Donegal ladies and gents as my fav! Has anyone been?? Or any other part of Ireland ?

Spent my youth living in Ireland, in County Meath, not too far from Dublin. We used to spend our holidays in Connemara, which is beautiful, yet rugged & wild, with pure white sand beaches & lots of inland lakes & sparkling rivers. We also spent time in Kerry, (also wild but more mountainous than Connemara) and my middle sister lived in Kinsale near to Cork, which is a gorgeous harbour town. In Meath, where we lived, there is The Hill of Tara, the erstwhile home of the High Kings of Ireland. Also nearby is Newgrange the Stone Age passage tomb, and the beautiful lush Boyne Valley, named after the winding graceful Boyne River where the famous Battle of the Boyne took place. So many beautiful places in Ireland, you’d be spoilt for choice!

Ireland is such a beautiful place but what really made it for me was the people. Friendly and warm. They make that island as close to heaven as I've ever been. I can't wait to go back.

This vlog has made, a pleasant change from seeing all the usual tourist traps that will leave you broke. . I live in West Cork and there are so many beautiful places that most visitors never get to see. People flock to Donegal and the Cliffs of Moher but few visit the spectacular cliffs of Kerry. They are higher than Moher and cost you nothing to see. People think Kinsale in Cork is wonderful but go further along the coast to Clonakilty, Skibbereen Ballydehob or Bantry Scull ot Mizzen Head or come up to Gourgon Barra if you want a real treat. Every County has a lot to offer. Avoid the tourist traps and Dublin. Eating out and shopping is so much cheaper in small towns and villages. You will find the real Ireland that way and you will find much of our true culture is alive and well. The locals will be more than happy to point the way to local beauty spots, car parks and places to eat. Some of the best meals are served up in local pubs for half of nothing. Never be afraid to talk to the locals, they will happily help you out.

I spent 11 weeks in Ireland back in 2013. Killarney National Park, as well as the town itself, were my favorite places to visit, but almost everywhere in Ireland, save for Dublin, will leave you thirsting for more. Can't wait until the time I can go back there, hopefully for another 11 weeks, at least!

Irish, I can't disagree with anything here, I even discovered a peninsula or two which I didn't know, THANK YOU, (and I know Ireland well, even if I now live in France). But the east coast is amazing too, for history, beauty, culture, the North too. Newgrange is 5000 years old - older than Stonehenge and far more impressive!!! Thanks anyway, Hal.

I walked across Ireland in the summer of 2013, from Dublin to the Beara, to Dursey Island, and then back to Kenmare. The Beara was my favourite part of the whole walk. I would highly recommend the Beara Way to anyone who is physically fit. It's well waymarked. But it's no stroll in the park!

I've walked the whole circumferences of the Dingle and Beara Peninsulas. I've also walked in the Burren and Connemara. And I've walked on two of the Aran Islands - Inishmore and Inisheer. I found the south coast of Inishmore as dramatic as the Cliffs of Moher.

Travelled Ireland on my own for 14 days, driving. age 55, skipped the tourist areas and had a blast. People couldn't be kinder or more helpful. I' did go one tourist spot, Waterford before the Yanks ruined it. Glad I hit that tourist spot as it will never be the same. Hoping to go back.

The 'Cork's port' is Cobh (pronounced COVE). No. 6 is on the Iveragh (EEV-er-ah) Peninsula. Donegal is pronounced 'Done-ee-GAUL', Letterfrack is 'lettuh-FRAC'. As it's a ring, you can start your tour _anywhere_ on the Ring of Kerry. Nice musical accompaniment, though.

I'll have about 10 days in October and plan on staying for part of it with family in Bantry, as a sort of "base camp." The "Ring of Kerry" sounds wonderful, and I'd like to get out and see Galway, Donegal and down to Cork and Mizen Head as well. Ah well, I suppose another 10 days will be in order next year.
