@@BoleDaPole Or... Non-Peacocks hate Peacocks ability to throw away money - either proving the Peacocks point, or proving the superiority of the non-Peacock in being able to garner attention without throwing away money. Part of the paradox of the Hublot peacock phenomenon is that only a watch nerd would know what a Hublot costs, and how much it should probably cost instead. Or in other words, only watch nerds recognize it as a peacock at all - the great irony is that both the watch nerd and the general public is going to be more impressed by a similarly priced Rolex or Omega than they are by the Hublot... It's almost a Schroedinger's Peacock situation. And yet... If you like one? Go ahead.

I really appreciate your no BS approach to watches. Your content is always well documented, researched and you let your audience make their own decision. As a collector of $5k to $10k watches I tend to value brand history, design and movement quality in this particular order. Hence owning a Speedy, 300 Pro Diver NTD, Portuguese, Luminor GMT, Tag Monza and Targa F Fangio limited edition, Baume & M Hampton, Cartier Pasha, Squale 1521. I never paid retail for any of these pieces, negotiating hard with ADs when buying new or buying quality second hand (always meeting the owner in person beforehand). The research and “hunt” aspect of the entire process makes the day of the purchase feel even more special. Thank you for guiding watch lovers like me make better decision. I have my sights on a Polaris chrono. Will wait a couple of month to buy secondhand: as much as I like the brand story, the Polaris design and the movement, JLC price positioning is indeed nonsense.

I purchased a 42mm classic fusion pre owned, less than 1 years old with two straps for 4.5k gbp still under warranty. Fast forward, its still the watch that gets the most compliments by non watch enthusiasts, it simply pops on the wrist. I would never sell it. It’s funny, Mike: my first acquisitions from Breitling were deliberately selected for their brushed, stealthy finishes-the Superocean Professional, and their OG Blackbird when it was in a sub 42mm case, none of which were their part of their “Shiny-Shiny” offerings.

First time watching your video. The JLC comments are spot on. I can't see how anyone can or will disagree. JLC definitely one of the best (quality and craftmanship) ever. They are either living in the past or future, because they are releasing watches thats really not hyped in the current market. Benedict Cumberbatch with the Dr Strange series, I think Marvel did a huge boost to the JLC brand. I personally love this content. You could do some long format videos about some of these brands but you are very efficient. Brands I’d love to hear some thoughts on in the future, Chopard, Glashutte Original, Breguet… there are many other like Jacque Droz that are probably only interesting to a very special kind of watch geek but I think those three should be more mainstream than they are. You can buy models from them for less than the open market price for a Submariner and they offer so much.

I bought a Casioak and modified it for a specific trip I took up into the Arctic Circle in winter to see the Aurora. Needed something easy to read and would survive on the outside of my parka sleeve. And if it didn't survive, I wasn't going to break the bank. But yeah, since that, only time I wear it anymore is when I'm doing hard physical labor stuff. So not very often!

RE: CASIO/G-SHOCK I wear mine when I do anything that would risk my "nice" watches. Swimming, riding my motorcycle, hunting, etc. If I was making a youtube video you wouldn't see me wearing it, but you'll see me wearing my DW-6900NB at the gym 3x a week. Darn thing has already survived a motorcycle crash with just a few scuffs. G-Shock is incredibly good at what they do. Will survive anything, and they're cheap enough for me to test their durability without fear 😅. The names are horrible, though. Even as a fan, I have no idea. I have toyed with buying their dressier metal options... but it seems kinda like putting lipstick on a pig. I love the look, but G-SHOCK is more Power Rangers than James Bond. For that money I'd rather buy something more traditional. Great vid as always!

I don't understand why breitling can't make the navitimer waterproof. Sinn is able to produce the model under license as the 903 St II and offers 20 bar water resistance

My main problem with my omega which I bought at retail, I have the ultradeep, and was even given a discount for is the chunk of depreciation since which i track using chrono24. Don't get me wrong, I love it. But compared to my rolex, tudor and even my oris is quite puzzling 😅

Most watches depreciate the same way as cars… Is it such an issue for consumable items ?

I am puzzled, I thought Cartier was not sourcing movements but had their own (labelled "MC" for Maison Cartier). Am-I correct ?
