I hiked Pacaya Volcano outside Guatemala City (which is in Guatemala, NOT Mexico) 2 years after the 2010 eruption mentioned here. We were able to brown marshmallows in the heat from one of the vents. Quite impressive to see first hand how much of the volcano was blown off by the eruption.

I have an 83 year old mom who packs heat. Don't mess with great-grandmas, lol. At least not my mom. She'll take you out in a heartbeat. One rainy, dark evening a few years ago, I was in the passenger side of her SUV. She saw a man and a pg woman walking alongside the road. MOM, NO, as she put it in reverse. She said, If it was my son or daughter, I'd want someone to help them. They got in the back seat. He started popping off at the mouth: You know we could hijack you, steal your car, and kill you? Brakes slammed, heard a click-click in my left ear. The barrel was less than two feet from his face behind me. My mom NEVER curses. Ever. She stated very clearly with a low steady voice: Get the "____" out of my car. Me? I just use Bear Mace. Several cans hidden around my home. 👍 🤣 👍

With a 20' range and having witnessed a 250-275 pound guy drop like a bag of rocks after being sprayed in his face I am confident it is effective. (I also have a CCW, guns and rifles.) For anyone with Mom's, daughters, a wife, nieces, sisters, aunts, girlfriends, etc, please advise them to be their own first line of self-defense.

The drainage hole of Lake Berryessa is protected by a fence. It would be impossible to "accidently" be close enough to get sucked in. Although, if you are determined, you can get past the fence. There has been one person who got past the fence, got sucked in, and died (1997). In 2019, a duck got sucked in and survived.

There is a documentary about a town in Missouri. The town was basically built using radiated soil from atomic testing. The buildings and roads and everything. Also there is a fire under ground. Can't remember why. So between the radiated soil and the fire under ground, the entire town has had the worst cancers imaginable. The entire town. One guy in the documentary died just before they finished filming. I want to say it was called Atomic Ground or something like that. It was shot in the last ten years or so. Crazy and sad.
