of the shit I put up with in bronze she deserves pred.

Hahahaha if you think that was so toxic bruh you ain't ready for any competitive games you might even cry. Also you probably haven't even watched any of her Apex streams and she's crazy good even for a washed up ex top 500 pred like her.

There's different types of toxic okay, like Selen's is kind of making fun with friends, but that guys is just totally dick. Selen mention that it was unlucky matches and you can't just yell at your teammate when you losses. That is freaking rude, plus Selen actually deserve pred if you watch her stream.
