You or Simon need to get a police fire scanner. During my visits to Montréal I used to hook up with a college student named peter bouffard who then lived in Montreal and at the time he had a scanner and we used to pass the time by riding in on fires and accidents. I was actually at the scene of the big church fire in May 1987 where two firemen were killed When the latter of the rear mount on the truck snapped off and fell into the blaze. The church burned down and was never rebuilt at Sherbrooke and Simpson streets. My buddy and Peter were just leaving the GreenSpot restaurant, when the call came in. As I recall the fire had been set by a disturbed woman at four in the morning . The crown actually sentenced her to prison time. I don't know if you recall that fire?

by law (I think) no fire/rescue/police personal or trucks are allowed lights/siren through a intersection due to it being very detracting and could cause an accident
@ArmEConDoesMinecraft
@ArmEConDoesMinecraft 8 жыл бұрын
That is incorrect. If you are going to a call, you have 3 types of responses. Code 1, which is no lights no sirens, code 2 which is lights no siren, and code 3 which is lights and siren. Most of the time lights and sirens are used in an intersection when going to a call because you need to get everyone's attention so they can stop and move out of your way.

ok thank you for clearing that up, now am I correct when I say that firefighters responding in a personal vehicle need to stop and turn of lights at any and all intersections? because my dad is a firefighter and I've responded to a few call with him (I'm becoming a jr officer of our department)

It depends on the state you live in. Every state has different laws about what colors various emergency services and tech companies (like tow and power and water companies) can use. In my state, volunteers are required to have at least one forward facing red flashing light and a siren. We use them in intersections and keep them on so people will stop and let us pass.

What does it mean when it's flashing? I always thought the green lights where command, at least here they are...

+Vancouver Island Emergency Buff in ontario, Quebec, many other provinces and in the states green means they are volunteer firefighters responding or that some of the firefighters are volunteers. What does green mean in Vancouver
@firefighter215
@firefighter215 9 жыл бұрын
That's not it green volunteer light. it indicates on the fire ground that it's a command post. this truck and the chief in command will have green lights flashing.

+FireRescue215_1 i am just speaking from what i know. I know its more in rural areas that green indicates volunteer. I am sure u are right that in the city it means command

Shmur Man FireRescue215_1 Here on Vancouver Island and also on Vancouver, departments that have the green lights use them to indicate there a command post at incidents (etc.) Some vehicles have the light in the light bar so it's part of it where others are like this and have the separate beacon mounted on the front or back of the roof.

What's the purpose for the fire bus
@kirkhoffmann6081
@kirkhoffmann6081 7 жыл бұрын
the buses 14xx. are used to house fire victims at the scene of a fire..and the reason they can't respond with light & siren is because there is only a driver on it .NO officer.. without an officer on it they can't respond with lights & siren
